Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The reason I loved Skyward Sword so much was because I loved some of the dungeon designs and I thought the vast majority of the boss battles were superb. I can't deny the annoying backtracking towards the end of the game though, it wasn't enough to sour my experience of the game though.

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Has a great cover of Immigrant song at the start, how it was shot reminded me of the opening credits sequence you see in a Bond film.

Saw 2 films over Friday - Sunday First up was Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which was the best the MCU has been since Endgame outside of the Spiderman films. It was what you would expect from a Guardians of the galaxy film but that's no bad thing. Script is funny as usual and has some heartfelt moments,...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Is it just me of is this game harder than BoTW, yesterday I had a pretty frustrating sessoin where in an hour I only managed to do one shrine. It seemed like no matter which direction I went in after unlocking that first tower, I would just come across enemies way stronger than me who could kill me ...

The rewind mechanic in petty much any modern racing game. I'm not sure what was the first game to do it but the first I played was Colin McRae Dirt 2. I always found it frustrating in older racing games where you would make a mistake and then basically have to restart the race, the rewind mechanic i...

The 'Glory Kills' introduced in Doom 2016 . It encouraged a push forward approach to the gameplay which unlike other shooters meant that it was better not to take cover to help your health regenerate but get up close and personal to rip and tear apart the enemies which would reward you with health a...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
My own pet peeve so far is having to attach a brightbulb to an arrow every single time I want to fire one - am I missing something? To fire an arrow or do light up a brightbulb? If the latter you can just throw a brightbulb on the ground and hit it with your weapon and it will light up. It's to fir...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Watched T he Game last night. David Fincher is one of my favourite directors and you can really tell it is one of his films. I was enjoying it with all the ridiculous situations that Michael Douglas was put in, until the ending which really soured my view on the film. I can't really go into why with...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Something I have found minorly annoying is that when using a bow and arrow there is a shortcut to fuse an item from your inventory to the arrow, but for fusing to a shield or weapon you have to go into your inventory, drop item to the ground and then fuse them. There's no shortcut.

I upgraded to an OLED too, just the normal one though. It's been delivered and can't wait to get stuck in tonight. I've heard it doesn't open out for about 4 hours which is a little annoying as I want to be let loose as soon as possible but I'm sure those 4 hours will be great regardless.

Re: Formula One
Like most things in life, the Formula One fanbase is rife with people complaining that it isn't as good as it was a few years ago (and so on)....but it's almost hitting a breaking point for me. Sure, the Merc dominance a few years ago was a little tedious, but gave us flashes of brilliance and the ...

I haven't yet no, only about 4 hours in. Hoping to get it done before Zelda though. I hope you're able to, it ended up being a real highlight that I didn't expect, right up there with the RE4 remake for my favorite game so far this year. Oh I will for sure as I have been enjoying it. Although I'm g...

Re: Books completed (and general book talk)
Finished Six Four and thought it was great. A real page turner. Despite its length (it’s the biggest book I’ve read since order of the Phoenix many years ago) every page felt pretty essential. The main characters felt fleshed out and it was a gripping story. Minor complaints would be there are a lot...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Watched The Karate Kid over the weekend and loved it. Even though It's an 80s film, it made me nostalgic for the early 90s. The Mr Miyagi meme now makes a lot more sense. 4.5/5. Also watched Fast Five . Thought it was ok, I liked how it was basically a heist film and it had some great set pieces, pa...

Re: Games Completed 2023
Spider-Man: Miles Morales I was left a little cold by it. I enjoyed the first game and I still loved the core gameplay with the mix of combat and stealth just as much here, the addition to the mechanics with the venom powers is a good one too. I was left cold mostly by the story and characters thoug...

Re: Videogame News
From what I've seen in reviews, for it to have a turnaround I think it would need some pretty fundamental changes. It seems to lack all the hallmarks of what makes Arcane games great in both the level design and player experimentation from the various abilities. Redfall just looks like a pretty stra...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I get similar feelings when playing stealth games and hence why I largely avoid them unless they form part of a game like in Batman Arkham Asylum. I think it's because there is the threat of basically failing the mission if you get caught, putting all your hard work to waste.
