Re: Shmups

I’ve got incrementally better at Neko Navy and can do the first 4/5 stages without breaking sweat now, it’s only really 6 that fucks me (the boss in particular). Just got to day 7 for the first time and it took a lot out of me meeting a big boss that seems IMPOSSIBLE with the homing bullet sprays e...

Re: Shmups

- When did you change from just doing runs and experiencing games, to chasing scores / 1cc? Is 1cc the most important thing to you now? Well, I can't claim to be at that level yet. I'm still in the experimental phase on all of my CAVE games without a single 1CC under my belt on those, for example. ...

Re: Shmups

How's about all games are better on pc? ...If you're gonna make a bold statement like that, it'd be nice if you followed it up with a precise explanation of the metrics of quality you are using instead of a cute story of you wasting your time and that of Sony's customer support. According to my met...

Re: Shmups

I'm well aware that there are certain games and genres that are best suited to the PC architecture, like real-time strategy, point-and-click adventure, WRPGs and most first- / third-person shooters. Most of the examples in that RPS article are very much in that camp and it doesn't surprise me that t...

Re: Shmups

Your laptops integrated graphics chip probably wasn't built with obscure doujin shmup engines in mind. Yeah, you keep trotting that out as your go-to pet theory, even though BWRP ran perfectly fine two weeks ago . I don't think the Almighty decided to reach into my laptop while I was sleeping and s...

Re: Shmups

Goes for around 4 quid in the steam sales. You never know, the stars might allign, it could be one of the games your laptop doesn't hate. Might be worth chucking 4 quid away to find out. Oh, the 4 quids aren't the problem. It's DRM and making yet another dumb account that's the problem. I have waaa...

Re: Shmups

Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst looks really good, but I couldn't find any trace of it on the german 360 marketplace last time I checked. It's also surprisingly difficult to find concrete release info regarding that game, so I don't know whether it got delisted at some point or if it never came out in P...

Re: Shmups

How would you describe your laptop? Would it be the equivalent of someone buying a rusty old vectrex at a car boot sale, one of the buttons falling off, trying to stick a nes cart in there and grumbling "fuck console gaming!"? It most certainly would not be! I would describe it as a mid-to-hi...

Re: Infinifactory

I was looking at some of the achievements on the early levels, which were about optimisation, but when I went back to try them out, I still had all my unlocks (rather than just the one block type I started that level with, for example). I was wondering if these achievements were designed to be doab...

Re: Infinifactory

This is a lot of fun but my imagination is failing me often. I am basically using long belts and spacers to achieve my ends That's to be expected and I was thinking exactly the same thing at first. The game really comes into its own when optimizing puzzles, not merely "solving" them. Once you becom...

Re: Shmups

Great, now it's Blue Wish Resurrection Plus that is plagued by massive slowdowns right at the start and randomly crashes as soon as I enter basic menu options. :x Two weeks ago it ran without a single issue! What a joke. EDIT: This is maddening . I've turned all the options on and off one by one, I ...

Re: Shmups

@clipps: my no internet plans went tits up when I got some bug from a dodgy tikka sarnie, resulting in too many visits sat on the bog and my phone in hand, in between doubled over cramps. I think I’ve been fairly reasonable. I have drunk a lot of ale, too. The boy has only tried to off himself on a...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm finding it very hard to visualise what any block will do ahead of time - it's a lot of trial and error for me. Yeah, it's a lot of trial and error for most players at first, I would imagine. Just in case you haven't noticed: the game has a very useful fast-forward function every time the machin...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I was able to resolve this straight away by just building in 3 delay blocks instead of conveyors to slow down the first row. I had accidentally built in some extra conveyors between visualisation and result so was a bit dismayed. Nice! And yeah, it's veeery easy to overlook one little thing that sa...

I've been there!

Are you having trouble differentiating between those two production block types? Very sorry if so, I completely forgot about those... I even booted it up yesterday to check all the player-generated ones. :(

EDIT: I feel like complete garbage now...

Mulling it over here. As someone who could not figure out what the tutorial puzzle in Spacechem wanted me to do, I have my doubts it is for me.... The tutorials are very straightforward. Basically, each building block fulfills a specific function and the entire point of the tutorials is to t...

Ksubzero1000 favourite Infinifactory is 80% off on Steam for the next 27 hours (4.60 in Eurobucks).
Thanks, it's a fantastic puzzle game unlike any other! And so is Opus Magnum. :)
