Re: Games Completed 2024
22 March: The Last Blade 2 (Dreamcast) This has to rank as one of the most beautiful 2D, sprite based fighters ever created and I've had a copy of it since 2013. I recently watched the film Rurouni Kenshi: The Beginning on Netflix and was reminded heavily of this game, as it's set in the same time p...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Erstwhile active forum member KSubzero1000 came over to my spot on Thursday and stayed for a few days and we got a good bit of gaming in! Off the top, we played Schildmaid MX (PC), DariusBurst AC (on PC in ultra wide screen settings), Gradius Gaiden (PS1), Soukyugurentai (SAT), Super Puzzle Fighter ...

Re: Really great 'retro' collections
On this subject, a friend gave me a copy of Rare Replay for my birthday, last weekend. The ONE game I wanted an Xbox ONE for!

Re: Really great 'retro' collections
There's been a lot of great collections in recent years! The Capcom Fighting Collection is also great. Atari50 is amazing and arguably the greatest classic game collection in existence, but funnily enough not for the admittedly gigantic amount of games on there. I only care about a small handful (ma...

Re: Games Completed 2024
2 March: Triangle Strategy (Switch) I put a lot of time into my first Triangle Strategy playthrough in 2022 - 2023 and it and Tears of the Kingdom were responsible for me not making a whole lot of progress in my backlog. I got stuck in the penultimate chapter for a bit, with 2 maps where my units ke...

Re: Games Completed 2024
24 February: Star Fox 64 (N64) I was at the b'day party of a good friend and he had an RGB-modded NTSC N64 set up with this one, connected to a 4:3 LCD display. Of course I had to have a go as I only ever played the PAL version (Lylat Wars). Definitely a schmoove experience, though it wasn't a night...

16 February: Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo (Wii VC)
Finally did a full playthrough of this classic, after all this time. We're recording a Cane and Rinse podcast about it on Sunday and I look forward to verbalise my thoughts about the game.

Re: Games Completed 2024
7 February: Tekken 8 (PS5) I didn't complete the whole game, but I went through the main story mode in one go, taking about 4 hours to clear it. I have to say, I didn't expect to be as impressed by it as I am! It's a lot of crazy melodrama for sure, built on the foundation of all the lore insanity t...

November 26th: Yakuza 6 (PS4) Played this for the Cane and Rinse podcast and had a good time with it, despite some misgivings. My full thoughts are out on the Patreon cut of the issue/episode and will soon be publicly available. November 30th: Deathsmiles II (Switch) I received a physical copy of De...

October 15th: Raging Blitz (PC) October 27th: Street Fighter III: The New Generation (DC) I got a clear on Easy to test the difficulty of this really fun doujin shoot 'em up, mainly for testing and helping the dev, but I enjoyed it a lot as well. Then last Friday I defeated Gill in the original vers...

September 24th: Super Castlevania IV (SNES) September 29th: Castlevania (NES) October 6th: Terra Flame (PC) Super CV IV wasn't the first time I cleared the game and it certainly won't be the last time I'll clear it either. Such an enjoyable, pure nostalgic romp. The later stages always seem to give ...

June 18th: Radiant Silvergun - Saturn Mode (SAT)
Right in time for yesterday's CaR recording I met my short term goal of clearing this 60 odd minutes mode within whatever amount of credits I had unlocked. Really is a special game.

Re: The Street Fighter thread
Sod it, I'm buying it - played a bit more of the demo last night and it's just too much fun. Anyone else bar Michiel playing this? Be nice to set up a Cane and Rinse group if there's a few of us. I made a Club thingie. If you share your Fighter ID, I'd be happy to add you! @raisinbman that goes for...

June 11: Jitsu Squad on Warrior difficulty (PC). Played through it co-op with my dev partner over the weekend as we also met the guys of Tanuki Creative at the event we were attending. Re: The Street Fighter thread
I haven't messed with the betas, but I'm really enjoying the final release of SF6. Even though SFV became better and better over time, it never stopped feeling like an eSports geared DLC live service portal, rather than a fully featured fighting game... So the contrast, especially on launch couldn't...
