Alex79 wrote: June 1st, 2024, 9:04 pm That reminds me, is your shmup still coming to Switch? :)
Oh yes! There was just the small matter of my friend having to rewrite much of the game to keep performance and visuals on par with the PC version.

But it's nearing completion. I suspect we can announce a release date very soon.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've been playing DoDonPachi on the Saturn (Saturn Mode) almost daily for the past 3 weeks and I'm inching closer and closer to the coveted 1 credit clear.

1 June: Devil Blade Reboot (PC) I bought this incredibly cool vertically scrolling shmup by ex-Vanillaware dev Shigatake in its release window of a week or so back and 1CC'd NORMAL mode on my 3rd or 4th try. You'd think that it must be a super easy game then, right? But the adiovisual presentation i...

30 May: Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny (PS2) Capcom were really going all in on these first 2 Onimusha games on PS2, weren't they? What a campy, borderline insane action adventure romp this second one in the series was. But it's also really beautiful with sometimes breathtaking prerendered, animated ...

28 May: The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors (Nintendo Switch) After clearing the original Ninja Warriors Again with Kamaitachi, I decided to do the same in this very fine remake. Overall, it's an easier game in many ways, but the final boss was more of a pain in this one and took me countless ...

Re: Games Completed 2024

26 May: The Ninja Warriors Again (SNES/SFC) I never got to the ending of this amazing 16-bit single plain beat 'em up by Natsume, because I seldomly pressed continue after losing the single life you get, thinking I'd eventually clear it on one credit. And I did get pretty far! But since my time is l...

I want to be like you, no Baloo.

I have the cart for this too and I NEED to give it a full playthrough.

18 May: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo Switch) I spent a lot of time (about 120 hours) playing the second open world Zelda last year, so a month or so back I felt that it was holding up progress on my backlog and I had to work towards some kind of conclusion. I could have just m...

Re: Games Completed 2024

Oh yeah. There was at least one untranslated PS1 game (2D graphics) that I played an illicit copy of at a friend's back in the days. One of the playable characters was this weird caveman dude in green garb. And then Konami gave it another shot with the 2 N64 Goemon releases. I prefer the overall gam...

Re: Games Completed 2024

Mar 17: Legend of the Mystical Ninja[/b] I briefly played the Goemon games back on the N64 but was not too sure what to make of them, they were a bit full on with Japanese wackiness for me to understand what was going on. But now I want to give this series a proper go and I think the first Goemon t...

Re: Games Completed 2024

I think the remaster of the first game is on Gamepass, too. I had hoped they might do a Master Chief Collection type treatment on the series, but it doesn't seem like they are. I might need to grab me a copy out of the remaster, should I want to play through the game a third time. If only for the s...

Re: Games Completed 2024

Pleased to see some Evil West love in here. I really enjoyed it too and also thought it was like a third person Doom 2016. I get what you mean about the rinse and repeat cycle of it but it didn't bother me too much as I just enjoyed the core combat so much. It's made me interested in the Shadow War...

30 March: Gears of War (Xbox 360) Not the first time I finished this, but me and my kid finished our coop campaign run on Hardcore. A lot of fun, some frustration (especially during the split up sections where you can't revive each other) and a nice dosage of 2006 era nostalgia. We want to play thro...

22 March: The Last Blade 2 (Dreamcast) This has to rank as one of the most beautiful 2D, sprite based fighters ever created and I've had a copy of it since 2013. I recently watched the film Rurouni Kenshi: The Beginning on Netflix and was reminded heavily of this game, as it's set in the same time p...

Re: Really great 'retro' collections

There's been a lot of great collections in recent years! The Capcom Fighting Collection is also great. Atari50 is amazing and arguably the greatest classic game collection in existence, but funnily enough not for the admittedly gigantic amount of games on there. I only care about a small handful (ma...

2 March: Triangle Strategy (Switch) I put a lot of time into my first Triangle Strategy playthrough in 2022 - 2023 and it and Tears of the Kingdom were responsible for me not making a whole lot of progress in my backlog. Re: Games Completed 2024

24 February: Star Fox 64 (N64) I was at the b'day party of a good friend and he had an RGB-modded NTSC N64 set up with this one, connected to a 4:3 LCD display. Of course I had to have a go as I only ever played the PAL version (Lylat Wars). Definitely a schmoove experience, though it wasn't a night...
