Re: Let's have a thread about the virus, then. We might as well.

Had a coworker who was meant to fly to Malaysia for her brother’s wedding. She was pretty heartbroken when her flights got cancelled. Seems overnight living away from family has become far more complicated and stressful.

Re: Let's have a thread about the virus, then. We might as well.

Schools closed here in Japan two weeks ago so I’ve been heading to the Kindergarten I work, but there’s been no kids to teach so we’ve been doing admin work. Graduation tomorrow but shorter than usual, fewer guests allowed and masks on all times. Everyone is a bit tense at the moment, but it doesn’t...

Removing an entire panellist for the free version of the Metal Gear Solid V podcast is a subterfuge leading to twist reveal for new Patreon backers worthy of a Kohima game itself.

Re: All things Super Monkey Ball

Had a go of the demo, and while the aesthetics and all were fine I just can’t get over the jump button. It feels like every time I press the button I’m losing control of my simian, which is the last thing I want from a monkey ball game.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Real talk, I wish Nintendo would take the opportunity to re-release games that people may not have had the chance to play in the past (due to regional lockout or licensing issues) instead of the same Super Metroid, LttP and Super Mario World that everybody has played already, as fantastic as they a...

Re: Videogame News

Ugh. There's a bunch of folk using this as an excuse to blame one of his accusers. They're using a hashtag and seem almost gleeful in the usual internet troll way. When it's about a game failing or whatever, it's tiresome. When it's about accusations of abuse and suicide it's just ghoulish behaviour...

Re: Videogame News

As far as I’ve read, the new Switch model has a better battery life, but rather than a new battery its a more efficient processor. It weighs the same as the previous model, so it’s not like they’ve just whacked a bigger battery in there. So it’s not as simple as just offering the better battery to e...

I mean, when I was that age, if you asked a bunch of 16 year olds in my area who has tried alcohol you’d have 80% of people saying they had and 20% people lying.

Re: Videogame News

There aren't many games I can think of with cigarettes featured (only really Metal Gear Solid (which also shows negative effects) and Vanquish) but I guess if you want video games to be taken as seriously as TV, you unfortunately end up adhering to similar standards. From the 90s onward, cigarettes ...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I think playing it in the regular way, horses are more of a pain than they’re worth. But if you make a conscious decision to not fast travel, some of the systems in the game really start to come out more. Cooking for example becomes a bit trivial once you find a really good fruit, and then a shrine ...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

We didn’t even know about Mario Maker 2 until February, and that’s out at the end of this month. I could see it going either way - Nintendo likes to keep info close to its chest (likely to make you focus on things to buy right now), but could see the release date quietly slipping.

Once information is out there, it’s out there so if you’re a news company I can understand you either report on it or are just late. But framing things like this - What a disaster for Bandai Namco. Chances are high we’ll see all three of these games during Microsoft’s press conference on Sunday afte...

Box Boy & Box Girl - I’ve literally just started this and flew through the first few worlds as I’m familiar with the gameplay having spent a wonderful time with the 3DS version. My wife has threated to join in with me on the Co-Op adventure but I’m hesitant with this as I’ve heard there is a fu...
