Re: Cyberpunk 2077

Well, what I find frightening is how far off on a tangent this thread has got. If you've got anything more to say about how you feel about the "Left", start another thread away from game chat, but be prepared to have to justify your opinions if people take issue with your thoughts. It was my unders...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

The left is virtually unrecognisable now. It's the level of hostility which I find truly frightening.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

My political science lecturer, in his opening address to class during my freshman year, drew a horseshoe on the blackboard and said "forget the linear left/right nonsense you've been hearing about, this is what a political spectrum looks like". I was young, impressionable and immediately thought he ...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

I attended a 70mm screening of Terminator 2 in the Irish Film Institute earlier. It must be 10 years since I last watched film, actual film, projected and I'd never been to a 70mm performance before. It was easily one of my all-time-great cinema moments. The hum of the projector, the flicker of the ...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

the performance of the female V made me want to see more of her. You just assumed that character's gender. You must be a hateful human being. (I know this wasn't ill-intentioned, but "did you just assume X gender" jokes are used by the more unpleasant sides of the internet; let's try and stay away ...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

For the past two months all of my attention has been on movies. And thanks to an extended period of sick leave I've added 139 entries to my Letterboxd diary in 2019! It's been quite a year so far. I also managed to jump through several hoops and successfully downloaded the Criterion Channel app to m...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Quick question re Steam. The Steam Client no longer supports my OSX and I'm unable to upgrade to the latest OSX for all sorts of infuriating reasons. So as it stands I can open the Client and play my games but I cannot access the store, my cloud saves and, presumably, any patches. All of that is fin...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Also, as a quick aside, one of the most active members when I joined was Todinho. I really miss his contributions, particularly concerning RPGs. Anyone know what he's up to these days? No idea, but that's what happens when you get booted out of this forum for being a misogynist dick. Ah, I see. Did...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I was one of the people that called this forum an echo chamber. Cards on the table, I honestly don't know why I said it. There's more confrontation, and prickly members, on here now than when I first joined in 2016, which makes my criticism even more non-sensical. Over the past few months I've been ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I took a chance on Vampyr and so far I've been pleasantly surprised. It's a genre-debut by a mid-tier indie studio and viewed in that light it's a minor-classic. What it lacks in graphical heft and combat fluidity it makes up for with bags of character. Really enjoying the fundamental importance pla...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Elder Scrolls Online - I bought a collected edition of this yesterday, which includes the upcoming expansion. It sounds like a barely credible April Fool's joke except it really happened. I've been rattling my brain all day trying to make sense of that moment of madness. A rush of blood to the head...

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

That's 100% my experience. You can cheesecake them into calming down for the first deathblow (sic) but then they're permanently aggro and if you bugger off and hope they'll calm down, they'll have reset which I guess is exactly because they don't want you to do that. It encourages you to embrace bo...

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Most mini-bosses that I've encountered have 2 deathblows. I've tried to cheese a couple of them into resetting their alert status but it never works. Has anyone been able to do that with a mini-boss? I've read that you can only stealth them for the first health bar as they won't settle back down af...

Nice one. Is that the chained one? I didn't think you could stealth him up. Interesting!
I think you can stealth every mini-boss, certainly those I've encountered so far.

I am pants at this. Have died about twenty times to "chained ogre". I need to set aside a solid few consecutive hours to really get into it.
There's a certain prosthetic attachment that makes that fight a lot easier.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm 24 hours into Sekiro. I'm making decent enough progress into the different areas while still managing to avoid the main troublemakers. Although I spent 4 very frustrating hours yesterday trying to down a key mini-boss before walking away empty handed. Thankfully he's optional so I'll return even...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Sorry to go off topic, but do you need to have watched the other Xmen films before Logan? I fancied watching it, but never saw any of the hundred million or so other ones. Definitely not. In fact I'd recommend not watching them beforehand. I'm sure there's some masturbatory explanation that ties Lo...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

The faux outage every month strikes me as faintly ridiculous. Oh make no mistake, there's no faux outrage from me. Im genuinely angry they slashed the service whilst increasing the price. PS+ is the games for me. I very rarely play online, so I'm almost the exact opposite in that I pay for the game...
