Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

They've sold an awful lot of annual subscriptions to be raising the price or adding a new tier at this point. I suspect they'll just start adding 1 -2 per month alongside NES games, and use controller sales to monetize them.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I’m sure these will be released and people will instantly demand N64 games for the service also. I mean, unless they make literally the entire Nintendo library available, there will obviously always be more to want, but a decent selection of SNES games would probably satisfy most people for the mom...

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Nice, thanks for sharing! :) I'm not a fan of S supports or of the general idea of turning the entire support mechanic into a dating sim, to be honest. Supports in the 3DS games tend to be either romantic or goofy with very few exceptions. I clearly prefer it the way it works in the GBA games: Keep...

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses

I'm happy to see the positive reception this game is getting, on here and elsewhere. It's just a bit difficult for me to know how much of that would translate to my personal experience and expectations of the series, since most of the enthusiasm seems to come from either series newcomers or Awakeni...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I recently played through the first two Dragon Quest games on the NES, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well they've aged. Especially with DQ 1, being essentially the first JRPG ever, I was afraid I would spend most of my time frustrated and dying over and over, but apart from the total lack of...

Re: Sound of Play: 204

The piece playing over your intro was from Yoshi's Woolly World, and I'm pretty sure there was another track from it in the mix. Also Ori and the Blind Forest (For real this time), the Mario track was most likely Mario Maker, and was that Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't really announce anything new that we didn't already know about, other than BotW 2, which I agree is the least surprising announcement ever, and who knows when we'll actually see it. I can't help but feel like the delay of Animal Crossing (and possibly Metroid ...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

Interesting, cacheing involves a lot more discrete write actions than mass storage does, and most SSDs don't hold up that well being written to over and over, I hope these consoles don't have limited lifespans because of that...

Re: What classic games or series are still to be looked at by C&R that you hope get covered in the future?

In a similar vain to what others have said, and I'm sure they're already on the list, I'd love to see the Dragon Quest series covered at some point after FF is done. I feel like DQ gets largely overshadowed by Final Fantasy in the west, but personally I prefer them. I recently played the first 2 gam...

Games I'm pretty sure about: Command and Conquer: Red Alert Donkey Kong Land 2 Donkey Kong Country 3 Super Mario RPG (I was waiting for this one) Persona (must be the first one) Mario Kart 64 Terrinigma (Less sure about this one, but I heard a track I'd swear was from Illusion of Gaia, which is too ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I suspect the answer is no, but with co-op stage development, I wonder if it will be possible to upload stages that can only be cleared by more than one player. I can imagine some really interesting potential co-op stages.

Crowdfunded game development, with decidedly mixed results.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (Spoiler Thread)

What I took away from Bruce's conversation with The Ancient One is that only removing an Infinity Stone from the timeline would create a branch, not just any alteration, otherwise putting them back wouldn't solve the problem, since some things were still changed. That being the case, Steve going bac...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

PS1 and PS2 emulation wouldn't be that difficult, PCs far less powerful than they're claiming the PS5 is can handle them with no issues. From what I understand, the PS3's unique processor would make it pretty hard to emulate if they wanted to go that route though. It kinda seems like they're going a...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

I don't find the claims about the SSD to be that far-fetched, the technology has come a really long way in the last couple of years, and the prices have come down dramatically as well.

Fair enough, although I doubt the majority of your English-speaking audience were capable of playing it in 2016...
As for Ori, I guess it must have been the definitive edition in that case.

Re: Sound of Play: 192

In addition to what other have mentioned, I heard
Ori and the Blind Forest
Stardew Valley at 1:14
Velvet's Theme from Tales of Berseria at 1:39, which is kind of cheating, since it didn't release in English until 2017. An easy one for me, since it's literally my phone's ringtone :).

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Yoshi is absolutely lovely. I'm not in love with it so far. It definitely looks fabulous, but I wish that aesthetic was incorporated into the mechanics as much as Wooly World's was. Also, I've found it more frustrating than previous Yoshi games, I think the 3D egg-throwing makes quick shots a lot h...
