Re: Furi - Cane and Rinse 374

Even though it is nowhere near as difficult as Furi, the dodge mechanic in Nier Automata is for me, an example of how to do dodging right. Simple button click, you are out of harm's way, that is that. It doubling up as essentially a run button also ensures it gets plenty of use outside of battle as ...

Re: Sound of Play: 207

As soon as I seen this on the homepage, listened to it ASAP. This was a wonderful episode; Grant Kirkhope, what a get! The enthusiasm from Ryan and Darren was oozing through the speakers and Grant was chock a block with great stories from his past. Made me more appreciative of the sheer range of Gra...

Re: Furi - Cane and Rinse 374

Really enjoyable show this one was. Interesting to have a mix of opinions on this title. Also glad that I was not the only one who had trouble with the final stage of the Scale fight. Thought it was just me being crap  Yeah ,would probably have stuck with normal difficulty if it was not for tha...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Gravity Rush 2 has been pissing me off lately, I am at a part where I have to use my gravity shifting powers to stop missiles from hitting a tower and let me tell you that this game is at its absolute nadir whenever you have to shift gravity under a time limit. I always panic and overshoot my target...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

I think the switch over to the more 'realistic' graphical style with FFX is when I lost interest in the series as a whole. The outlandish costume design and hairstyles make sense visually when the characters themselves are very stylised, but they look ludicrous on relatively real looking human figu...

And Ryan. He had no idea and he works at Nintendo!
Considering how big gaming reveals get leaked so often these days, that is truly impressive. Must have very tight security in Nintendo HQ!

Yeah, never played any of the Panzer Dragoon games so I cannot wait to pick it up later this year! Glad Sega is going back to some of their Saturn stuff, it was always a neglected machine when compared to their other consoles.

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

Anyone else think that the FF7 character designs lose every single ounce of charm and instead actually look really silly when they’re rendered in the quasi realistic style of the remake? Yep, 100% agreed. I played and finished FF7 for the first time last year and I thought its chunky visual style g...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I have lost interest in E3 over the years, of course there is always stuff announced that I am excited for but it has been a really long time since an announcement made me go "HOLY SHIT!". Banjo in Smash made me say just that. This has been on so many Smash fan's wish lists that when I seen the thum...

Re: Our Patreon

That "SJW" reviewer is ridiculous, the podcast only gets political when the games themselves cover political topics and if you are going to do a proper analysis of what makes a game work or not, it would be glaringly incomplete without mentioning the political subject. Imagine the Bioshock Infinite ...

Re: What classic games or series are still to be looked at by C&R that you hope get covered in the future?

With Panzer Dragoon being rereleased later this year on digital platforms, it might be more likely that the team covers it than would have been the case prior. I never played the originals so I am really hyped for it myself personally. Donkey Kong was one I had always wanted to hear getting covered ...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

I so wanted to like Night in the Woods - the music, art and writing are all incredible. I just wish it had more in the way of actual, you know, gameplay. Some platforming, some point and click styles puzzles... anything to get my teeth into. I know there are those that disagree, but I'm firmly of t...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

One I just thought of that would make a really fascinating episode is Night in the Woods. I absolutely loved this when i played it last year and thought its characters were ironically the most human that I have ever encountered in a videogame. Not to mention, the political themes it deals with are s...

Re: The more I go back to last gen, the worse it seems (PS3 and 360)

Man, they were everywhere, weren't they? I remember one year GameCritics.com gave their game of the year to Dead Island. Those guys over there really love their zombies. In fairness, it probably was the best of the zombie games*, and reasonably good fun with a good, if buggy, co-op element. E...

Re: The more I go back to last gen, the worse it seems (PS3 and 360)

I personally find this current generation far better than the last gen for the most part and I am not talking about the obvious graphical improvements (though I agree with others that 4K is not particularly interesting, far better things for developers to put resources into and my standard HD telly ...

Re: If you could only pick one console...

Oh boy, this is a tough decision to make. I suppose it would be a Playstation console of some sort just because of the sheer variety of games on offer. The PS4 has been one of the best consoles I have ever owned, the amount of stone cold classics that machine has offered me has been truly extraordin...

Re: Games Completed 2019

It seemed to be that each game in the order I played them (Dk64-Kazooie-Tooie) was (at least to me) easier. DK64 was hard because it controls poorly compared to the 360 enhanced Banjo games I played and some of the mini games were stupidly difficult. I also made it hard for myself using a cheap cla...

Re: Games Completed 2019

11/05 Banjo Tooie DK64, Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie back to back with all trinkets collected. I think I need a 3D platformer break before I tackle Nuts and Bolts but I throughly enjoyed the Banjo games. Tooie was an easier game to play but figuring out the tricks to get all the Jiggies was mental...

Just started Gravity Rush 2. Seems like more of the same but combat at the moment seems to be a bit improved? Still too early to tell but is starting out pretty good so far. Still looks and sounds lovely though.

Re: Explain your user name and avatar

Name is Joe. Friend of mine calls me Jobo for a nickname which eventually morphed to Jobo Bonobo. I am a sucker for goofy wordplay like that so I have decided to use that as my username here. My avatar is Captain Blubber from the Banjo Kazooie games. One of the reasons why I love this series is the ...
