Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Still stuck on level 4 boss in Thumper . It is the third phase where it is an absolute bastard. The first green light is immediately before a barrier you have to smash through and then you have to immediately go over to the next lane on your right to hit the next light. Time and again, I mess up. I ...

Re: Help me make an all time greatest comedy film list!
Been a while since I seen Fargo, but a lot of the small talk from the locals really drove a lot of the humour in that film. Steve Buscemi's character constantly being referred to as that "funny looking fella" was always a running gag I liked.

Re: Help me make an all time greatest comedy film list!
In the vein of Spinal Tap, I would also suggest Best in Show and A Mighty Wind which are directed by Christopher Guest. Really funny mockumentaries looking at dog competitions and folk music. As for funny Coen Brothers stuff, the one i always recommend is O Brother where art Thou? Just a fun little ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
The PS store was doing a special offer for a limited time where you can download games that use VR for free. Despite not having a VR set, I checked it out and looked for something good that did not require the pricey peripheral. That is when I saw Thumper. I have always been interested in this title...

Re: The Sound of Play submission thread
I have very limited exposure to the Professor Layton series, having only played bits and pieces of a friend's copy of Professor Layton and the Curious Village. One factor that stuck out to me was the lovely whimsical soundtrack it had. One piece in particular "The Veil of Night" by Tomohit...

Re: 479 - Yakuza Kiwami 2
After the decent but a bit disappointing Yakuza Kiwami, this is a massive step up in quality in nearly every way. You can really see the series get its identity here. The substories are far sillier with you fighting adult baby fetishists, being a voice actor for a sexy video game, helping recent col...

Re: Games Completed 2021
I still say Kiwami 2 is the best of the series, the PS2 original and the remake. It's just so memorable, and has an amazing finish, and the female lead actually has agency. 3 is definitely a comedown, and I'm actually working through the remastered version on XBox One. --Dan It really is up there f...

Re: First or memorable platinums / 100% achievements
Fittingly, one of my adult selfs biggest accomplishments (involving an actual challenge) also comes from a Kirby game, namely Kirby Super Star Ultra . At the end of everything this game as to offer lies the True Arena, a grueling boss rush with difficulty way beyond what the game otherwise has to o...

January 30: Celeste February 12: Katamari Damacy Rerolled February 28: Panzer Dragoon Remake March 26: Donut County Nice short experience which has a fun story and very simple but rewarding gameplay. The gameplay is almost too simple as you are just controlling a hole that needs to get bigger by dr...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Finished the main story in Yakuza Kiwami 2 but not fully completed it as I still have Majima's story to do. Which I can't complain about because I really have been enjoying this one. Huge leap in quality from the first Kiwami. But I decided to go through a short game before fully finishing Kiwami 2 ...

January 30: Celeste February 12: Katamari Damacy Rerolled February 28: Panzer Dragoon Remake Just blasted through this in roughly an hour today. Never played the Saturn original (in fact, never played the Saturn in my life!) so it was good experiencing this. I enjoyed it a lot and can see myself go...

Re: 499 - Another World
I remember trying this out on a Mega Drive emulator ages ago. I was impressed with the graphics especially for 1991. But repeatedly dying due to the very stiff controls was very aggravating for me. I kept dying at or just after the little worm creature from the very beginning. I admit it may be that...

Re: 465 - Mario Kart Wii
This was big in my social circle when it hit. Double Dash just did not do it for me so this was a nice return to the long nights of four player races which were punctuated with laughing, swearing and shouts of disbelief. Though there are those who disliked the element of Mario Kart where more skille...

Re: 470 - Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
This was the game that made me stand up and take notice of the PS2. The creators of Crash Bandicoot making a new open world 3D platformer? Sign me up! I remember renting a PS2 with this game and had to play long sessions due to not having a memory card at the time. I got as far as the water temple t...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I have been on a bit of a remake streak lately as I am currently playing Panzer Dragoon for PS4. I never played the Saturn and I was always interested in this series. Got to Level 6 in over an hour but it gets pretty intense so got a game over and was shocked that I had to actually start from the be...

Re: Duke Nukem 3D
Shite is quite mild in the grand scheme of things, still was a bit of a shock to hear it on the podcast though! Considering the subject matter in this episode, you can afford to be a bit more risque I guess.

Re: Duke Nukem 3D
My first and only experience of Duke was that awful demo of Duke Nukem Forever which I can't even remember why but I just remember hating it. But despite that dodgy record with the character I still really liked this episode. The discussion on the outdated humour reminded me of this great video wher...

Re: January 2021
Thanks for reading my (in hindsight) overly long comment! Just writing to say that the series that I was referring to was Sonic as Jay was suggesting that the podcast not focus too hard on the series because of its admittedly quite mixed record and it would put listeners off. I completely disagree a...

Re: Games Completed 2021
January 30: Celeste February 12: Katamari Damacy Rerolled It was nice to play the original Katamari for the first time. Music, visuals and the satisfaction of making your katamari bigger all added up to a really fun experience. It does a nice job of progressing from small to big as the game progres...
