Re: Ten years of Cane and Rinse!

Wow, already ten years have passed? I started regularly listening from Volume 5 onwards and honestly it is the one video game podcast that I have regularly tuned into during the last five years. Quality, if anything, has only gotten better the longer ye have stuck to it! Here's to many more years of...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Being late on gaming news as usual I just seen that the next Kirby game is going to be a proper 3D platformer. Finally, this was proper overdue and I loved what little I seen in the trailer. Always slightly annoyed me that Mario was the only one of the platformer series that gets any love in the thi...

Re: Our next console special podcast recording (24.10.21): Nintendo GameCube

I first heard about the Gamecube back when it was known as "Project Dolphin" in a small text box in the news section of N64 magazine. From my enlightened 12 year old perspective, I remember thinking "Pfft, who needs new consoles? 3D gaming is here, we have already reached the peak of ...

Re: Do you binge play video games or take your time?

If I had a particularly busy work day I tend to drift, if I have lots of free time I binge. I also will do different things in a game depending on these modes. In my limited free time during the week I might do one or two sidequests/leveling up/complete one or two short levels, etc. Then when I bing...

Re: Self-imposed rules on buying games?

The last time I bought a game brand new day one was Rayman Origins back in 2011 but yeah nearly always get stuff second hand or in digital sales these days. I also tend to stick with one game at a time and will only move on when I feel like I got my money's worth or finished it off. With digital sal...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I really have a schedule lately that makes it very hostile to gaming so I have been slowly plugging away at Dragon Quest XI after greatly enjoying the demo. Interesting to play a more "traditional" DQ considering IX on the DS was the only other one I have ever played. It is actually quite ...

Re: Games Completed 2021

Did you ever play South Park: The Stick Of Truth? Before this Bug Fables, that's the closest I've ever found to the original Paper Mario type RPG, gameplay and combat-wise. I have heard that alright and the newer South Park games look to be a big step up from the N64 FPS which was a bit rubbish. An...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Tried out the Neo: The World Ends with You demo and despite me really liking the first game, was still pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. The main protagonist is actually pretty likeable with him not been as obsessed with fashion and consumerism as all the people around him and at one ...

Re: E3 predictions - You get one shot

Well I aimed to get around to doing this a bit earlier than I thought I would. Oh well so Nintendo is left so I will do one prediction for them tomorrow: To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Donkey Kong, there is going to be a new DK game. Not only that but he will be returning to 3D after 21 years....

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I have had only 4 hours or so with it but it just captures what makes the early Paper Mario titles so engaging and even builds up on that in terms of combat and character. Really cannot recommend it enough if you want something like Thousand Year Door.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Started up Bug Fables this weekend and people saying it is influenced by Paper Mario were downplaying it! This feels exactly like the Thousand Year Door only without the Mario skin. It has been well over a decade since I played anything like TTYD so I am adoring it so far. A battle system that is a ...

Re: 487 - Everything

Everything is a really odd one to me. I have really not played anything like it before and I honestly find it really hard to talk about. For example, in terms of gameplay there really is no overarching aim or goals but conversely this is also the ultimate collectathon in a weird way due to the playe...

OK, can we at least agree Diddy is better than Kiddy Kong? DKC3 is a good game in spite of that ugly little bugger.

Re: Mario Kart Wii

Just listened to this recently and I was surprised no one on the show notices Donkey Kong's weird new Scooby Doo voice. Is it just me who thinks it does not suit the character at all? Seriously, prefer the DK64 voice to what he sounded like in this. Also, Diddy Kong is Poochie?! That is way too hars...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

After struggling with the B-Sides in Celeste, I just went "screw it, I'm turning Infinite Dashes on." Might as well use these tools if I am being given them. Also I completed the main story fair and square so I think it is fine to muck around a bit with the after game content, so to speak....

Re: Our next Console Special podcast recording (27.6.21) - PlayStation 3

Of all of Sony’s home consoles this is the one that I have the least experience with. My old flatmate had a PS3 that I would play on occasionally and then a friend of mine gave me his one when he got himself a new PS4. I do remember quite vividly when I finally had to update to a HD TV as the old bo...
