Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finally beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Radical Red . It took a lot of strategizing and coming in with the right held items and moveset but after many weeks I got into the Hall of Fame! But I am not fully dine with this game yet, there is some postgame content I want to do. You can head to a new loca...

Re: Games Completed 2024

I think a lot of the PS1 stuff is still not translated so hopefully that will be a future project for someone to tackle. Heard both N64 games are really highly regarded by the fans of this series so look forward to trying them out some day. Goemon's Great Adventure was one I heard a lot of good thin...

Re: Games Completed 2024

I missed your post on this! What a great series and indeed a great game to start with. I was so upset with that KId Ying and dr. Yang bs when I found out that I got myself the Super Famicom original instead. Was playing it in 2P coop with one of my best buddies who happens to be fluid in Japanese, ...

Re: 627: Stray

Having grown up with cats throughout my childhood, the idea of playing as a plain old cat in a post-apocalypse certainly appealed to me. The cat itself is a really endearing creature, the little trills and purrs bought back lovely memories of old pets. The beginning the game where you are with your ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Had a fair bit of new stuff that I played the last few weeks so I might as well talk about them now! So first off, I downloaded a few demos on my PS4 as there were a few titles I wanted to check out. First off was Prince of Persia the Lost Crown . Took me a while to get the hang of parrying but othe...

Jan 7: New Super Lucky’s Tale Jan 7: Super Mario Land Jan 9: Tetris Attack Mar 2: Yakuza: Like a Dragon Mar 17: Legend of the Mystical Ninja I briefly played the Goemon games back on the N64 but was not too sure what to make of them, they were a bit full on with Japanese wackiness for me to underst...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

So finally got around to finishing Victory Road and am now facing the Elite Four in Pokemon Radical Red . And it plays a really mean trick on you. One of the (many) QOL improvements this ROM hack has is that you can access the PC at any time so you can swap Pokemon in and out on the go. I would usua...

Re: 610: Yakuza: Like a Dragon

When I heard that Yakuza was going to become a turn based RPG, I was surprised yet intrigued. With Kiryu’s story concluded, this was a good opportunity to really mix the series up and if you have a new protagonist, why not a new gameplay style? Since I was already partial to turn based RPGs, I was o...

Re: Katamari Damacy series

Listening to this podcast was a nice blast of nostalgia in regards to We Love Katamari. I forgot about the firefly level, the one where you have to take down a gingerbread house and helping a sumo wrestler gain weight by rolling over food. It really was a title just brimming with creativity, what a ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Since Yakuza: Like A Dragon will be featured on the podcast next week I have been trying to finish it up as quick as possible. Just started the final chapter now so hopefully I will get that sorted before the podcast is out. Been enjoying it a lot and the turn based system has been a great change of...

Re: 624: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

As someone who greatly enjoyed the original I was very excited to see what the Gamecube sequel to Paper Mario had in store and made sure to get it for the Christmas of 2004. It greatly exceeded my expectations with a new world to explore, a diverse cast of Mario mainstays and completely new characte...

Re: 637: Sonic 3 & Knuckles

When one looks at the Sonic trilogy on the Mega Drive, it is quite clear to see that each title refines and builds up on the concepts of the previous title. Sonic 1 was an new and exciting way to play patformers with its emphasis on speed. However with the exception of two zones, it is mostly a stan...

Re: Games Completed 2024

I knew that Tetris Attack was a reskin of another game but did not know that the Japanese original is on the Switch Service! Nice when us in the west get the original Japanese version of anything.

Re: Games Completed 2024

Jan 7: New Super Lucky’s Tale Jan 7: Super Mario Land Jan 9: Tetris Attack This was decent enough. Really liked the Yoshi’s Island aesthetic. Got really tough later on with how quickly the blocks move up the screen and if it was not for save states I don’t think I would have had a hope in hell of f...

Re: 615: Pikmin 2

I was a big fan of the original Pikmin but my one big complaint was the 30 day limit. I wanted to explore this bizarre planet for as long as I wanted and thankfully that is exactly what Pikmin 2 gave us. This game to me is a prime example of a sequel coming along and improving all that came before i...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Just started up Yakuza: Like a Dragon . While I would have liked if this game was a later episode of Volume 13, I have to say I am liking it so much so far that I am already at Chapter 3 in a single day so I might get it done for the episode! Since I like turn based JRPGs already, I have no problem ...

Re: Games Completed 2024

Jan 7 New Super Lucky’s Tale This was nice and pleasant but not too groundbreaking. Controls are really nice and the levels are basic but nicely designed. This is definitely aimed at a much younger audience not only because Lucky is a wholesome, cutesy protagonist but also it is for the most part i...

Re: 611: Super Mario Land

I remembered playing this as a young lad on my cousin’s Game Boy and struggling to get far due to me not being used to the lime green screen of the Game Boy. It was a game I vaguely remembered but did not ever fully tackle until recently for this show. I was incredibly surprised when I finished the ...
