Re: Your Top 50 Games of All Time Lists

Incase anyone is interested, the other two games I got with my PS1 were Michael Owen's Soccer and the Batman & Robin movie game, you can probably see why I spent so much time with Rascal. Got Olympic Soccer with mine. I wonder which was worse. :). (quick wikipedia search later) OH GOD THEY'RE BY TH...

Re: All things Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku)

IJINCHO WILL BE 3-4 TIMES BIGGER THAN KAMUROCHO & GAME LENGTH WILL DOUBLE?! Damn. I spent about 75 hours on 5 and 0 each. More does not necessarily mean better. Detailed locations have always been a big part of Yakuza. It will be interesting to see how they handle it. 5 is (I think) still the bigge...

Re: Our next podcast recording (13.9.19) - 387: DJ Hero and DJ Hero II

2009 really felt like the last time instrument-based rhythm games were in the mainstream. The hype around these types of games had died down and they probably weren't selling as well as they had. This explains how I bought DJ Hero with the controller from Tesco in 2014 for €5 as they were clearing o...

Although it didn't make my top 50, its nice to see some Final Fantasy V love in those lists.

Playing DJ Hero 2 following in ColinAlonso’s footsteps. Whenever I start a new mix Colin’s score is my target. Colin, you’ve turned into my DJ Hero 2 nemesis unwittingly haha! Oh shit! I have to get serious! ;). If anyone else is playing on the PS3 before the podcast and wants some, quite beatable,...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Also started playing Trials of Mana (aka, Seiken Densetsu 3) and like... Holy shit, for a 25 year old game, it still holds up remarkably well. The story is interesting, the gameplay is tight and responsive (unlike Secret of Mana), the core mechanics are surprisingly complex... It's really a masterp...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I wouldn't quite describe the style as Spongebob-ish I will bow to your greater expertise in this matter ;) Just beat level 1-4. Steam says I have almost 8 hours played...this game is tough. It's probably a bit early for me to say it is very harsh, given that I am probably not fully understanding s...

Re: Videogame News

Well, its definitely a different angle on the series. I'd need to see and read more on it. Hopefully Yakuza RPG is less tedious and needlessly padded than the mainline games. Hey! The 'padding' aka the side content is damn near the point of the series. Having said that there usually comes a po...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Dicey Dungeons. It's weird, I find something about it a bit offputting but don't know what it is. I'm leaning towards a combination of the Dad Joke writing and Spongebob art style. At the same time, it is quite 'one more turn'-ish. Just got to the boss of Episode 4 with the Warrior, it could not ha...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Three games on the go right now. I'm through two of the 6 clubs in Empire mode in DJ Hero 2 . I bounced off this back when I bought it as the tracklist leans more heavily on late 2000's hip-hop/r'n'b which I don't care for much. Gameplay is still fun and the freestyle crossfade sections in the track...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Nice write up Scrustle. I've been on the fence about getting Judgement but I think I will. I restrict myself to 1 Yakuza a year to avoid burnout though so I'll pencil it in for 2021 (finishing Kiryu's saga with 6 in 2020).

Re: What's Out This Week?

I've been waiting since the Sound of Play episode for the Switch release, not having heard of it before then. Definitely sounds up my alley.

Might pick up Dicey Dungeons later in the year. It's the new one from Terry Cavanagh and looks interesting.

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses

I'm really interested to see how you all get on with it. I may be remembering wrong but I thought Fates got a good initial reception. So I got it when I got a 3DS but even though I finished Birthright, I never really got into it and left disappointed. I think there was a fair bit of backlash to Fate...

Re: Videogame News

Dotemu have confirmed that Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima will return to compose Streets of Rage 4 and they will be joined by Yoko Shimomura, Hideki Naganuma (not mentioned in the video I think but he is in the video description) and Keiji Yamagishi.

Serious star power there.
