Re: Games Completed 2021

Jan 1 - Slay the Spire (Switch) Jan 10 - Streets of Rage 4 (PS4) (Cherry - Normal) Jan 24 - Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch) (True Ending) Really fun JRPG. Solid combat which I've discussed on the whatcha been playing thread. But I do want to say that since then I gave all the party members a fa...

:D

Didn't expect that. Thanks a lot Alex for running this again. And for making me ponder 'Arsehole, bastard or wanker' for a good 5 minutes.

Re: Games Completed 2021

That's more or less how the fight ended up going on the Cherry run except
Spoiler: show
for sticking to one leg of the mech. Cherry's forward forward attack is very spammable so I went to both with that.

Re: Your Best and Worst Games of 2020 Lists

Worst game I played this year: Monument Valley 2 I also finished this game this year and found it to be just more of the same of Monument Valley 1 which I enjoyed. Never paid any attention to the story, I was just there for the puzzles and art style. Did you play the first game? I did! Just like th...

Re: Games Completed 2021

Jan 1 - Slay the Spire (Switch) I don't think I can ever count this as completed, so for the sake of the list I'm putting the first time I reached the credits down. I've seen them 5 more times since. Much has been said about it but it is an addictive as hell card battler where the runs take about an...

First horses I thought of actually so I'll second this objection.

Did you ever beat King's Gate (the bonus extra hard race)? I spent ages after winning every other race until I got it.

Re: Your Best and Worst Games of 2020 Lists

Well I played 7 games released in 2020 but three of them were remasters or remakes. Of those my top 3 are Hades, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 and Xenoblade Chronicles: DE. So two remasters/remakes there then. The worst is probably Animal Crossing as well. I don't think I would have said that 40 hours ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

As someone who'd put Ys VIII in his Top 5 JRPGs ever list, I will absolutely guarantee you, survival is a core theme of this game and when the two plotlines start to intermingle, you'll have some "woah" plot moments. It's seriously one of the best stories I've seen in gaming. Well I've ju...

Re: Games of 2021: What piques your interest?

I haven't been keeping up with 2021's releases but from looking at the games mentioned here I'm interested in 'Breath of the Wild 2' and God or War Ragnarok, but I doubt either will make a 2021 release. That really leaves Horizon: Forbidden West but I don't know how Guerilla would match the story of...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm about 15/20 hours into Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana on Switch and enjoying it quite a bit. The deserted island angle where there is just the main character and a bunch of other survivors from a shipwreck is an interesting change to the JRPG formula. I like this angle enough that I might be disappo...

To paraphrase my nephew, only 4 more sleeps. With my change in routine due to you know what, I've been listening to less podcasts, so I'm about 5 regular shows, 3 console specials and many sounds of play behind. It makes me appreciate more the ridiculous amount of content you and the team make, espe...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Tried this on DS a few times but never got in to it. I've always liked the idea of a 'real world' JRPG though. The Persona series is probably about the closest I can think of, but I'm not hugely fond of their clear cut 'this is the day time, this is the dungeon' format. Is this game any good? TWEWY...

Brenda Romero is the lead on it. I was hoping for a physical version, but that only seems to be in certain countries and doesn't include Ireland or the UK.
