Re: Retro Game Challenge - This week: Mr Driller (GBC)

Nice run Alex.

I haven't bettered mine and I'm even struggling to get past 3500m now, so I think I'll leave it there.
It actually plays really well even on the weak hardware. Its a nice port. Good fun.

She's somewhere else. Definitely not at the bottom of this pit of blocks.

My best score so far 3,845ft/262,755pts

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Something I've been dipping into recently has been Wargroove . 16 bit style presentation of a tactical rpg - I want to love it. But I can't quite work out the mechanics. The game usefully tells you how much of an impact you'll make on the enemy and how much damage they'll do in return but it seems ...

Re: Retro gaming

Happy hunting!

On Timesplitters 2, campaign wasn't really the meat of that game, so if you played a lot of Arcade League and multiplayer, I'd say you got most of what you can out of it. I'd guess copies are fairly cheap though.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm about 50 hours and 9 chapters into Final Fantasy XV . I just find it so chilled and relaxing. It's beautiful (obviously) and cruising around the world with the bros just seems to fly by. I find that their general dialogue repeats too often, for example, there seems to be about four pieces of dia...

Re: You've been left an arcade by your long lost uncle!

Was never really into (or near) arcades when growing up. But I would definitely have Outrun, Outrun 2, Daytona USA, Puzzle Bobble, Point Blank and a Taiko no Tatsujin machine.

Re: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX

I wanted to add my own scoreboard, but I can't for the life of me get a picture to post right. Oh, well. I went into the in game options and turned fullscreen off. Then I resized the screen so the horizontal was less than 1000 pixels, as per clippa (School me! You ain't qualified to teach!). Less t...

I'm chasing scores on Championship II - 10 mins, specifically.
I worked through that rust quickly and set a new high score for you to chase. :D Image

Re: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX

While not as good as my PS3 PMCEDX heyday, I did put up a few scores on my Steam copy. I'll send you a friend link so you can see if they're any use to you.

Played a bit tonight after seeing this. WOW I am so rusty.

To maximise your enjoyment don't watch the Republic of Ireland play.
I agree with this sentiment but will still watch the soul destroying match against Georgia on Saturday. In good news, Shane Duffy has been declared fit. :D

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I got stuck in Super Metroid, looking for what to do next for at lease an hour, so I stopped playing it for almost a week. Came back to it today and found a new path and weapon in 2-3 minutes. Nice.

Continuing Final Fantasy 15, it isn't great (yet anyway) but I find it quite relaxing.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Dicey Dungeons . Boy, everything about this game (art, writing, and (sorry, Colin) music) annoys me, apart from the gameplay, which eventually annoyed me enough that I haven't played it in a while. I was playing through methodically, doing the levels in order, but one has defeated me - Thief 3 - wh...

Re: Your Top 50 Games of All Time Lists

Incase anyone is interested, the other two games I got with my PS1 were Michael Owen's Soccer and the Batman & Robin movie game, you can probably see why I spent so much time with Rascal. Got Olympic Soccer with mine. I wonder which was worse. :). (quick wikipedia search later) OH GOD THEY'RE BY TH...

Re: All things Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku)

IJINCHO WILL BE 3-4 TIMES BIGGER THAN KAMUROCHO & GAME LENGTH WILL DOUBLE?! Damn. I spent about 75 hours on 5 and 0 each. More does not necessarily mean better. Detailed locations have always been a big part of Yakuza. It will be interesting to see how they handle it. 5 is (I think) still the bigge...

Re: Our next podcast recording (13.9.19) - 387: DJ Hero and DJ Hero II

2009 really felt like the last time instrument-based rhythm games were in the mainstream. The hype around these types of games had died down and they probably weren't selling as well as they had. This explains how I bought DJ Hero with the controller from Tesco in 2014 for €5 as they were clearing o...

Playing DJ Hero 2 following in ColinAlonso’s footsteps. Whenever I start a new mix Colin’s score is my target. Colin, you’ve turned into my DJ Hero 2 nemesis unwittingly haha! Oh shit! I have to get serious! ;). If anyone else is playing on the PS3 before the podcast and wants some, quite beatable,...
