Re: Shmups
I got the Darius Cozmic Collection a couple of days ago and I've been enjoying it a lot. Absolutely delighted with it, to be honest, because it was a bit of a gamble and not especially cheap with postage and customs, etc... Welcome to the Darius Cozmic Collection club! One thing that makes purchase...

Re: If you could only pick one console...
The Ouya was created to make the Virtual Boy a sensible purchase.

Re: Shmups
Ooh, look, that M2 youtube documentary thing is up jc5DlOkOcU4 I watched that last night on the TV, and it's always interesting to hear Horii question whether the decisions he makes are "good business" or not, and that the motivation is about quality and accuracy, and fun. There's somethi...

Re: Videogame News
The future is streaming (and motion control, and VR)!
The early days of Microsoft and Sony working together for game streaming? What's next? Mario and Sonic in a game together?!?

Re: Videogame News
While I fall squarely in the fucKonami crowd, news that the upcoming Castlevania Anniversary Collection will get a free update to include the Japanese versions is at least a positive step.
Still don't like 'em, but credit where credit is due.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
It's such a great game, very simple, but nice and quick and excellent sprite work as you'd expect. As I was leaving, I asked him;- "So, Turf Masters then ??" He said; - "Straight in my favourites...." It starts so simple, then time disappears without you realising, and then you ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
With the big release of Rage 2 this week, I rushed out and bought a MVS copy of Big Tournament Golf (aka Neo Turf Masters), which price-wise works out to be around the same price! Got the machine, gotta make the most of it. The combination of a jazzy/muzak soundtrack, a general televised-styled pres...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
What about Sleep Tight That's not really a horror either but it scratches the same itch, best to go in blind. I haven't seen either. Obviously seen Jaume Balagueró's Rec films, but not Sleep Tight. Shall add it to the list. I think my love of horror films is why I had such good time with Detective ...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Ha, yeah. I have Martyrs on Bluray and Inside on DVD so... the upside is no-one ever borrows anything from my personal collection, so they're in pristine shape! There is a point in Inside where it goes from upsettingly ultra-violent to absurdly cartoon violent, at which point it becomes a lit...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I love Martyrs... and by love I mean it's not an easy watch, and I'd struggle to recommend it to anyone who doesn't like horror movies, but yeah... it doesn't pull any punches.

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Edit: Haha, I should have read your review first! I go by the Eurogamer/Ars Technica review system of eliminating a numerical value to a game or movie or whatever. But adding a review system where there's a scale that obscures any point of reference - even better. I give your review 18 out of...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Hmmm... never thought I'd be living in a world where no thumbs up one's bum is a bad thing, yet here we are... :? During the opening credits to Detective Pikachu, a little company logo popped up for Toho, which made me smile a little, because the night previously I watched a little 1954 movie that g...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I saw Detective Pikachu. It was a fun time, hit a lot of nostalgic moments for myself. It's definitely the best video game movie (though, I like Warcraft), but I really do feel that Pokemon is so big, that it almost escapes that categorization. It's definitely PG-action, all of it rather toothless,...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Prospect is had been on my radar for a while... I forgot about it until it turned up quietly on Netflix. Must get to it. Because I'm far behind on my Marvel movies, I skipped Endgame and decided to see Detective Pikachu instead. I don't have the baggage of life-long-hardcore Pokemon fan, and gotta s...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
So even if all the episodes came out to rave reviews you wouldn’t buy it because it’s episodic? I don’t understand that at all. And even when the whole thing was out and discounted? I don’t believe that. Well... never say never, right? ;) But as this point in time (and times do change), I barely ha...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
I guess the upside of it being episodic is that I'll save myself a little bit of money, from not purchasing it. So... for me, that's handy?

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
FF7R looks mostly fantastic. The colour palette is dead-on, which is one of the most important things about that game. I really like the look of most of the art, except maybe Barrett's design which feels a little off to me. I love the character swapping mechanic, something I've been loving to bits ...

Re: Retro gaming
Over the last couple of years, because I rent a villa alongside a few retirees, I've had some wonderfully quiet neighbours. Also, more to the point, I've been able to pick up a CRT or two, either because people have passed away, or their children have sold them on modern TV's. There was a elderly co...
