Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

You could sign in with a guest account each time you play, but you'd need to backup your save data before logging out each time. Bit of a faff but that might work for you!

Re: Elden Ring

Sadly I think I'm close to abandoning this one (or at least leaving it for a little time). The first 20-30 hours were glorious, right up until the end of Stormveil Castle. I'm now 80 hours in and mooching around Altus Plateau but it's just not grabbing me the way it used to. It's starting to feel m...

Re: Elden Ring

Managed to make my way through the majority of the second legacy dungeon up to the boss, beat the boss in the secret area down the long elevator (begins with an S) Hang on, are you talking about the Academy of Raya Lucaria? There's a secret boss there!? Sorry no, I was trying to be clever here and ...

Re: Elden Ring

Had a good couple of sessions this weekend. Managed to make my way through the majority of the second legacy dungeon up to the boss, beat the boss in the secret area down the long elevator (begins with an S), and a bit of side stuff. I hadn't planned on it taking over my weekend but I was having suc...

Re: 522: What Remains of Edith Finch

Edith Finch was a very moving game for me. I loved unlocking each room in this house ripped straight from a children’s tale, and how the story is told through Edith and her reflections on her family and their deaths. Each memory is presented in a unique way that captures the character of that person...

Re: 533: Cuphead

Cuphead’s been on my radar since E3 2014, but I hadn’t picked it up until I saw it on the list of upcoming episodes. The art style grabbed my attention. It’s absolutely wonderful and a reward in itself, where each new level, boss and map is beautifully coloured and full of expressive, creative and h...

Re: Elden Ring

Are you talking about the weird old lady thing on the bridge? I listened to her but haven't found the place she mentioned yet. Nope don't think I've met her. I'm talking about something that the merchant at the Church of Elleh will tell you if you encounter something, won't say more than that to av...

Re: Elden Ring

I played through a bit of Stormveil Castle yesterday too. Having a proper jump ability adds even more dimension to these areas. It takes that feeling of clambering along the ramparts of Anor Londo or the towers of Castle Cainhurst but puts it in the players hands. I'm sizing up and diving on to roof...

Re: Elden Ring

I'm basically the opposite on everything you said KissMammal  I don't think people will like this game if they hate Souls, it's still a Souls game, but I do think this game is good if you liked Souls but bounced off of it due to feeling bottle-necked. I'm finding it much easier to farm the basi...

Re: Elden Ring

Started the game yesterday evening and had a good day's play today. I went for samurai after about fifteen minutes of dithering and am really enjoying the skill set with the sword. I've spent most of my time exploring, discovering new areas and characters, been down the odd catacomb but no bosses de...

Re: Elden Ring

Very excited by these reviews! It sounds like a huge, great game, but also a great gateway into Soulsborne games. My brother has pre-ordered it despite being non-committal when I've recommended these games to him, which is pretty awesome. I can't wait to chat about it with him. I'll pick it up on di...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm having a bit of a quiet period for games in the run up to the Elden Ring release. I'm planning to wait a day or two to check the reviews and watch people play a bit, just to make sure it's not a Cyberpunk situation. Seems unlikely as I'm not seeing any warning signs, but better safe than sorry. ...

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III

Nice job Simon! Ringed City is definitely hard, bit of a slog at times but great overall. Last couple of bosses are tough but a great finale for the series.

Re: Games Completed 2022

Jan 7th - Little Nightmares 2 Jan 15th - Final Fantasy IX Feb 3rd - Deathloop I was gifted this for Christmas, thought I'd dive into it straight away, and I had a fun time overall. This game feels less like a timeloop and more like a response to criticism of Dishonored's chaos system being too rigid...

Re: Your Top 50 Games of All Time Lists

Hey! Someone else with Oracle of Ages in their list! While its status as my first Zelda helps it make mine, I also think its one of the finest 2D Zeldas and my favourite implementation of the dual world/time mechanic in the series. Awesome! It was my first one too, well the first I owned and finish...

Here's my list: https://www.backloggd.com/u/markfm007/list/top-50-games-of-all-time-january-2022/ Love reading other people's lists, and really enjoyed doing this. It's interesting ranking games against each other that you've loved at different times in your life, often for completely different reas...

Re: Games Completed 2022

Jan 7th - Little Nightmares 2 Jan 15th - Final Fantasy IX Finally finished this one after months of playing it on and off. I was gearing up for a drawn out end game after playing X, but it wasn’t too bad. Overall I really enjoyed this game. It has similar downsides to X in terms of random battle spa...

Re: Games Completed 2022

Jan 7th - Little Nightmares 2 Great sequel overall. Still hampered by unreliable controls and a camera that struggles to convey depth perception. Far too many frustrating deaths can deflate the experience. It's a shame as everything else is so good. Enemies are brilliant, an unnerving mix of creepy ...
