Re: Our next podcast recording (3.12.23) - 598: Slay the Spire
I've enjoyed the idea of card-battling games since first playing Cardfighters Clash right up to the recent Marvel's Midnight Suns and I'm a big fan of different kinds of deck-building mechanisms in board games. Slay the Spire was an instant buy for me. I think one thing that those games have in comm...

Thanks. Good shout with the type of music, I just couldn't imagine another videogame that would be a more natural fit for me.Simonsloth wrote: ↑May 20th, 2020, 11:30 pm Amazing choice. To me it felt like a Spanish hotel lobby’s evening mode music. If you close your eyes you can almost smell the mojitos.

Re: April 2020 podcast
I'm a bit behind but I've just listened to the podcast and I thought you might want to hear from a primary teacher’s point of view regarding the history chat. Of course, schools are very different today. I remember one teacher telling me when I started teaching that she had taught a lesson about vik...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
I've been playing through Borderlands 3, a game that I was not expecting many surprises from but one that has managed to throw a few unexpected moments my way. It's fair to say when this particular boss fight began, I was not prepared to hear this piece of music. To me it felt very much like I shoul...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise (or Hokuto Ga Gotuku if you want to find the soundtrack anywhere) is an absurd game that has kept me entertained for hours now. It has some great music but the developers appear to make you want to work for it. There are excellent driving tracks but If you want t...

Re: Our next Resident Evil podcast recording (8.9.18) - 336: Resident Evil 4 (Biohazard 4)
My most played Gamecube game. In a time when I had far more disposable income and time, this was the game I dedicated more time to than any other. Having played and enjoyed the previous games, I welcomed the changes made for 4. The controls felt to me like a progression from the last game and weren’...

Cool, looking forward to it. I'll probably play the PC version that's been sitting on my Steam list judging me.

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
As someone who has played a great deal of JRPGs and Resident Evil, this looks like a great year ahead. For me at least. I hope there's not too much grinding for the team. Can I ask what's going on with the Resident Evil 4? I might have missed something. Will it be a revisiting episode, a different t...

Re: 301: Resident Evil (1996) *recording 07.01.2018
There are many significant differences between the two games than a visual overhaul The awesome FMV intro for one. I only have one other thing to say: This game may have affected me more than I care to admit. I can't play the piano but I taught myself the opening of Moonlight Sonata. Just in case.

Re: 302: Bleed and Bleed 2
The inclusion on a Cane and Rinse list will usually make me check out a game I might have previously overlooked. The post above however, convinced me to buy it and move it to the top of my Steam list. After a few hours and multiple deaths, I've seen the ending on Normal. Much of what Simonsloth says...

Re: Our next podcast recording (26.8.17): Destiny
A bit of context: I bought a PS4 second hand with a copy of the original disc earlier this year. Advice from the forum as well as a few friends who'd played Destiny from the start convinced me to go all in and purchase all the DLC at a very reasonable price in May. I'm not going to repeat what I’ve ...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
The theme for the Italian stage is the game's most bombastic theme by far and it does it's job lending what would be a regular fight into a epic duel between titans. Although, I don't have the love for Tekken that you seem to (I like it well enough, played 1-4), I added this to a playlist immediate...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
So the other day, in between the downpours, we had a lovely bit of sunshine and I was walking around, whistling this tune but couldn't remember what it was from. When I finally remembered what it was from, my already good mood was elevated into pure bliss. A celebratory piece that felt like it was u...

For House of Wolves and...the other one (can't remember it's name, it was that forgettable) Finished the other one within the last two weeks and I can't remember either. I'm mopping up The Taken King at the moment and it has been enjoyable. Having paid so little for all of the DLC might be colourin...

Re: Destiny / The Taken King
Thanks for the advice, both the positive and cautionary words have been taken on board. Going for it; the collection is all the DLC included and was £21 on PS+. Sounds like there's enough fun to be had, even in solo play. I don't think I'll go too far down the rabbit hole. We'll see.

Re: Destiny / The Taken King
I know this is recurring question on this thread but is the Destiny Collection still worth getting into? It's on sale on the Playstation Store at the moment. Very quickly: Only have the original disc. No expansions. I enjoyed what I played. Only played through the basic campaign missions once, liked...

Re: Flashback
Flashback is a special game to me. I would have been around 15/16 the first time The is true for me too. When I saw it was being covered by Cane and Rinse, I was delighted. It evokes so many memories for me from that time. The wonderful rotoscope animation, the shameless Running Man and Total Recal...

Great episode! Some really fond memories for me, particularly Thunderforce III. I remember 'converting' my Mega Drive with a compass so I could play my first Japanese import.
Really enjoying these longer specials. Appreciate the extra effort.

Re: Capcom Versus series
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium - Neo Geo Pocket Color. Must second this. All true. Marvel Super Heroes and X-Men were great on the Saturn and that joypad was pretty good for fighters. I heard the PlayStation versions weren't great so I stayed away. Marvel vs Capcom on the Dreamcast loo...

Re: Life Is Strange
There was no 'selfie' in the 90s though! ;) Ah, very true! I'd somehow forgotten it's a relatively new term. However, as we've all had to hear multiple times, they've been around since the 1800s and this "generation was not the first to use images for selfie-expression". I reall...
