I haven't been there yet, but just discovered this place is a 20 minute drive from my house!

Real pinball tables, loads of them! And games! I can't wait to go!
Ooh that looks great! I hadnt heard of that. Let me know if it’s any good.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Really really enjoying Prey. Delighted to hear it, as the beginning can be a bit finicky. It didn't click for me until several hours in. You'll be glad to hear it...errrr....broadens and deepens as you go along too. I was a bit worried at first because I died extremely quickly multiple times until ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Really really enjoying Prey.

I had no idea it was a Dishonored-Bioshock-Deus ex hybrid. All 3 games are things I really enjoy so this seems right up my street. Pleasantly surprised.

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

I just upgraded and have saved myself money by doing absolutely nothing. I now pay nothing until Feb 2020!

So bizarre. It is a little naughty in another sense as those who don’t switch to ultimate will end up paying the two separate subs. I thought it would happen automatically.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

You really do have to have played the previous 18 instalments. They're very lore and story heavy. The three part novelisation "Rise of the Bothemian knights" covers it all in detail, quicker than playing through all the games. Avoid the audiobooks read by famous commentators though, their laid back...

Re: Games Completed 2019

I installed Prey 2017 last night so that’s going to be my next conquest. I know you’re a fan of mooncrash but is that paid DLC or included. Paid dlc unless you’re lucky enough to have the deluxe version I’m afraid :? Time enough for that later when you find out if you like the base game. And I have...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Are you going to dive right in to the sequel or take a break? I can see both approaches working but would want to take a break myself. The sequel is really something to look forward to, it’s a very interesting example of the genre mash-ups we’ve seen later this gen. Possibly at the expense of the ‘...

Re: What classic games or series are still to be looked at by C&R that you hope get covered in the future?

Aside from Metroid I’d like to see a little bit more from some of the series already covered on the podcast. Before tackling a new series would be nice to tie off a few missing titles E.g Zero escape trilogy (having covered 999) Drakengard trilogy (having covered nier) Donkey Konga Monkey Island 3 D...

Re: All Things Jurassic Park

The only downside is Malcolm spends the second half of the book injured and whacked out on painkillers again. It being Dodgson that infiltrates the island instead of Ingen makes much more sense though. And obviously the less said about the final act of the film the better. Haha. This was a running ...

Re: All Things Jurassic Park

one of those rare cases of a movie adaptation that is far superior to the book it was based on I could massively argue this but don't want to derail the thread. To each their own... Im going to camp in the middle ground. I think both are fantastic examples of their separate medium. It’s Lost World ...

Re: Retro gaming

For instance, I find Pilotwings (initially), rather rough looking and fuzzy, after a while like all things you just get used to it and it’s perfectly fine and isn’t really set up to be a looker anyway. On the other end of the scale, Doom 64 looks incredible. The colouring and depth of colour is lov...

Re: Comic Book Chatter

http://www.comicscube.com/2012/10/a-starman-retrospective-introduction.html I found plenty of retrospectives but most had spoilers. This one doesn’t. There’s only a few comments at the end of the short article but they resonate with me. Starman would be my desert island comic book series. It is in ...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

I’m not really one for TV at all and very rarely actually watch anything. But, a mate put me into the new series that’s started on Sky Atlantic - Chernobyl. Watched the first episode last night, it’s haunting, so chilling. Excellent stuff. If you have a morbid interested in that human disaster, the...

Re: Retro gaming

Worth noting that outside of Goldeneye and the odd couch multiplayer this is the first N64 game I’ve played myself.

I played a few other N64 games on Wii virtual console and found them difficult to control. However on original hardware they feel really good. The stick is lovely.

Re: Comic Book Chatter

Preacher, Y The Last Man, American Gods, Gotham Central, Sandman... Fables is good, too. That’s a really good list. I’d add Garth Ennis’ The Boys to the list and stick it right near the top. If you handle the graphic nature and twisted sense of humour then you will love it. My recommendation would ...

Re: Retro gaming

So I did something that put me in my wife’s bad books. I’ve added a CRT tv to my otherwise extremely cluttered “office” but I couldn’t resist. The Donkey Konga bongos were so wildly off on my flatscreen I had to get one sooner or later. It’s a design and model I would have scoffed at back in the da...

Re: 374: Furi

If I were to distill Furi down to its separate components visuals, audio and gameplay then two of those parts are in my opinion incredible. The visual aesthetic is wonderful and appeals directly to my tastes after all the character design was by Takashi Okazaki the creator of Afro Samurai. The sound...
