Re: Work and Jobs and Stuff

Well done for posting. I think it’s easy to forget we all have our own experiences and knowledge outside of the games world which are useful to tap into. I jumped from school to university to work without a break although I wish I had one. I’ve worked in about 11 different hospitals/healthcare envir...

Re: Games Completed 2019

March 19 - Donkey Kong 64 Finishing DK64 for the second time (first being on launch) was quite the experience. A good experience? I’m planning on tackling it for the first time. For my personal tastes: Not as bad as the internet has made it to be but no way near Rares best output. Thanks Darren. I’...

Re: Videogame Deals

Massive price reduction on Observer on PSn which is on podcast list. Think it’s on gamepass but for anyone without an Xbox its a big drop from its usual £25 price point.

Re: Google Stadia

Everything has to start somewhere. If I was a film director (a big muscly one that drove a fast car), I still wouldn't use CGI for special effects, I still don't think it can hold a candle to a well lit rubber dummy, and stop motion animation may be antiquated but it has a lot more artistic charm. ...

Re: Google Stadia

I’m a PlayStation now subscriber. On my moderate speed internet connection it is seamless and lag free. Admittedly I am playing PS3 and older titles so the fact it’s not in 4K isn’t an issue and the games look identical to when played on original hardware. However it’s not the way I would play Horiz...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

Bethesda, EA... Pass. They don't need me and I don't need them. Unless it's a proper new Burnout made by Criterion with a full-fledged singleplayer campaign, old-school linear tracks, solid online multiplayer and zero microtransactions nonsense, of course. An owl can dream. I hoping owl’s dreams co...

Re: 363: This War of Mine

This war of mine is terrible. By this I mean bleak, disturbing and because it made me question my own morality. Be it Mass Effect or a Telltale adventure I generally try to think what I would do in the given situation. If there’s a binary choice of good or bad I will opt for the positive outcome. Vi...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've been binging my way through The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies since Friday, so I'm thinking of picking up Shadow of Mordor to continue my time in Middle-Earth. Have many people on here played it and how do you think it holds up in 2019? It's basically an Ubisoft style open world g...

Re: Association Football (aka 'Soccer' / "The Beautiful Game")

I wouldn’t advise sitting in with home fans at the New Den tomorrow Leon!

I feel uncomfortable sitting with the home fans on certain match days and im a Millwall supporter!

Re: Sound of Play: 189

Maybe you should start every episode with the Grandia theme?

Its nice having these all request specials every now and then. I'm curious whether you kick back DJ style and listen to the music or whether you record the dialogue then edit in the music after?

It’s the latest one as far as I’m aware.

THEC64 Mini https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0764BK6L1/ ... ICb056ED0X

Very nice bit of kit so I’m delighted.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I’ve just hooked up my “new” C64 mini and although the controller is a bit sensitive everything else is spot on. There’s a plethora of games some of which I had completely forgotten about and the system is designed to be updated. The keyboard itself is wonderful. It’s precisely the opposite of PlayS...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

Kholat would be a good one as it does have a lot of interesting history around it with it being ''based'' around something that actually happened. Plus Sean Bean. Parts of it were amazing but it’s an exercise in endurance for sure as there are sequences that made me furious. Would make a great disc...

Re: Our next podcast recording (11.3.19) - 360: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I was never going to finish this in time but Breath of the Wild reminds me of Zelda 2 in the sense it does not feel like a Zelda game. I’ve never been the biggest fan of the franchise so it’s the entries that offer variations on the ordinary theme which hold my interest the most. The world is barren...
