Re: 589: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series
I feel like most of my criticisms of Rogue Leader were addressed in Rebel Strike, you get this big carrot cone on your map that guides you on where you need go for your next objective and when you need to protect an ally ship its coated green when you look at it in your targeting computer. Such a sm...

Re: 589: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series
I tried out Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader for the show and i'm bummed out to say that I didn't really enjoy my time with it. Maybe i'm spoiled by modern gaming but I thought the game did a poor job communicating information to the player in the heat of battle, especially when you need to escort sm...

Re: Our next podcast recording (15.8.21): 482 - The King of Fighters series
My very first encounter with the KOF series was way back in middle school with KOF EX: Neo Blood on the Gameboy advance. I was absolutely trash with the game but i was won over by the general attitude of the game as a whole. Much like street fighter you had these individuals that seemed to possess s...

Do you binge play video games or take your time?
I watched this video on youtube that i found to be interesting titled 'Are you a binger or a drifter ~ Psych of Play' that discussed two of the ways many people consume games. I myself have tended to be a binger in the past with my objective being to get through a game quickly so that i could experi...

Re: 472 - Duke Nukem Forever
I think the thing i enjoyed the most about Duke Nukem were the parts where Duke had to shrink down to action figure size in order to navigate an area or solve a puzzle. Even though its never explained why the heck the aliens are placing shrink pits in random places these parts gave me some nostalgia...

Re: PS1 games and exclusives leaving PSN - Grab them while you can!
Great thread! Sadly the UK store is a bit anaemic compared to the US one (over 100 less games!) and a number of the titles listed by Nyx aren't available here. No Mega Man Legends games, no Tron Bonne, no Bloody Roar....the list goes on! While there are exceptions, there also seems to be a rule tha...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
The Dynasty Warriors series has always been a series i hold near and dear to my heart. I know the games aren't for everyone, but they are what introduced me to the hack and slash genre as well as getting me invested in ancient chinese culture and rock music. Dynasty Warriors 7 i remember very fondly...

Re: Black Myth: Wu Kong
Just from what they've showed already it looks amazing. They definitely have the art style and graphics down pat, and the gameplay looks right up my alley. I just hope that the story is engaging, i know of 'Journey to the West' but i dont think ive experienced the story in any kind of medium. This l...

Im not sure if this has been played already or not, but my pick would have to be 'A Scattered Moment' from Yakuza Kiwami 2, composed by Hidenori Shoji. When I think of Final Boss themes i tend to envision something bombastic, something that is equal parts menacing and energetic in a way that makes y...

Re: Our next podcast recording (2.2.20) - 404: Assassin's Creed Origins
Open world games are in a weird place for me when it comes to my preferences. Where at one time i would look at a game like GTA 3 or the original Assassin's Creed with a sense of glee at being able to explore and experiment as much as the game would allow me, nowadays i find myself stressed out and ...

Re: Our next podcast recording (25.1.20) - 403: Resident Evil 2 (2019)
Right off the bat i have to give my utmost praise to Capcom for the graphics and atmosphere they managed to convey with this game. From the wet slickness of objects and characters when you go out into the rain, to the design of the locations themselves, it seems like everything was crafted deliberat...

Re: 356: NieR: Automata
When I first played through Nier Automata last year it left me feeling very conflicted. At first the game wasn't even on my radar until friends of mine brought it to my attention, proudly saying that it was one of the best games they'd played this generation. I was unconvinced, but as I began to res...

Re: 310: BioShock Infinite
I feel there is alot i want to say about Bioshock Infinite but i am going to try to keep this as short as possible. I initially played Infinite near its release date while i was still in high school. As with most teens i had alot of angst that i was dealing with, alongside trying to find out my own ...
