Video Game Collection Vs. Sunlight

Henlo gentlemans and ladies. I'm about to move to a new apartment in London - not that London - and I'm fretting over something quite silly. The best place to put my gaming setup happens to be right beside a large window... And I'm very concerned that being right beside the sunlight will cause my ga...

Re: The more I go back to last gen, the worse it seems (PS3 and 360)

I think it depends largely on what you're playing. Like, once upon a time, Batman Forever on the Sega Genesis was said to have "realistic" graphics for its digitized assets. Now it looks like rancid arse, while something like Sonic 3 still holds up super well. *In general*, low framerates and screen...

Re: 378: INSIDE

I'm writing this immediately after having played INSIDE all the way through in a single sitting, and my primary thought is... What in the world was all the hype about? I had read that this game was some kind of revolutionary, groundbreaking, artistic masterpiece. And to be blunt, it wasn't. I had re...

... Alternatively, I'm gonna say Polymega. Because it plays everything. But I presume aftermarket consoles don't count. ;P

Re: If you could only pick one console...

Probably PS4 because many of the best PS2 and PS3 games have been remastered on it. Plus it has an outstanding library itself.

Fanatical is legit though, CDKeys sells pirated keys and review codes, don't they?

Rage 2 is on Fanatical.com for 17% off. Why pay full price on launch day?

Re: What's Out This Week?

I’m not sure if I missed something but Fallout 76 aside I think Bethesda have been relatively consistent. Although aggregate scores aren’t stellar some of the Rage 2 reviews have been individually favourable like the IGN review. I wouldnt write them off just yet. Fallout 4 was also garbage, unless ...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Rage 2 ain't doing so hot in reviews. It's got a 73 on Metacritic (4.4 user score), and a 62% positive "Mixed" score on Steam. There appears to be *some* review bombing because it has Denuvo or something, but there's also plenty of reviews complaining it's plagued with bugs and kind of boring, even ...

I played the PS4 version. Can't comment on the quality of the PC port, sadly.

Re: Games Completed 2019

I beat Ys VIII today. In-game clock is close to 50 hours, which is accurate to the HLTB estimate. I gotta say, freaking phenomenal game. When it comes to JRPGs, I have this weird love/hate relationship - I LOVE the really good ones, but I have disdain for the ones that meander around for hours (Pers...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Agree 1000% that Capcom DMC is dated af. Normally I'd be fine to let bygones be bygones, but I'm legit still angry at the original series fans for so aggressively metabombing and shunning Ninja Theory DMC to such a degree that it'll likely never have a sequel. I don't think I've ever seen a more tox...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Actually, now that I think about it, Ethan Carter, KONA and The Fidelio Incident are all really interesting games for the majority of the play time, but they're all ruined by a cliché or dull ending. It seems to be endemic to walking simulators - the folks making them know how to build interesting w...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I suggest playing Ethan Carter til the end. It's one of two games (KONA being the other) that made me say, "Oh, fuck youuuuuu" at the ending. Think of the dumbest possible explanation for all the supernatural stuff, the most cliché college film student explanation, and you'll probably be right.

Re: What's Out This Week?

I want Rage 2, but I don't full price want it. I do have $77 in credit at a game shop down in Mississauga though... hmmst. Lemme finish Ys VIII and decide after that. I'm tempted to go to Yakuza 0 (half done, been a year since last played) or Dawn of Sorrow next.

Re: Retro gaming

Garage sale hunting became a really big problem in Ontario. A bunch of game collectors would literally camp out neighbourhood garage sales in advance and buy up everything so they could re-sell it. It was like an industry. I know Ivan, the guy who runs Toyratt in Milton (he has a reputation in GTA g...

Re: Retro gaming

I'll never understand how people get these thrift store finds. Every time I look, the shops know exactly what things are worth. My brother and I found a copy of Earthbound at a Value Village, torn label, they wanted $150.

Re: Wario Land 3

If you haven't played it, I really recommend the Virtual Boy Wario game. I watched a Let's Play on a greyscale emulator, and it's completely playable in 2D - and it looks fun as hell. I'm REALLY hit-and-miss when it comes to Nintendo games, but this one seems like a big winner.
