Re: Books completed (and general book talk)
This is on my list to read, probably next October. I ended up reading Final Girls by Riley Sager this year. And then found out there was a book even before that called The Last Final Girl . It's becoming it's own genre. I just started My Heart Is A Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones and I think you'r...

Re: Books completed (and general book talk)
Finished The Final Girls Support Group by Grady Hendrix. In Hendrix's world, all major slasher film series are based on actual crimes, with real life 'final girls' who survived the attacks. These women are now in their late thirties and forties and still gather together for group therapy sessions, w...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Finished the main storyline in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint . To call it a trashfire would be kind. Still, I'm a glutton for punishment, so I've continued on with the Splinter Cell DLC. To its credit, it seems more put together than any of the previous narratives. Also just started Judgement . Still earl...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Watched the Fear Street trilogy. Loved it. I even listened to the director talk about the film on Mick Garris' podcast, which is recommended. She talks about the music she wanted in the film, and two songs that she just couldn't land. Interesting stuff. Watched Gunpowder Milkshake . It probably look...

Re: Games Completed 2021
I have tried so hard to like Breakpoint. (insert sigh).
Got the Platinum on Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Over 200 hours of Kassandra owning fools.

Re: Comic Book Chatter
Read Golden Kamuy Volume One . I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but a combination heist/revenge plot set in early twentieth century Japan-- with no superpowers or magic-- wasn't it. Aside from the adventure, it also introduced me to the Ainu, a persecuted people in Japan that I had no idea even e...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Finished Demon Slayer. I thought the writing was good, and the animation was beautiful enough to make me forget I was grinding my teeth over how irritating two of the characters were. One episode to go on Bodyguard, which is vintage Jed Mercurio.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been getting my dailies done in Red Dead Online (where the toxicity has reached new levels of horrible of late) and started on Persona 5 two days ago. What a gorgeous game.

Vargr is very good Bond. I picked up the latest issue by Vita Ayala and Danny Lore and the quality continues.

Re: Let's have a thread about the virus, then. We might as well.
People are putting funny pictures in their windows to try and alleviate the mood. A simple child's drawing of a goofy face with crossed eyes and a stuck out tongue made me laugh out loud. As well, messages are being written with chalk on sidewalks and laneways. My favourite I saw tonight said simply...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Unlike Isopod, my job wasn't considered essential--yet--so I'm at home. I'm still trying to finish the RDR2 storyline, along with keeping up my online daily streak. For some reason, I ended up with a copy of NBA 2K 20, so even though I don't play sports games, I fired this up last night. I won a gam...

Re: Books completed
I also read Jo Walton's Among Others, a fantasy book that's as much a love letter to scifi and fantasy books as it is it's own coming of age story. Also a good read. That's one of my favourites. If you ever wanted a list of 70s science fiction to read, just go by the books Morwenna reads. I quite h...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
My wife gave me Assassin's Creed Odyssey for Christmas, so I"m about 14 hours into that. I'm playing as Kassandra and love watching her get angry. 'Malaka' is now part of my everyday vocabulary.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been trying to platinum Star Wars Battlefront 2 because I like challenging myself with things that are borderline insane. I also picked up The Division 2 since I'm done with Black Ops 4 and needed a new military shooter that allows me not to think. I'm glad to report that Division succeeds in t...

Re: The "Introduce yourself" thread
I'm also an older gamer, sailing merrily into my mid-fifties. Welcome. I wonder what % of people our age still play games. IRL none of my mates play. Do you think there's still a stigma about gaming for people of our generation? Well, speaking as a 54 year old Canadian, I can say there has always b...

Re: The "Introduce yourself" thread
I'm also an older gamer, sailing merrily into my mid-fifties. I came across Cane and Rinse a few years ago, and it very quickly became one of my favourite podcasts. Like Default, I also remember when Pong came out, and what a marvel it seemed at the time. I had a Colecovision back in the Eighties, b...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Playing Detroit: Become Human. There have been one or two eye rolling moments, but for the most part, it feels like the sort of science fiction film that comes out in the fall before the Christmas blockbusters.
