Nice choice Richard. I haven't got to that game yet myself but it looks right up my street.

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

I love SID chip music and I suspect I'm not the only one of a certain vintage who does. When I hear a piece of well composed SID chip music, there is a warm and fuzzy nostalgia which washes over me. The ironic thing about this selection is that it's not from a retro game. It's a game released in 201...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

This year, I've played through the entire output of Francisco Gonzalez, beginning with his very indie origins with the Ben Jordan series and culminating with the excellent Lamplight City. Francisco (also known as Grundislav Games) produces high quality point and click adventures. The quality of the ...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

I'm surprised at how little Ys music has been played on Sound of Play (at least as far as I can recall). I've recently played through the Turbo Grafx CD version of Ys Books I & II and with that red book audio, Yuzo Koshiro's original compositions really stand out. There is so much good music in the ...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

In these challenging and uncertain times, people need more Mario in their lives. This is the ending them from Super Mario Bros 2, one of my favourite NES tracks. Finishing the game on real hardware is a challenge, it rewards with you with a triumphant first half of the track and then transitions to ...

Re: Resident Evil 6 co op partner wanted

@Alex79UK - I think I do want to play it I feel like I need to experience it for myself and, after all, it is Resident Evil, how bad can it be?? :) @Simonsloth - I've just picked it up on PS3 on eBay for practically pennies. I'll hang fire for a while and play something else. Let me know when you wa...

Resident Evil 6 co op partner wanted

Hi all

I'm looking for a Resident Evil 6 co op partner. Sadistic I know but it's next in line and i need to play it. I suspect it will be more fun to play it with somebody.

I propose to play on Xbox 360.

Is anybody interested?

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

Over in the Retro Asylum game club, we're playing Loom this month. It's a game that I've tried to get through many times but something put me off. Well, that's now changed. I'm now on my second playthrough and I'm playing through the "talkie" or CD ROM version of the game released in 1992. The origi...

Re: The Last Guardian - Cane and Rinse 347

I realise I'm massively behind the curve on this, but I've just started Last Guardian (inspired by episode 4 of the podcast). If anybody else is playing through and wants to share thoughts as they go, hit me up. My initial thoughts: that camera, that camera and that camera!! But the spectacle is wow...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

The music in Cannon Fodder is quite rightly lauded and most gamers of a certain age can instantly recall the intro music. However, the music which plays over the death in service screen at the end of each mission is also pretty wonderful. There is perma-death in Cannon Fodder so when you lost that f...

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording (19.1.20) - 402: God of War (2018)

As somebody who spends a lot of time playing classic video games, the first thing to him me about God of War was the incredible production values. The game looks and sounds beautiful. The voice acting is Hollywood quality and it has convinced me that the medium can and does rival movies in terms of ...

Re: Console Special No.7: Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP)

I want to declare an interest: I love the PSP (and the Vita)! Of all the (I hate to think!) consoles and computers I have bought over the past 30 or so years, I have the strongest and fondest memories of picking up the Vita. In 2005, I travelled for 8 weeks around South America. Being an avid gamer ...

I'm interested in Dragon's Quest. I've never played a Dragon's Quest game, despite loving old school JRPGs!
