Re: 475 - Quake
Chapter 2 complete. I completed more that 3/4 of this chapter the day I finished chapter 1, but the last two levels really stuck it to me. Quake began to throw its bigger enemies at me more frequently and sometimes more than one of them at a time. I know that's classic ID fashion but in this game th...

Re: Shmups
@Michiel, you've got a "new" member in that choir. Currently searching for a PVM that won't cost me an arm and a leg. My current setup is a 32' Phillips Magnovox MX series. It's a great tv but I'd like something smaller with a better picture.

Re: Shmups
@Michiel, CRT life for the win. Nothing beats playing these older games on the proper display. Ikaruga is at its best once you get in a groove with the chaining. It takes some major dedication to memorization of each screen, at least for me, as I don't read the game fast enough in the moment. I've b...

Re: 475 - Quake
Chapter 1 finished. 10 hours in and I finally have a good rhythm with the weapons and enemies. The first 8 hours really had me wondering if I was going to enjoy playing Quake at all. Enemies were stomping the crap out of me and ammo depleted so fast. Not wanting to give up I kept pushing forward. Th...

Re: Shmups
Just checked those games out Michiel. I'm new too the forum but I've been a shmup fan most of my life. Most of my experiences are with games from the Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, and of course the arcades (I'm 32 and was lucky enough to have an arcade near my childhood home). Recently I picked up a Dream...

Re: Games Completed 2021
Firewatch What a wonderful small bite of a game. I spent 5 hours playing while screen sharing and chatting with a friend across the country. We both love how the game played with our emotions and expectations. Excellent writing and visuals and the casualness of the gameplay were a perfect match for ...

Re: 489 - Death Stranding
Death Stranding was easily the most excited I was for any game last generation. I watched every trailer more times than anyone should, and on the week leading up to the release my roommates and I had no problem watching all the trailers back to back everyday. The night the game came out we even made...

Re: Our next podcast recording (27.2.21): 458 - Dragon Age II
My experience with the game never happened. Dragons Age Origins had taken me for a complete surprise. I had been gifted the game, along with Bad Company 2, out of the blue. I'm not sure I had even heard of the game prior, although I did know about Bioware and their previous games, even if I had neve...

Re: 490 - Metroid II: Return of Samus
I played this game as a child. While I never completed it, I was maybe 7 at the time, I do have a clear memory of playing it in the car as my parents were shopping for whatever and having the sun dropping in the sky. What a bummer non backlit screens were back in the day. That being said, I enjoyed ...

Re: 478 - Ghost of Tsushima
I had zero interest in this game when it was shown off and leading up to the games release. However, when the game released the world was in the middle of a pandemic and me and my roommates were taking the time to play through my backlog, newer AAA games ( I was still working so no need to save ever...

Re: 475 - Quake
I've, just this evening, started Quake for the first time. I figured I'd check in here a few time during my time with the game and update how I'm feeling about it. Currently I'm two levels in on Episode 1 with the difficulty set to hard. For a little bit of history about myself I've been a pretty he...
