Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I'll admit that this is game accessibility's version of 'first-world problems' but it is a niggle. I'm 1.5 hours into The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD and I want to give the motion controls a proper go as that is how the game was originally designed. There is a slight problem though, I'm left-...

Re: Elden Ring
My pre-order has now shown up on my PS4 homescreen. I wonder if I'll like it. It seems more Dark Souls than Bloodborne, and while I love Bloodborne with all my nerdy heart (on my third playthrough now), I keep bouncing off the DS games (I do plan to go back to them though) and Sekiro proved too diff...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Horizon Forbidden West on the PS4 and it is great. Horizon Zero Dawn was the first game I ever played on a PlayStation and so I have a big soft spot for it. Very long spoiler-free* ramble (v sorry in advance please ignore, am just thinking outloud) * except briefly mentioning two minor charac...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
It's not clicked for me like Bloodborne did... I'm not sure if I'm continuing out of stubbornness/lack of other things I want to play. I wonder if I should just play somethinf else for a while and go back to it. It might just be low mood generally though. I'm trying to put my finger on what I don't ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I took a break from Sekiro and started it again from the beginning on Boxing Day. It's going a bit better now I understand levelling up etc this time (I'm not smart). Have just beat horse man in the main timeline and veat the shinobi hunter in the Hirata timeline yesterday. I still genuinely don't k...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
- I gave up on Ghost of Tsushima after a few hours (keep meaning to go back) but in terms of setting and atmosphere this is much more what I wanted from that game, in part because this game doesn't default to the "everyone talks about honour all the time" trope that a lot of Western compa...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I saw a tweet from Andy Miller (I think?) defending his love of Wes Anderson - yes he does the same film over and over again but no one else makes a Wes Anderson film like he does. There is comfort in knowing what you're getting and knowing that the creators of the whatever know what they're doing a...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
It might also be that I'm so rubbish I have to keep redoing the run-ups more than the average player  I think for me the stealth feels pretty superficial. Any time I get caught I run away and they forget about me - so it's time consuming but I don't feel peril. Someone sees me, the music change...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I think learning the combat in Sekiro would make me less frustrated if the lead up to the minibosses was more fun. I find the stealth not particularly fun and more laborious, but I quite enjoyed the repeated run-ups in Bloodborne (or at the very least I could run past most of them). But I really wan...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I'm just so bad at Sekiro that I wonder if for me it's less of a steep learning curve and more like I'm playing with my hands tied behind my back. I have a feeling I'm just not good enough for the game even using guides and tutorials. It might just be a lack of dexterity generally (I'm clumsy). I fe...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I played Bloodborne with no idea what builds even are (I know now but even still I'm not good at understanding why to pick which type etc) and got through it ok, so might be worth trying that one? Plus if you don't mind grinding you can always change your character's skills later (in my NG I'm letti...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I have a (bad?) habit of always wanting to go to the game most mechanically similar to the last one I really enjoyed, and I don't mind spoilers, so it has led to me doing franchises out of order (my first - and only!!! - Uncharted game was Uncharted 4, after I finished TLOU2). So I've been sampling ...

Re: Games Completed 2021
Loved hearing your account of Bloodborne Miririn! I felt very similar once I beat that game. And now I could read people's posts about their experience of it forever more! Lady Maria beat me and I had to summon for that. Wish I hadn't sometimes. But I did Orphan of Kos solo which to this day remain...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
My True Television Love (...since Mad Men, Deadwood and The Sopranos finished, anyway), Succession, finally returned from a two year break and already Sunday is the season finale. I hope we don't have to wait two years after an absolute whammy of a cliffhanger like last time. (The delay was Covid-re...

Re: Videogame News
I thought there were a surprising amount of games showcased that I'm interested in. Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring, Hellblade II*, and Forspoken are all games I was already looking forward to, and the new footage looked fantastic. Forspoken actually looks quite Horizon-y (in terms of gameplay an...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
After polishing off Bloodborne I started to play Dark Souls III (first ever Souls game, but starting with III because combat closer to BB than previous DS games). Made my character all pretty, read some guides for beginners, got ready to call things Bonfires or Estus rather than Blood MacGuffins. Fo...

Re: Games Completed 2021
Thank you for your kind words Yes, I found if you have problems with ruminating or anxiety that gaming can function a lot like reading. It requires absolute concentration and distraction. Even if you're grinding you can put on a podcast or audio book or tv show in the background.
