I hope you're able to, it ended up being a real highlight that I didn't expect, right up there with the RE4 remake for my favorite game so far this year.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Been playing some Dredge and it's a pretty cool game. It's nice and chilled out to play but has a dark undertone that makes it interesting. The fishing mechanics are also pretty fun too. I guess you could argue it is 'fetch quest: the game' but so far that hasn't really bothered me as the stories b...

Re: Games Completed 2023
Finished Dredge and it was fantastic, little horror fishing game. It's got a fantastic presentation with some interesting systems that don't overstay their welcome. Having a "mundane" job that gets complicated by existential horror is arguably more authentic to Lovecraft and just really he...

Re: 580: Deathloop
The only negative I have is that once I learned about Colt and Juliana’s relationship (no spoilers here) it made some of the exchanges they had together a little unsettling to say the least. The one which makes my skin crawl is “F—- you Colt!” To which Colt replies “your place or mine.” Completely ...

Re: 580: Deathloop
I gotta mention one of the weirdest takes I've seen about Deathloop, that it's generic. I just don't understand how anyone who understands the meaning of that word could apply it to Deathloop. There's very few games with anything close to its aesthetic and its structure is certainly unique. I comple...

Re: 581: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed / The Force Unleashed II
I Didn't play games growing up, but Force Unleashed was one I heard a lot about. In a lot of ways it's similar to Jedi Fallen order, taking a lot of inspiration from other popular games and genres of the time without having too much of its own unique identity. The gameplay is fun if a little janky, ...

Re: 560: Yakuza 5
On a more serious note, as a guy who's struggled with depression and everything that comes with that, Shinada and Baba's storylines gave me a bigger emotional impact than I've had from any other game. Baba's suicide attempt just hit me really hard as well as the resolution scene right after, I just ...

Re: 560: Yakuza 5
I meant to play the previous Yakuza games for the podcast, but was getting a little burnt out on Yakuza, do I skipped those just having played 0-2 and 7, and honestly from the podcast, they didn't seem like instant must plays. Yakuza 5 did a lot more to keep my interest, mostly just because of how ...

Re: Our next podcast recording (11.2.23) - 556: Animal Crossing: New Horizons
I've always been a little put off by this game for a weird reason that I haven't seen expressed by anyone else. Every human villager I've seen just looks weirdly creepy. I like the look of the animal villagers, but the human villagers just look unsettling.

Re: 557: Moss and Moss: Book II
What a fantastic game, I think the first thing that that stands out is the presentation, that storybook setup just works for this charming little adventure and quill is just such a cute protagonist. I haven't played a ton of VR games like this so the puzzle elements felt pretty novel and I liked the...

Re: 555: Condemned 2: Bloodshot
I would've played this of it was available on modern consoles since I loked it's predecessor, but doesn't seem like it'd be worth buying a 360 or PS3 for.

Re: 600: Demon's Souls (2020)
Demon's Souls was half the reason I bought a PS5 and it didn't disappoint. Blue Point really knows how to make a pretty remaster and Demons Souls is certainly no exception, it's still of the best looking games on the system. They did such a great job utilizing lighting in a way that really emphasize...

Re: 563: Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
This game is extremely confident in how stupid it is and I love it for that. It's certainly not perfect, often the character models and environments can look like they came from a 360 game, but honestly that almost works for the dumb goofy vibe this game is going for. Jack saying "I don't give ...

Re: 568: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Star Wars Fallen Order feels like an ok game that could have a good sequel. Basically everything about it is average, from the Sekiro lite combat, to the story, to the visuals. Unfortunately the movement and platforming can be pretty janky, it seems to be almost whole inspired by the tomb raider reb...

Re: 580: Deathloop
The best thing about Deathloop is its presentation, Arkane always knocks it out of the park with their visual choices and this is no exception. The choice to for a psychedelic blaxploitation aesthetic really makes it stand out. When you add some really cool music and standout voice acting there's li...

Re: 593: Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite is a weird game, in some ways it feels like a return to form, in others it feels half baked. For personal history I played all the Bungie Halo games well after they were released and loved them. I skipped 4 and 5 since I wasn't really enjoying what I played of them. So when Halo Infini...

Re: 553: Dead Space 3
Dead Space is an interesting game, and on it's merits it's pretty solid. However it's the 3rd in a fantastic series of genre defining horror games, and in comparison to those it's a let down. It sacrifices a lot of the pretty solid horror by going full co op, and letting you get creative with the we...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Been playing Vampire Survivors and holy shit it's so addictive, when I heard about the gane, I didn't really understand the appeal, but after starting it, I can barely put it down. It's a really addictive gane that wears it's castlevania inspiration on its sleeve in a really cool way.

September 27th - God of War 3 Remastered And the in-combat QTEs are short, and don't have much negative impact if you fail, keeping the pace of fights going and feeling like a natural part of it. Agree about the in combat QTEs, but some of the environmental ones are just excessive. I stopped playin...
