Re: Spare download codes (Steam/Origin/GOG/XBLA/PSN/whatevs)

I bought the Humble Australian Fire Bundle this week, and there are a bunch of games that I already have or am not going to have time to play. It looks like I can gift the spare Steam keys via the Humble website, so if anyone wants a key for any of these, please let me know (first come, first served...

Gambling in gaming

Further to the long-running discussion over the prevalence of loot boxes in video games and whether they constitute or encourage gambling and gambling-like behaviour, the director of mental health services in the UK's NHS has weighed in. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-01-18-nhs-mental-healt...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

Presuming the usual Autumn rush for third parties, the end of the year is now piling up with big games though.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

March still looks busy for me with Ori, DOOM and Half-Life (kinda expecting a delay on that, TBH), but yeah April and May are now gloriously empty. Just as well I have plenty of Cane And Rinse games to get on with!

Re: Videogame Deals

Horace (2019) is this week's Epic Store freebie. Available until 23/01/2020, for anyone looking to grab this retro-styled platformer, which looks quite lovely, I think.

Re: Videogame Deals

Also on Epic: the Encore Sale is extending some ( but not all ) of the sale prices from the Holiday Sale until 7th January. Stick with me on this! During the Holiday Sale, you got £10 off every purchase over ~£14 ($15 converted), using the Holiday Coupon. Every time you used a coupon, you were given...

Re: Videogame Deals

Oh, and early warning that the Epic Game Store will have a different freebie every day from 19th December until the end of the year (12 games in all, IIRC). No word yet on what games will be included, but if you have access to the Epic client it might be worth taking regular peaks to check out what'...

Re: Videogame Deals

The Escapists is a timely Epic Game Store freebie this week (12th-19th December), after the announcement of The Survivalists during the Nintendo Indie Direct earlier this week.

Also, both Epic and Steam are having The Games Awards-related sales today and tomorrow (12th-13th December).

Re: Death Stranding

I'm now 46 hours in and have recently made it into Chapter 6. I'm happily doing a bit of building and delivering as I go, but I can't see myself dedicating the time it'd take to get everything to 5 stars, collect all the Memory Chips, etc. It's exactly the sort of game I would do that for, but I sti...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Wattam is 17th December, according to Wikipedia... and the game's official website. It was listed for a December release for a good long time though, so I'll let your sources off, dezm0nd! I have high hopes for a new game from Keita Takahashi (Katamari Damacy, Noby Noby Boy), and funomena seem like ...

Re: Death Stranding

I'm in the midst of Chapter 3. Not sure how long I've been playing, but I've definitely been taking my time, and doing a bunch of Standard Orders. I have multiple stations at 5 stars now; don't know if I'll try to get all of them there, but I'm enjoying ferrying packages as much as seeing the story ...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Yikes to this week's Steam releases. Thanks for that, clippa!

Speaking of the Epic Game Store, Rayman Lemons is their freebie this week (until 6th December).

Re: What's Out This Week?

I guess because it's Thanksgiving week in the US? I imagine that makes it tough to get much attention on your game (news, reviews, etc). Plus Black Friday sales mean that you're up against a bunch of deals on games that people missed earlier in the year.

Re: What's Out This Week?

I clung on to my Stadia pre-order until Thursday. With the (disappointing IMO) launch line-up, and ever-increasing list of features not ready for launch, it only took Microsoft talking about Project xCloud to tip me over the edge. As much as I'm intrigued to see what Stadia is capable of, I'm happy ...

Dreams (Media Molecule)

I don't think there's any existing topic about Media Molecule's game creation game, Dreams, currently in early access. Apologies if there is; I did search for relevant topics, honest! I'm utterly useless and unskilled when it comes to creative endeavours. Music, painting, sculpting, drawing... you n...

Re: Videogame Deals

I've been grabbing these after discovering my laptop can actually play some games! Don't think it'll manage Abzu, but The End Is Nigh should be cool. Do they change the free games monthly? They're changed weekly at the moment, and I think will be until the end of the year, IIRC. If you go to the St...

Re: Videogame Deals

Good call, Flabyo! Leon has also just reminded me that today is Epic Game Store free game changeover day. ABZU and The End Is Nigh are now available for the next seven days. Go, go, go! ABZU is a personal fave. I think it does swimming in a way that captures the freedom of feeling comfortable in wat...

Re: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

We've only watched the first episode so far, but I have to agree. I really felt they did justice to the original's look, feel and world, but added so much in character-building, world-building, and adding a sense of dynamic movement to the puppets. I know it won't be popular for me to say, but the f...
