Re: What's Out This Week?

I clung on to my Stadia pre-order until Thursday. With the (disappointing IMO) launch line-up, and ever-increasing list of features not ready for launch, it only took Microsoft talking about Project xCloud to tip me over the edge. As much as I'm intrigued to see what Stadia is capable of, I'm happy ...

Dreams (Media Molecule)

I don't think there's any existing topic about Media Molecule's game creation game, Dreams, currently in early access. Apologies if there is; I did search for relevant topics, honest! I'm utterly useless and unskilled when it comes to creative endeavours. Music, painting, sculpting, drawing... you n...

Re: Videogame Deals

I've been grabbing these after discovering my laptop can actually play some games! Don't think it'll manage Abzu, but The End Is Nigh should be cool. Do they change the free games monthly? They're changed weekly at the moment, and I think will be until the end of the year, IIRC. If you go to the St...

Re: Videogame Deals

Good call, Flabyo! Leon has also just reminded me that today is Epic Game Store free game changeover day. ABZU and The End Is Nigh are now available for the next seven days. Go, go, go! ABZU is a personal fave. I think it does swimming in a way that captures the freedom of feeling comfortable in wat...

Re: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

We've only watched the first episode so far, but I have to agree. I really felt they did justice to the original's look, feel and world, but added so much in character-building, world-building, and adding a sense of dynamic movement to the puppets. I know it won't be popular for me to say, but the f...

Re: Videogame Deals

Just spotted that Yoku's Island Express is a Twitch Prime reward from now until the end of the month!

For anyone with Amazon Prime and a linked Twitch account, it should be available to grab from the crown icon drop-down in the top right corner of the Twitch.tv homepage.

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

The Wire remains my favourite TV series. The only word of caution I might offer is that the dialogue comes thick and fast, so subtitles could be useful for an episode or two until you get used to the Baltimore accent. My partner and I rewatched The Dark Crystal over the weekend and started watching ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Be aware that that Hori Joycon has no wireless capability. It only works connected to the Switch. A regular plus-shaped d-pad is still appealing, I think, but worth noting. Also, weird that Hori didn't produce a matching right Joycon. Given you'll only be using them in handheld mode, I can imagine s...

Re: Videogame Deals

Hyper Light Drifter and Mutant Year Zero are next week's free games on the Epic Games Store  I didn't really get on with the former but the latter is excellent too and just about doesn't outstay its welcome at around 15 hours. Both games are now available on the Epic store. Free for the next...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Well I've just downloaded it too after all this chat! I've only played a little Picross before, years ago, and can't remember a jot about how to play it! Pixel Puzzle Collection has a pretty decent tutorial and then ramps up the difficulty in a steady fashion. Needless to say, feel free to ask for ...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

You can always solve it without guessing! Can’t wait to find out if that’s true too! It should be, but I could've sworn I'd run out of known cells to fill/clear. Turns out my fuzzy, late-night brain missed one (admittedly easy-to-miss) box that I could clear. Needless to say, having solved it with ...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Konami quietly released a Picross game called Pixel Puzzle Collection on iOS, spanning their 50 years of gaming. Several of the team, including myself, have been playing Pixel Puzzle Collection. I've been putting quite a bit of time into it over the past month or two; you're right about the value -...

A lovely blast from the past, and the last year of SFIV on the EVO main card. Thanks for prompting me to rewatch that, Stanshall! :-D
