Re: Volume Nine - a couple of video teasers

Hey all - do we know when the Red Dead episode is going out? Just wasn't sure what date it was starting back up again. Please don't mistake this for impatience, I'm just really excited to listen to it and didn't want to keep refreshing my feed if its not this week! :)

I might have a go at this! Are the tournaments asynchronous?
Yes. You can set how long they run for, as well as various rules etc. Have a look on Switch, I may well set up a tournament on one of the free tables later. If I do, I'll post it on here.

Re: Retro gaming

That was the game that convinced me I needed a PSP. We got one for the kids at work and after taking it home for the weekend with Ridge Racer I had to get my own as soon as possible.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Having just got PS Now I spent the evening playing Dirt 4 and Red Dead Redemption. Dirt 4 is a lot of fun. I already have Dirt Rally, which is a brilliant rally sim, but Dirt 4 seems a little more arcadey, and I'll definitely be dipping in and out of it over the next few weeks. Red Dead Redemption i...

Re: Retro gaming

If you've got access to a PSP the Ridge Racer on that was brilliant fun. Much better reviewed than the shoddy Vita version, too.

Yeah most of them are downloadable, as well as all the PS2 games.

EDIT: Just subscribed for a year. Looking forward to trying it out!

Re: Videogame Deals

My PS+ lapses in Feb, and I'm genuinely torn between whether to extend it for a year or try a year of PS Now. I can't really afford both, nor do I need them, since you can play any PS Now game online without being a Plus subscriber. EXCEPT... I'm currently playing MGS V. There's no way I'll finish i...

Re: Gambling in gaming

It certainly is interesting, and from a child development point of view there has been decades and decades of research in to how early childhood experiences directly relate to the mental health of adults. I mean it's almost so obvious is goes without saying, but hooking children in from a young age ...

Re: Need for Speed: Heat and the Conversation Around Racing Games

My eldest really loves the Trials games, so tonight I introduced him to Trackmania Turbo, thinking it hits some of the same notes. He really enjoyed it, but for some reason another game popped in to my head and made me wish they'd bring the series back - Motorstorm. They were great arcade racers, pa...

Re: Successful Spiritual Successors

The Metro series is a spiritual successor to the STALKER games that, IMHO, surpass the source material. Really? The Stalker games were big open world almost RPGs, other than a similar theme I wouldn't say they're that similar really. I'd suggest Fallout and Stalker are more closely related in my ex...

Re: Shmups

I don't play games on PC though Ah right, sorry. What were you playing mame on? You got an old hacked console you use? I've got MAME on my Vita and Wii, but yeah for the tournaments we had for a little while I was using laptop but I wouldn't really sit and play on it for any length of time, it's ju...

Re: All things Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku)

This was published ages ago, but says the 3, 4 and 5 remasters should be available seperately from Feb. This is good for anyone who didn't want / couldn't shell out for the triple pack.

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording (19.1.20) - 402: God of War (2018)

Prior to the release of this game my excitement was up and down like a yoyo. The first E3 reveal had me literally punching the air in excitement as it was revealed we'd been looking at Kratos. Then I lost all interest and just wasn't bothered about it in the least. Even when the game came out I didn...

Re: Shmups

What's the general consensus on Black Paradox? I liked the look of it when it came out, and it's currently dirt cheap (about £3) on Switch.
