Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I crumbled and bought this just before I went on holiday last week. It got its hooks into me so deep I ended up taking my Wii U with me to Center Parcs! Last time I took a console on holiday was when I took my SNES to play Super Mario World in 1992! I'm now 50 hours in and just wow. What a game.

Re: Virginia

Sadly, it really fell apart in the final act. If they'd just stuck with a conventional story at that point, I feel there was enough substance to the game and story to carry it off. Agree. Finished it last night and genuinely have no idea what happened. Here are the only things I think happened: 1. ...

That's what I suspected as it's quite pronounced for what looks like not particularly labour intensive stuff for the 3DS to handle. I had to ask though just to be sure. Cheers, Leon.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I ordered the WU version last night. I'm interested to hear what you think of the Wii U version. I'm not going to be getting a Switch until at least my Birthday in November as with another baby on the way, a new console will not go down well with my wife! I'm desperate to play this one - although I...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've started replaying Ogre Battle 64 on the Wii U Virtual Console. A definite desert island game for me. I would LOVE for them to do to it what they did with the PSP remake of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Also, I've gone back to P4 Golden, which really is superb. I only stopped playing beca...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm playing Yakuza 4 at the moment. It took a while to win me over but it has ended up being one of my favourite instalments in the series. Wonderful! That game really manages to reinvigorate the franchise while still staying true to its core spirit. I finished it tonight. Great game. Probably my f...

I really like that game. I prefer it SMB as it goes.
I definitely prefer the feel of Mario in SMB2. It's more akin to the later 2D Marios.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

So I jumped into the Witness and I really like it. Very chilled and laid back. It has just the right mix of making you feel like an idiot and a genius. I've started getting to puzzles now where you have to look to the surrounding world. Neat. I'm a little worried I'm going to get stuck not because ...

Welcome back Si! But are you going to do The Lost Levels? Cheers, Ratso! I'm definitely going to give Lost Levels a go. My Mario history really starts with SMW. I played a bit of SMB3 when All Stars was released but never finished it. Since then my only dabbling with 8-bit Mario has been ...

Re: Games completed 2017

Hello. It's been a while since I've posted on here! So far this year... The Last Guardian (PS4) Loved it. Yes, it has a few mechanical issues but thematically and emotionally it's consistent with the previous Project ICO games. My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (3DS) Forgot...

Re: Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony – Cane and Rinse 224

As I said earlier in the thread, Owen's comments are definitely food for thought. Additionally, It would most certainly be ignorant of me to poo-poo the other comments supporting Owen's point-of-view. Ultimately though, I do stand by my own comments regarding the context of the imagery. However, I a...

Re: Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony – Cane and Rinse 224

The one thing I'd like to make clear is there was some sense from at least one of you (can't remember whom) who felt I was saying that the troubling stuff was an agenda from Final Form Games. Hi Owen. I think you might be referring to my response to your comments. The point I was making in a somewh...

Re: Ys

I'm a big fan. It's quite a confusing series in that many of the early titles have been remade and given different titles. Ys Origin is a good place to start as it's a prequel to the previous seven games in the series, and is easily available on Steam. Also, if you have access to a PSP, the Ys games...

Re: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt

I'm absolutely in love with this game at the moment. Dark Souls kind of spoiled fantasy RPGs for me, with every one I played afterwards feeling a little flat. But here's the Witcher 3 with with it's world that feels vibrant and alive. On top of that it's full of interesting characters and quests tha...
