Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've been periodically popping back in to Kingdoms of Amalur , but I have to admit my enthusiasm for it has kind of fizzled out. Today was actually the first time I played it since playing through all of The Witcher 2. I think my fears about how it may have aged turned out to be true, outside of the...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

I'm not saying that you can't like Game Pass if you're really in to games. But just when I think of what market they're trying to get to that they don't already have served, that's what it seems like they're going for to me. It still seems kind of odd for someone who isn't already really invested in...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

Game Pass doesn't really appeal to me either, although there are a decent amount of pretty good games on it. But it feels like it's not meant for me. With all the games on it, there are practically none that interest me that I don't already have, or that I wouldn't mind just buying individually. I'd...

Re: Splatoon 2

I stopped playing regularly a while ago, but jumping in for a community get-together sounds fun. Although doing so might cause a problem. When I've done similar things before it kind of messes up the difficulty for everyone because I'm usually a way higher rank than everyone else... The game tries t...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Going though a couple of older games again, but this time on PC rather than on consoles as I did previously. Remember Me is actually holding up better than I expected it would. From having played this before my impressions were that it was very interesting and compelling, but didn't quite hit the ma...

Re: Videogame News

It looks like things haven't been going very well for the ESA of late. Sounds like the organisation is in a bit of a mess, thanks to the ex-president not being very good at his job. This piece is a little bit outdated, as I found it through a news story about a new president taking the position, but...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

That's not really fair. It's only a subset of the fanbase that still acts like that. Most are just fine enjoying the main games and not dwelling on the reboot. Like all of the DMC fans on this forum for example. And for me personally, even though I prefer the Capcom games, I like DmC too. It's unfai...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Just finished off the Nyakuza Metro DLC they just released for A Hat in Time . It's really great! The new level is very impressive. It's pretty huge, and full of so many little unique details and touches that bring it to life. I love the look of it, with all the neon colours everywhere and hustle an...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Splatoon 2 (campaign) Honestly think this is the hardest game I’ve finished since beating Mom’s heart on Binding of Isaac. Some amazing ideas, infuriating difficulty spikes but overall very enjoyable. Now I can play multiplayer without this monkey on my back finally! It sounds somewhat odd to me to...

Re: 374: Furi

(Not sure if you will want to use this for the pod, but I thought I'd pitch in anyway. Usually I like to contribute to stuff that I really care about, but in this case this is a game I'm not that invested in, so I don't have a huge amount to say on it. It was also a very long time since I last playe...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

I think I have to agree that this month's PS+ offering is a bit weak, even if the games are critically praised. There only being two of them, and the lack of a larger scale game does make it seem less appealing, I have to admit. At least it's better than the GwG offering, even with half the games. B...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Another chance to share this interview I did with Iain Angus in 2014: https://caneandrinse.com/iain-angus-burnout-paradise-interview/ He didn’t predict Paradise Remastered though... Ah yes I remember that interview. Good stuff. Reading through it again it's interesting he mentions a big barrier to ...

Re: Games Completed 2019

You know what I'm kinda worried about? That it might retroactively hurt Burnout's legacy. That a lot of people who haven't played any real Burnout game in 10+ years dipped into this one then quickly concluded that the old games probably weren't as good as they remembered them, which might make it e...

Re: Games Completed 2019

30/04 - Dangerous Driving Sadly, a complete and total mess of a game. [...] Disheartening, isn't it? I guess the arcade racing sub-genre is more or less dead now... :( It's been dead for a long time already. This game was the closest thing to a gasp of life it has had in years. For that, I can't re...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Today I picked up Lost Planet: Colonies Edition since Capcom has a sale going on right now on Steam. I played the original version before way back in the early days of the 360, and a while back I tried to pick this up on PC before as well, but the key didn't work, probably thanks to it being a GFWL ...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

On the topic of ray tracing and whether the PS5 will be capable of it, this recent video Digital Foundry did about Minecraft made me wonder if something like this mod might be more along the lines of what they might be able to achieve. I hear that this isn't actually "real" ray tracing and is instea...
