Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Picked up Horizon Chase Turbo the other day on the Switch. It's got a lot of cool things about it I like, but a couple of things that I'm not so keen on, so I'm not sure I'm sold on the whole thing yet. It's an homage to those old 2D sprite-scaling racing games, despite using polygon graphics. They ...

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording (19.1.20) - 402: God of War (2018)

I was very sceptical of this game to begin with, being a moderate fan of the previous games. Although it was clear that the series needed a massive shaking up to continue existing, the direction they chose at first didn’t inspire much confidence in me. But then when it came out and I finally played ...

03/01 - Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) 08/01 - Need for Speed: Carbon 12/01 - Devil May Cry (Normal) 15/01 - Devil May Cry 2 (Normal/Dante) Guess what, it's bad. Extremely bad. Shocking take, I know. I knew that going in, and was considering skipping this one, but I figured I might as well give...

03/01 - Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) 08/01 - Need for Speed: Carbon 12/01 - Devil May Cry (Normal) With the news of a Switch port for DMC3 on the way that adds in a bunch of new features, I thought now would be a good time to finally have another stab at getting these old PS2 entries off my p...

Re: Games Completed 2020

03/01 - Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) 08/01 - Need for Speed: Carbon Couldn't help myself but jump on to this one as well. Unfortunately this one was a little disappointing, although still okay. I guess I should have known, since it's pretty similar to my original experience with the game, but...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'd agree the controls aren't great. They're functional, and you get used to their slight clunkiness, but I wouldn't say they were especially bad. Rather something that's not hard to overlook in the big picture. I believe you can turn off the labels for everything in the UI though. Also I wonder if ...

Re: Games Completed 2020

03/01 - Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) This was another fun trip down memory lane with an old racing favourite like I did with Underground 2 a few months ago. This one similarly holds up pretty well, although not quite as well in some aspects. While it’s still a lot of fun and very solid in most...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

More NFS: Most Wanted . I've actually been enjoying it more as I've been getting further. Partly because as you upgrade your car and unlock higher wanted levels the game gets more intense and challenging. And also because I've done a bit of trouble shooting to fix/improve a couple of technical hitch...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Been playing Need for Speed: Most Wanted (original flavour) recently. Still on this kick of replaying old racing games. Got bored of TDU and SRS, so it's back to where I left off with the NFS games. So far I'm having fun, but I don't think time has been as kind to this game as Underground 2. While M...

Re: 2020 Hype Thread

Doom is one of the main games I'm looking forward to, but I can't help but feel a bit weary about it too. Bethesda have been doing a great job of throwing away every piece of goodwill it had over the past few years. Doom feels like it's in danger. As long as the campaign manages to get out unscathed...

I'm also presently jumping back and forth between: - No More Heroes 2 (how have I not played this absolutely bonkers masterpiece til now?) Glad to see new people enjoying that one. Did you play the first before? I played a bit of the first one, but that open world and side job stuff completely lost...

Re: Final Fantasy XV

Just listened to the episode on Patreon, got a couple of thoughts. This game is a weird one. I've always rather liked it, and it's the only FF I've ever finished, yet I can't help but agree with all the criticisms people have of it. Or at least understand where people are coming from with it. The an...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Just played through Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn . I put the other DLCs as part of the Games Completed thread since I did them all in one go, but this didn't feel like enough to justify going there on its own. This was alright though. Fleshed out Ardyn's back story a bit, giving his actions a bit...

Re: Videogame News

I don't think the new Xbox is as big as people seem to be thinking. Looking at the controller next to it, it doesn't actually look like it has much width to it. Also apparently you can put it on its side, so it doesn't have to be vertical. Horizontally, it looks like it should fit in to a much more ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

A few more thoughts on Darksiders: Genesis . Still enjoying it, but a couple of issues have started to become apparent. Some of the problems from earlier have lessened though. The issues with platforming seem to have become less frequent. While those sections still pop up, and they are still awkward...

Re: Videogame News

Kind of surprised there hasn't been more talk of the Game Awards announcements here. Or at least this one... Hellblade 2! qJWI4bkD9ZM Mixed feelings on this though. I loved Hellblade and I admit the idea of more of it is appealing, but at the same time it didn't feel like it was a game that needed t...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Started Darksiders: Genesis recently and so far I'm liking it a fair bit. Despite the very different perspective and level structure, it still feels very Darksiders. In a way it's kind of like the first game, but chopped up in to individual levels. So far most of them have been fairly linear, but a ...
