Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Firstly I finished and very very much enjoyed Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow . I also believe that this is another fantastic experience made better by the form and function of the console it was designed for – The DS. I've often thought Konami have been really dropping the ball on re-releasing old Cas...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

It’s not well remembered now but Lego had a whole series of racing games through the late 90s and early 00s before Lego games turned into the Travellers Tales formula and nothing else. (I know this cause I worked on one of them) There have been Lego sets themed around racing for a while now as well...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Just finished off the Forza Horizon 4: Lego Speed Champions Expansion , or at least the main race event progression. Still got a bunch of the block challenges to do, which I think I'll give a shot, but I'm not sure I'll completely finish. I've been trying to keep up 100% achievement completion on th...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

For some reason I've been playing Infinite Undiscovery which was in the recent final batch of XB1 backward compatible games. This is from a very different period in the time I've been playing games. In fact, judging by achievements, it was almost exactly 10 years since I last played it. Only a few w...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Just been playing a bit of Bioshock Classic and it's already such a better experience than the remaster. Even though it lacks some minor visual detail, overall I think it actually looks better. There's a better sense of aesthetic cohesion to it. The way the levels are lit feels a lot more natural, a...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

Jedi looked cool. Fun, solid looking combat that I think might have more going on than meets the eye. Like it looks like there's some directional attack/parrying thing going on, and there was a little bit of mixing force powers together that looked fun. Otherwise a pretty straightforward Uncharted-l...

Re: Videogame News

I think this is supposed to be "Strife's game", even though he isn't the only one playable. Maybe they thought that him using guns meant his gameplay style would be too different to the others to really work as a mainline game. But yeah, I would expect after this for the 4th main game, they would fi...

Re: Videogame News

THQ announced Darksiders: Genesis! This one is a spin-off prequel of sorts, and it looks like a Diablo-esque isometric dungeon crawler. Also has co-op, and you can play as either War or Strife, who is getting their first playable appearance here. Strife uses guns, so playing as them will be a little...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Picked up Bioshock Remastered a few days ago, and the PC version is terrible. When this version was first released it didn't seem particularly impressive to me. The graphics looked more different than better, and only insignificantly so. Then after a while I heard stories about how awful the audio i...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've heard HLD has some minor issues on Switch, but nothing that ruins the experience. The studio behind the port has been patching the game to improve it too. That version also has some exclusive content as well. And there's a physical version due out soonish as well. I played it on PC, and I highl...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've cleared off everything I had on my plate lately, so I'm in one of those odd patches where I don't know what to play, so I've been falling back on Forza yet again. This time with Forza Horizon 1 . I've barely touched it since they stopped giving out in-game credits for this game, but these past ...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

Another rumour is going around that THQ is going to show something called Darksiders: Genesis, so I'm pretty interested in that. I guess it sounds like a prequel spin-off, that will likely be made by a different team than the main studio working on the franchise. Darksiders 3 was pretty recent, and ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Didn't know the 3DS has problems with backward compatibility. Interesting. That's a shame though. Usually Nintendo are really good at that, at least when they do it through hardware rather than emulation.

**On a side note, I’m finding it staggering how much better (al round) playing a DS game on my DSi-XL is, than on my N3DS-XL.
Interesting. Why's that?

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

More rumours to suggest that a Fable 4 is on the way. This one seems pretty solid, since it comes from Microsoft's own streaming platform, Mixer. Apparently the game showed up in auto-fill search results, presumably because they already have the game in their database. https://screenrant.com/fable-4...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I'm pretty confident Animal Crossing will show up at E3. It was announced a while ago, and it's been a while since Nintendo has had a big tent-pole release, so the timing seems right for it. Also with Splatoon 2 having finally wound down its content updates (same development team) it also seems logi...

Re: The more I go back to last gen, the worse it seems (PS3 and 360)

I was actually thinking about mentioning freesync/gsync. That is a pretty interesting technology that could help fix the problems with tearing, refresh rates, etc. But I was under the impression that it was still not a widespread thing, and quite expensive. Also exclusive to PC monitors and not real...

Re: The more I go back to last gen, the worse it seems (PS3 and 360)

You're not really supposed to view something at a different refresh rate than your device puts out. Gonna disagree with you on that, unless you're talking about having vsync on. I play shmups that are locked to 60fps at 144hz all the time, I force off vsync to lower the input lag and then crank up ...

Re: The more I go back to last gen, the worse it seems (PS3 and 360)

I don't have a problem going back to games from the last generation, but it does depend on what game it is. I guess I can see how some games would be a bit of an unpleasant surprise to discover how badly they ran in retrospect, but that's only true in certain cases. The games I tend to go back to ar...

Re: Videogame News

We've got some gameplay of Grid, and honestly it doesn't look great. The handling looks pretty flat missing the feeling of the original, and the damage modelling looks pretty bad too. Two huge crashes in that first race that did barely anything. The bigger crash seemed to do the least as well. Accor...
