Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Bizarrely, as soon as I installed the new Ori, the old one, which I’m about halfway through, has started crashing while it’s loading. It does it after a few attempts but never seen it crash before. The new one loads okay so maybe just coincidence. Played a few hours of Anodyne, a Switch wish-list it...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Same situation here! Just got the 50% mapped achievement on Ori and the Blind Forest on Xbox but I’m blowing a bit hot and cold with this at the moment. Some of the game mechanics seem over-complicated then used to excess - for a game that also oozes atmosphere, having a great big arrow that you hav...

Re: SEGA AGES Virtua Racing

Winning on the last track was a bit of an anticlimax. I thought I was in second as usual and only noticed on the last corner I wasn’t, so there was no thrill of overtaking the leader for the first time or trying to hang on for the win, which nearly gave me a heart attack when I won the second track ...

Re: SEGA AGES Virtua Racing

I can finally access the Community Gaming forum, so here’s what I’ve got, default settings: Big Forest - 3:14.59 Bay Bridge - 3:16.09 Acropolis - 4:16.93 Most of my time was spent trying to come first on Bay Bridge, hence the decent time there, though I don’t think that was my first place run. I kno...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Thought the PS4 Final Fantasy 7 remake demo was stunning. Played through it twice just to make sure I hadn’t missed anything and am tempted by a third time! That said, I’m not sure I want to sink dozens of hours back into an epic story I went through less than two years ago when I played the origina...

Re: Your first four PS2 games

Wow, this is a challenge. The first was SSX, and I didn’t get much on top of that for a while because cash was tight having just bought my first flat at almost the same time. After that, it would have probably been Ridge Racer 5 or International Superstar Soccer, then Dynasty Warriors 2 maybe. Think...

Re: All things Mega Man

Just realised I meant Maverick Hunter X and not Powered Up, which is the remake of the original Mega Man. And highlights how little value emulating something can place on it!

Yeeees! I did it! Fifth or sixth time this evening, and with two full tanks left! Finally worked out a good strategy for him and took him down. Phew. Congratulations! Be sure to go back and do it again in a year or so. You’ll get a real kick out of returning to this one especially. I’ve started pla...

All the very best for a swift and full recovery, Steve!
Thanks Leon. Appreciate it, and the podcast has genuinely helped me through it, especially the first few sleepless nights after I came out of hospital. I probably hold the record for getting through all those end of year epics!

Re: Games Completed 2020

Two more kidney surgeries meant my handhelds got plenty of love Hope whatever's going on with your kidneys isn't serious mate and that you're doing well! My son only has one kidney and have spent a lot of time in renal appointments. I understand all too well that kidneys can be finicky bastards, an...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I really wanted to like Ori & The Blind Forest but I just didn't take to it. Played it for about an hour and really couldn't get in to it at all. Maybe I ought to try it again if you're putting it up there with Hollow Knight. Does it get better when you get more abilities? It annoyed me moving the ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon having a practice game of Ghostbusters on the Spectrum +2, then doing a full run through on the C64 Mini. My wife thought I was mental, but I love it and I ain’t afraid of no ghost with my eyes shut! The original Dooms are a similar case, so I had a quick try on 1 ...

Re: Games Completed 2020

Always glad to get value out of PS+, and did this month with Bulletstorm and Bioshock. Same for Game Pass and Bloodstained (though my excessive use of Demon’s Tilt makes that a given). Two more kidney surgeries meant my handhelds got plenty of love, with Castlevania: Circle of the Moon being a parti...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

So, the 2nd game only came out in Japan and North America and had a slightly different set up. This time round you are expected to work your way to Formula 1 by competing the the lower GT series races with non-formula cars. I’ve got my eye on a Japanese import (Exhaust Heat 2) copy. F1-ROC2 uses th...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I think I got the world record for the second one earlier today. It's difficult to say for sure due to the all the different platforms but I'm at the top of the PS4 leaderboards and the closest time I can find online (by the legendary MoluJPN) is more than 12 seconds slower. Really proud of my stra...

Picked up Doom 1 & 2 for £1.20 each and Doom 3 for £2.40 on the Switch eShop. The 2016 motion-sickness nightmare Doom is half price at £24.99 too.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finished Castlevania: Circle of the Moon on Game Boy Advance, which only took me almost 20 years! Did you play this on original hardware? It was the first game I bought with my GBA back on release and I loved it, but I was always huddled under a lamp because of the lighting. I didn't mind how dark ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finished Castlevania: Circle of the Moon on Game Boy Advance, which only took me almost 20 years! Really enjoyable for the entire game, a really solid Castlevania, and just a remarkable achievement that it exists on that machine. Only gripe is the map never quite clicked - by the end I was still reg...

Re: Warface

I didn’t get past the tutorial unfortunately. I was playing on TV, and couldn’t put how it looks on there better, but the main problem was my red-black colourblindness and not being able to find the targets it was telling me to shoot! In the unlikely event I ever get the urge for a multiplayer FPS, ...

Re: On The Back Burner

Maybe pick up Mecha Ritz when the port is ready. That's really good and has a very nice rank system where the game will autotune the difficulty to suit your skill level. Currently half price on steam - https://store.steampowered.com/app/463070/Mecha_Ritz_Steel_Rondo/ Thanks for that! Mecha Ritz loo...
