Re: The Bittersweet Reality of Your Gaming Preferences

There needs to be more Action RPGs either in the form of Diablo or Borderlands. I only briefly played them, but Torchlight 1 & 2 were pretty good Diablo-likes, if you have a PC for them. There weren't too many stats to deal with, though it could get more complex later on. Similarly, Dungeon Defende...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

I'd like to toss Big Brain Academy for the DS onto the list, if it isn't already there. A fantastic little edutainment game that'd I love to hear analyzed some day. I know there is a Wii game as well, but I never played it and don't know how well it holds up or anything.

Re: Community Gamertags and other online ids

I almost never play games online, but have been getting into Geometry Wars 3 on the Vita lately. I wouldn't mind having some people to battle on those leaderboards, if anyone would like to add me:

Re: Licensed Games You're Shocked Haven't Been Made Yet

the hulk game is bad I'm not sure what Hulk game you played, but I really enjoyed Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. I was rather young, and only played it a bit at my cousin's house, but I thought it was an entertaining sandbox romp. I'm really looking forward to the PS4 Spider-Man game, and think an Iro...

Re: Licensed Games You're Shocked Haven't Been Made Yet

I'll keep mine simple: Harry Potter RPG/MMO I would enjoy an RPG in the HP universe, unrelated to the books' stories, at least directly. Personally I'm not a fan of MMOs, so that wouldn't be my cup of tea. Now would you want to play a student at Hogwarts? or be someone in the larger wizarding world...

Re: Licensed Games You're Shocked Haven't Been Made Yet

I would want a Rainbow 6 game that feels more like the book. The majority of the level would be setup to make sure the execution is perfect. Getting people in place, watching camera feeds, perhaps even negotiations and buying time. Then the actual breaching and capturing/executing of the bad guys wo...

Re: What games were you not allowed to play/do you not let your kids play?

as a middle school teacher I was amazed how many of my 12 year old students were playing GTA V right when it came out. I wish more parents would put some rules in place in terms of what kids can play. I think when/if I have kids, I'll probably have some rules for this. I played GTA and Call of Duty...

Re: Your Favorite Boss Fights!

I've got quite a few, all for different reasons: Sonic Adventure 2 LqvFZCXPHrU The final boss of SA2, much like the rest of the game, was clunky and a bit odd, but boy do I love. The music along with Super Sonic and Shadow working together make this fight one of my favorite moments in video games. B...

What games were you not allowed to play/do you not let your kids play?

DomsBeard started a thread last month here discussing people's earliest gaming memories. This got me to thinking not only about the games that I played, but also the ones that I wasn't allowed to play. I'm curious what other people's parents forbade them from playing, or if you are a parent, what yo...

Re: What's the first videogame you ever remember playing?

Mine would've been on the PC, Sega Game Gear, or PS1, as those were what we had at the time. Most of the games that we had on PC were Star Wars and Star Trek strategy games, but I had no idea how to play them, so I would've just watched and "helped" my brother or dad. There was also Chex Quest, whic...

Re: Board/Card Games - The obligatory "analogue" gaming thread

I just got 7 Wonders. I like it but to me there's a bit of a jarring disconnect between how bright and breezy the game plays and how complicated it is to figure out the scoring. The scoring can be a bit messy. We usually have one person in charge of tallying it all up, they just go around and ask e...

Re: Board/Card Games - The obligatory "analogue" gaming thread

I also want to give a shout out to tabletop roleplaying games. Some of the most fun I've had are in games of D&D and the like. They take and expand all of great storytelling aspects that games provide, without pesky things like hardware limitations to get in the way of me pulling a Star Destroyer ou...

Re: Board/Card Games - The obligatory "analogue" gaming thread

As others have said, I wish I had more time and people to play with, but on average we find time about once a month or so. Usually getting several nights in when people are home for the summer or holidays. Some of my favorites are 7 Wonders, Cranium, Citadels, and Pictionary. Of course can't leave o...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Cane and Rinse 244

Its been too long and I played too little of Twilight Princess to feel comfortable contributing, but listening to the show did make me want to share a bit. I wasn't a huge fan of the visual style, but also didn't hate it. Link's design, as Ryan said, felt bland in Smash Bros. Brawl when compared to ...

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording (22.10.16) - Amnesia: The Dark Descent

According to Steam I got the game in the Humble Indie Bundle 5, so I probably played it sometime in 2012. As with many games, I played it with a friend watching. Over the course of, I imagine, a few sessions, we beat the game. There are a few moments that I clearly remember. The one that we still ta...

There was almost no reason for me to pre-order Bloodborne, let alone the collector's edition. Yet I did, and I am quite happy now with that purchase. Though let me back up a bit... kOeE-i3b-Vs The original Shining Force soundtrack has some of my most cherished songs of all, there are literally too many to choose from. Battle 2 is the one I find to be pretty much the most iconic track of any game but this Battle 3 track is such a brilliant track it's hard to ignore. Still, if ...

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording (29.10.16) - Fallout: New Vegas

I'll say that I preferred Fallout 3 to NV, but really, they're the same game to me, 3 just came first, so I spent more time with it. The intro to NV is pretty cool, I'd argue 3's is cooler, albeit longer. Though something can be said for the brevity of NVs intro when compared to growing up in the va...
