Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

I'd like to toss in a suggestion for Super Mario Strikers on the GameCube. After having shows covering Football Manager and Kick Off, I'd really like to hear the team's thoughts on a less serious take on the sport. Perhaps this could lead to covering the entirety of (what I consider) the golden age ...

Re: Sound of Play: 60

Excellent show! Certainly makes work more enjoyable. Now, there are two music-centric podcasts that I listen to, Sound of Play and NPR's All Songs Considered. Occasionally with either show a song will come along that makes me pause the podcast because it reminds me of another song, and I just have t...

Re: Our next podcast recording (3.9.16): Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online

Hopefully this isn't too late for the podcast, but here we go. I wasn't incredibly excited for GTA V. Sure, it looked beautiful, and I enjoyed my time with the last two numbered entries in the series, but for me GTA has always been about relaxing with the sandbox parts of the game, not the story. I ...

Re: Two players. One screen. Good co-op games of today?

I just looked up how co op works, and it seems unnecessarily fiddly. Two PSN accounts needed etc. I recently finished an entire run of the game in co-op, so I thought I'd leave some thoughts on it here. The initial setup can be a bit tedious to bring in a partner. They do need their own PlayStation...

Re: Sound of Play: 55

I believe Leon mentioned this in the episode, but I'd like to say after hearing that Rayman track: More songs need kazoos! (and it made me wish I hadn't sold my copy of the game) Also, the Patapon track was excellent, does anyone know what the best way to download the soundtrack would be? I've looke...

Re: Your questions about The Talos Principle

I played a bit of Ether One as well when it was free. Didn't make it too far because I think there was a lot of reading at the start, and I wasn't in the mood for it at the time.

I do really recommend The Talos Principle if you get the chance, especially if you enjoy puzzle games.

Re: Your questions about The Talos Principle

I suppose I should include the questions I currently have: The game features ideas from Greek, Egyptian, and Christian religions and philosophy. What other sources did you draw inspiration from? Why did you choose these for source material? Was there anything you wish you could have included? The st...

Your questions about The Talos Principle

Hello there! This week I finished playing through Croteam's The Talos Principle and its expansion, Road To Gehenna. I really enjoyed the game's story and puzzles and felt compelled to reach out to the devs for a potential mini interview like I did with the devs of Jamestown earlier this year. Before...

Re: Sound of Play: 54

Really enjoyed this one! For future themed episodes, perhaps a topic could be made here in the forum where people can give more background to their requests. However y'all approach it, I hope there are more theme episodes in the future of Sound of Play. It may just be my current listening habits, bu...

Re: Sound of Play: 53

Loved this Sound of Play. I thought Leon's solo hosting was a bit more relaxed than the usual more conversational episodes, and was just what I needed to get through work tonight. Enjoyed all of the tracks, but the Halo and Final Fantasy tracks especially resonated with me. Thanks Leon and Jay for a...

Re: Our next podcast recording (30.7.16): Rock Band series

Rock Band is, without a doubt, one of the most important video games in my life. The only game that comes to mind as being arguably more important is The Binding of Isaac, but that's a topic for another time. My first experience with a rhythm game was Guitar Hero 2 on PS2 at a friend's house in 2007...

Re: Other podcast recommendations ?

I've been listening to Kinda Funny's Game Over Greggy podcast. It generally has the same four hosts, with occasional guests, and they talk about a wide range of topics, from the silly (Favorite color, stories about rabid raccoons) to serious (gun violence, racism, political correctness). Most topics...

Re: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Just completed this game tonight. I figured I'd share my thoughts on it before listening to the episode. First the things that I liked: The setting and style of the game was really good, I loved the fairy tale world, and liked that it took tropes and inspiration from various stories, but still made ...

Re: Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony – Cane and Rinse 224

NOTE: It took me a while to write this, and in the time that I was writing it, a couple more posts were written. I am too lazy and hungry at the moment to edit my post to reflect/include the most recent additions to the discussion. My post is mainly in response to Achamius's, but I think it fits wit...

Re: Our next podcast recording (26.5.16) - Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony

According to my Steam purchase history, I picked up Jamestown almost a year after its release when it was on sale for 66% off. I’m not a huge player of shmups, although I enjoy almost any that I play. I believe I learned about Jamestown after watching a review of it online, and added it to my wishli...

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day - Cane and Rinse 218

Really enjoyed this episode (not that I don't enjoy every episode)! I thought tossing in the voice clips and having the music in the background was a nice touch. One of my friends commented that he had trouble focusing on the discussion because of the music. Not sure if this is a problem many people...

If people are interested in exploring related topics to those in the interview, the most recent episode of the Cracked Podcast discusses similar ideas. They don't talk about video games, rather design in advertising, building layouts, etc... I found it quite interesting.

Re: An interview with Alfie Bown

Just finished my 2nd listening. I can see where some of Alfie's ideas might be seen as a bit extreme, but I thought he was being completely reasonable in the way he presented all of his ideas. Most of the points he made were leaning towards the psychology of how people interact with and use games in...

Re: An interview with Alfie Bown

I thought this was an interesting interview, partly for the content, but also for the reaction that it received on twitter. I didn't feel that anything in it was offensive, everyone was being civil, but I was also focused on making dinner while I listened. I may have to give it another more dedicate...
