Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I think that you should take a look at the backwards compatibility issue before making any decision. The WiiU is backwards compatible with all Wii games and even peripherals as far as I know, while the Switch dropped the concept entirely and only plays Switch games. So based on that, I think you wou...

Re: Games completed 2017

Further worth mentioning is that the Birthright campaign was specifically modeled after Awakening while Conquest was (supposed to be) closer to the classic formula, thus probably reinforcing this deja-vu feeling of yours.

Re: Games completed 2017

Whilst the Fire Emblem games are good fun, I am worried that they are not changing enough between iterations. I don't necessarily disagree... but may I ask which ones you've played? Because while Awakening and Fates are indeed fairly similar, it should be noted that Awakening was itself a departure...

Re: Ninja Gaiden / Black / Sigma / Plus

I first came in contact with this game around ten years ago when an internet acquaintance (who would later become a very dear friend of mine) recommended it to me one day out the blue. "Buy Ninja Gaiden Black!", he brayed. "It's a really cool action game with a really cool ninja, ey! The guy from Do...

Re: Bloodborne

Seems to me like you've got it all pretty much figured out already! :) Nightmare Frontier, Cainhurst Castle and Upper Cathedral Ward are indeed optional (but strongly recommended) areas. And the main path does continue somewhere in the Unseen Village. Paarl isn't the main boss of that area. Keep loo...

Wonderful! That game really manages to reinvigorate the franchise while still staying true to its core spirit.

Re: HD remakes / remasters

I love a Shadow Of The Colossus remake (again). I've got the PS3 version, but a full remake from the ground up with better controls and camera taking advantage of all the PS4 power would make me very happy. As much as I love SotC despite struggling with the controls, I can't say I'm warming up to t...

Re: Games completed 2017

Code Veronica was the last Resident Evil game I played. Never felt any desire to play another after that. Read into that what you will... Oh, I most certainly consider it one of the weaker titles in the series. I just don't think that fans of the classic RE formula should dismiss it out of hand on ...

Re: Games completed 2017

I'm moving onto Resident Evil 3 next, as the thirst is still upon me. Once that's done, I'll dive into 7, which no doubt will be cheaper. (I've already played 5 and I think I'll just skip 6.) If your intention was to play through the main series before RE7... what about CODE: Veronica X? It's a ful...

It makes me very happy to see people appreciating Resident Evil 2 in all its glory after playing it for the first time in 2017. :)

Re: Bloodborne

The Unseen Village does have a bit of a weird layout, but the bell-ringing women are definitely not unreachable or anything. You wouldn't happen to be struggling with the area just before the stairs guarded by the laser-shooting Amygdala by any chance, now would you? Is there a locked cage further d...

First of all, thanks for the kind replies, guys. Appreciate it. I know everyone will be approaching this from their own personal context (Do I remember right that you're from Germany KSubZero?). Re: Videogame News

Unrelated to the PewDiePie situation and more in response to Craig's post - I'm unsure as to what exactly you mean by anti-PC "culture" or what makes it a movement, but I do think that there are valid arguments against the over- or inappropriate use of political correctness and I take issue with see...

Re: The Thirteenth Colossus

Great write-up! Elegant and powerful. It made me want to check out The Fog Horn.

SotC is indeed one of these games which manage to capture the audience's imagination in a beautiful way. Good choice for an essay.

The end does seem a bit abrupt, though. Was this intentional?

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I've just got a Pro Controller for my Wii U, I'm quite excited to try it with Splatoon as it is definitely better for 3rd & 1st person games, though I'm not sure how they will sort the issue of jumping to chosen places on the map which you normally use the Gamepad for... Might help with motion sick...
