Finished up Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze!

Not sure if I have the patience to get the kong letters, but let’s see.
Scratch that, I’ve just got the last two worlds to do. It’s a very different game trying to get the Kong letters.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finished up Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze! Good stuff, but the second to last level with Rambi was a slog. It wanted me to go fast, but not too fast or I’d miss my jump, and then it would make me stop every so often, losing my momentum and often unable to build it back up on time to make the next jump...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I’m getting towards the end and yeah the fugu blowfish Guy is annoying as hell! I wouldn’t really say it’s *hard* just, long, and easy to make a few mistakes towards the end thanks to being underwater.

The world after that is absolutely wonderful though. Love the theme of it all.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Also playing through Tropical Freeze! Loving it. The bosses last way too long, but it’s so colourful and creative I can look past it.

Played a bit of Wargroove at EGX and as a fan of Advance Wars I was impressed
Good to hear! I’ve had my eye on this one ever since it was announced.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I haven't had the time to dive in to it yet but I'm looking forward to it. Unlike some here, I still really enjoy NES games and although I still probably prefer the SNES era, there's certainly something appealing about how simple these games need to be from necessity. I doubt I'll dip into the sport...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

The NSMB games are one of those games which has a weird online bubble - the conversation seems to be generally negative or apathetic, but they consistently sell boatloads. Usually more than their 3D counterparts. And I’d imagine the costs to make them are pretty cheap! Really happy with the direct a...

Re: A Look Into The 3DS Screen Ideal

Great post! I'm absolutely going to stop reading about this now though as I don't want to get too curious and check my 3DS to find out it's got an inferior screen. I don't play it too much these days anyway, but it would drive me crazy any time I did.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

A quick glance over the tweet and most the tweets seemed to be saying to stay safe and the like. There were a few slightly crass but ultimately well meaning tweets saying "I'm disappointed, but makes sense" and then a handful of human detritus. Unfortunately, the latter of which gets completely ampl...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Just picked up Okami for Switch and playing through it for the first time - it's a bit good, innit. Absolutely loving how colourful it is, and the music is wonderful. I've tried using the analogue stick for the brush, but the motion controls on TV or touch screen when handheld just do the job perfec...

Re: Retro gaming

Man, I'm a big sucker for the 90's Nintendo cardboard stuff, especially the Japanese stuff but yeah, the PAL GameBoy stuff holds a super nostalgia effect on me. Not only do they look cool but I lusted after a lot of these as a child, either in the shops, or on the posters that came with the games. ...

Re: Shameless Self Promotion

Good catch, Suits! That is the ricefield I often put on Twitter. It's right by my house/work so sometimes I catch really nice moments. But it's actually a sunset not a sunrise but don't spread it around oh god my lies are all unravelling Thanks very much for the kind words of encouragement and downl...

Re: Shameless Self Promotion

Hello! It's been a year and a half or so since I released my first EP up there in earlier in this topic, and I thought I'd do a little update on how things are going. Also, I've got something to self promote and I am shameless. First things first - Daybreak - the follow up EP! 5 brand spanking new t...

Re: Shovel Knight

Just listened to the podcast of this and it was lovely stuff. Really positive discussion and really makes me pumped up to play it again. Just to clear up something about the music and why it sounds a bit "chiptune plus". The soundtrack goes beyond the limitations of the NES. However, it is entirely ...

The switch not yet having a warioware game is a crime.

Mona is the best Nintendo character of all time. And so is Ashley.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Started I am Setsuna on Switch as it was 50% off and I was hankering for a JRPG. It's scratching the itch really well. Loving the soundtrack and look. Fingers crossed it doesn't require too much grinding later on. The story is rather grim, however.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Purchased Human Fall Flat and I’ve had some proper belly laughs from it. You have an absurd marshmallow like character who walks and controls bit like a chubby toddler freshly awoken from nap time. It starts off great fun, multiplayer too, but unfortunately this clumsy controls start to become frust...

Re: E3 2018 - Conference times and general chat

I feel you, Suits! The Nintendo Conference is on in the middle of the night (a school night at that) and I’m far too old to not be going to bed as soon as physically possible. I’ll be preloading YouTube, hoping my blurry morning vision obscures the thumbnails and watching with my cereal!
