Re: Thumper
Just to say that it does build in intensity considerably, if you think it seems very straightforward from Darren's Quick Rinse. I'm now a bit stuck!

Re: Thumper
I aim to please. I've just given it another twenty minutes actually and it's properly intense and more rhythmically demanding. This is a weird comparison but it's a little bit like Trackmania in that you just do the same bit again and again until you perfect it. That kind of thing appeals to me. As ...

Thumper
Has anyone seen anything of this so-called 'rhythm violence' game? It's kind of like Guitar Hero, except with only one lane, a clanking industrial soundtrack and you're a metallic space beetle flying into the mouth of Satan's emotionally volatile stepdad. I just got it on US PSN, think it's out on T...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I'm about three quarters through Gravity Rush Remastered and I'm absolutely loving it. Pure charm. The soundtrack is obviously one of the best of this generation and the artistic direction is gorgeous, reminds me of a less stylised Triplets of Bellville, at least in terms of colour palette. It's als...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I put about half an hour into Transformers but given I'm playing Bayonetta 2 at the moment, off the back of twenty hours plus in the first game, Transformers seems a bit clunky in comparison. The Witch Time mechanic doesn't really make sense in this context because it's not as fast and enemy attacks...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
That's very good to know, and shows me how little I know about PSVR. Cheers. I'll cancel the subscribe and save sick bags from Amazon.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
I was in the definite camp until I got a GearVR, which I got bored of almost immediately. The resolution is just a constant dissatisfaction. Funnily enough, it's least distractingly bad during games, because low-res graphics matter less than low-res video or what have you but there isn't one single ...

(Whirligig Saw is basically easy mode. If you can make it past Vicar Amelia to access the DLC, you can suicide run it to get the saw and then L2 your way through most bosses - bzzzzzzzzz! Great fun and a genuinely rare OP sensation. I killed Maria first time in about a minute, not a brag, just stunl...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
Hardware reviews are in for PSVR and seem reasonably positive. Software reviews are pretty mediocre. The cinema mode seems to be no better than GearVR, meanwhile. Hmm.

This is copied from reddit: Full quote from /u/finalclipx and original post by /u/fenixsyd "I've talked to two people who have used it. One is from Ubisoft and he said programming for it is actually really nice and Nintendo is working very closely with him and that the concept is great because ...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
Ouch! Thanks for that, though. My memories of playing it and getting nowhere in particular as a 12-year-old are probably limited for the best.

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
OK, cheers, Leon. Can't believe I missed Rhythm Heaven while working through the archives. Perhaps I need a more robust system! And I do appreciate that Leisure Suit Larry is quite a grimy game, just scouring the memory banks of my Amiga days. I'll look forward to some of the 'alreadys' popping up i...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
I'm just going to throw a few out there, in case they've not been mentioned, which I expect they have: Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders Dizzy Series The Chaos Engine Pirates! Street Fighter 4 (I personally think this is the most accessible and yet deepest, best SF game) Repton Series Wipeout A...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been playing through Bayonetta 2, which is brilliant, but I don't feel I've got any particular weapon setup which I like, and I must be two thirds of the way through the game. I'm using the swords in hand and the flamethrowers on my legs. It works, it's effective but I don't feel it's especial...

Re: What's the first videogame you ever remember playing?
Harrier Attack on the Amstrad CPC464. My dad would control the plane and I would sit on his knee hammering space and shift to drop bombs and shoot missiles. I then got into the world of illicit gambling via Fruit Machine. My relative lack of success ended my gambling career at the age of four.

Re: Videogame News
I got about fifty hours out of NMS and talked on here at the time how much I enjoyed it. It fired my imagination and I enjoyed figuring out the odd mechanical thing which the game didn't tell you. I felt like it was going to only get deeper and as I warped and warped and got into the Atlas quest, so...

That sounds like a cool idea, I think I saw Jay Taylor tweeting via True Achievements and wondered what it was. I've been playing through Bayonetta 2, which is brilliant, but I don't feel I've got any particular weapon setup which I like, and I must be two thirds of the way through the game. I'm usi...

Re: Bloodborne
I loved two things in particular about Bloodborne. First, the sense of weight and movement to combat. Each weapon has its own rhythm and, particularly with the addition of the DLC weapons and the lack of stat-based build variety, almost every weapon merits a separate, distinct playthrough. If I watc...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
I'm absolutely delighted with the Wii U and I'm on it ten times as much as the PS4 but at the same time, I can see how it has arguably failed from a library point of view, too. It's perfect for the definitive versions of iterative series and remasters/back catalogue stuff, and I love it for that rea...
