Since summer will be with us shortly, I thought the music that plays during the credits of Bully would be most appropriate. Schools Out by Shawn Lee evokes a nostalgia of summertime adolescence that is a perfect way to end what I feel is one of Rockstar's finest outings.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
After a string of (quite different playing, admittedly) platformers, I thought I would try a genre I never really tried before: walking simulators!* So I picked up Firewatch on the PS4. Digging the slow pace, the environments are beautiful to be in and the story is really intriguing and really pushe...

Re: Yooka-Laylee
So finally beat the bugger today. That was one of the worst final bosses I ever fought against. What a disappointing way to finish a game that I was loving up to that point. Kinda shocked that the same developers created far better designed boss battles in games that are nearing 20 years old! If I w...

This was one of my most anticipated games and how do I rate it? Well, it certainly exceeds at giving ...

Re: Favourite Enemies/Monsters in Games (not Bosses)
Oh, I like this topic, good idea! Here are two monsters that have stuck out to me. The shadow hands in the Forest temple from Ocarina of Time made an already creepy environment just that bit more unsettling. You can never stay still when you are in a room with these things. To see the shadow around ...

Re: Yooka-Laylee
From what I've heard, and this thread is the biggest part of that, I'd be far better off firing up Rare Replay and playing through B-K, B-T and NnB first I cannot recommend you doing this before playing Yooka-Laylee enough really. I am loving it so far but this is a game that assumes that you have ...

Re: Games completed 2017
April 15-Kirby Mass Attack (DS) This is easily the most difficult Kirby game that I have played. Some levels I literally died multiple times on which does not happen to me often with this series. Level diversity was pretty decent (from controlling a tank that shoots out copies of Kirby to one where ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Well, it has been a while since I commented here due to work and life in general but also because I did not want to come across any spoilers for the game I am playing recently. So I got my backer code through Kickstarter to get my PS4 copy of Yooka Laylee. I went and ordered the physical version but...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
That bleach comment was fucking disgraceful. It is this toy throwing out of the pram behaviour that the gaming community indulges in far too much that ensures I never call myself a "gamer". The fact that people are crying that his review has lowered the metacritic score to 97... why the he...

14/01: Rez Infinite 16/01: Journey 20/02: Bastion 20/02: Pokemon Moon 09/03: Grow Home Grow Home (PS4) Grew the star plant and got all 8 star seed pods. This game was a complete emotional rollercoaster for me in terms of how I felt about it during my playtime. At first, I despised it. Wonky controls...

Re: Games completed 2017
Yeah, I second Leon here. One of the finest final levels I have ever had the pleasure of playing through. Perfect way to finish off a true classic of a game.ratsoalbion wrote:DomsBeard wrote:I thought 5 was a bit of a let down![]()

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Ah I'm really glad you gave it another try, yeah you nailed it there, I played most the game in one sitting about 5am just after our last baby was born, half asleep in a haze with him snoozing on my lap. It was incredibly relaxing and dream like! Aww, that is a pretty precious memory to have with t...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
And bizarrely, it was mainly the controls and the climbing mechanic that made me love it so much! I think it's meant to have a fluidity or an inertia to it. But then, I can also see how that might put someone off, too. You know, I admit it must have been the mood I was in when I played it. Things w...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
There was a sale on the Playstation Store and seen Grow Home was only 3 euros so I snatched it up as it always looked intriguing to me. Real glad I spent as little money on this as possible. I found this game horrible. The controls are dreadful, the character won't stop moving after you have stopped...

14/01: Rez Infinite 16/01: Journey 20/02: Bastion 20/02: Pokemon Moon Bastion (PS4) Finished it first time last month but finished the New game plus on Monday. Felt good one hit KO'ing enemies that gave me a lot of grief when I first started this title. Nice pick up and play style to this game, had ...

Re: Games completed 2017
While I also have much more affection overall for SM3DW (and SM3DL for that matter) - and I feel similarly about the less charming NSMB aesthetic - I would contest that the level design and core gameplay mechanics across the NSMB series (except the much maligned NSMB2, which I haven't played) are f...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
When you mentioned ye were doing a happy song special, one track instantly leapt to my mind. While it might not have the wow factor of the Galaxy games, Super Mario 3D World is a worthy addition to the Mario series. The four player co-op led to some great nights in with friends and it had just enoug...

Re: Our next Zelda podcast recording (12.2.17): The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Skyward Sword is somewhat of a blemish on my gaming career as it is the only 3D Zelda game that I have not completed and I feel very little compulsion to ever return to it. First, the stuff I liked. It looked lovely, great music as always, Groose was always entertaining and the bosses were great fun...

Re: Rise of the Far-Right Worldwide
Dismissing all this opposition as urban elites is misguided in the same way as dismissing people supporting it as inbred hicks. Hell, some of the most ferocious opposition is from the National Park Service after the Trump Administration tried to get them to remove tweets about climate change and th...
