Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
Firmware is kind of that mandatory that gets in the way more often than not. Nothing like sitting down in the evening, getting comfortable and ready to play a game, only to be greeted with firmware updates! Love it!

Re: Shmups
Raiden IV Overkill is currently down to 4€ on the EU PS3 store. I think I'll pick it up for that price. Seems silly not to, really. ...Does it pass the expert purity test? :P To pass the expect purity test: First, ye must sacrifice thy third-born distant-cousin upon the alter of Ghor. Second, wait ...

Re: Shmups
Because I think I have more time than I actually have, I recently got an affordable copy of Homura (PS2) from Suruga-ya (via proxy shopping). Even with service fees, it was much cheaper than the inflated eBay prices. If you've played the other forum favourite from Skonec, Psyvariar, then you'll have...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been eyeing off, and hesitating, on GT6 for a long time (even though it's super cheap now). You're welcome to my copy if you want it? It's been sat on my shelf untouched for years since I last played it. I would take you up on that, if I didn't fear that it would sit on my shelf untouched as w...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3 (for my third month now). After smashing the truly excellent GT6 within a few weeks (40 hours or so), I decided to start the new year by revisiting and finishing off, GT5. Oh boy! The 600+ hour completion time is no joke! Not only is GT5 one of the most time consuming game...

Re: Videogame News
More month old news: exA-Arcadia hardware!
Though I’m greatly doubtful of an arcade/game-centre revival outside of Japan, there’s a humble PC-hardware-based logic to the approach.
As much as I like Aka to Blue on my iPhone, proper joystick support is welcome.

Re: Shmups
The downside: The price. The price. And that's not a full kit, so no artwork. :( back when I got the 2 boards I did, Guwange was about 50,000 yen or so. ugh... hopefully it'll get the M2 ShotTriggers treatment one of these days. Those PCB prices are creeping up over time, and I doubt they'll ever g...

Re: Shmups
The upside: the price means it'll probably remain in stock for a while. And, from experience, you're getting a genuine board, not a cheap knock-off conversion.

Rolling Gunner on Switch is officially 'the real deal'. On the waiting list it goes! :P You are more patient than me: finally set up my Japanese Switch account (considerably quick than setting up PSN accounts!), and Rolling Gunner is in the collection! I know there'll be a Western release but... I ...

Re: Shmups
Thats the great thing about this, and previous, hardware generations: software wise, you're getting a one-to-one experience with the arcade counterparts. There's no making concessions (unless we're talking about the Taito ports of Ibara and Mushihimesama for the PS2, so there are some execeptions), ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Still playing through Muv Luv Extra, with three out of seven endings done. Considering Extra is only the first in the trilogy, with Unlimited and Alternative to play through yet, I'll be booked out for some time. Also, only up to the third chapter in Yakuza 4. My play time would perhaps imply that I...

Re: Shmups
Who would have guessed that with this generation of hardware we'd see so many formerly unreleased arcade shooters? I don't think Vasara has ever been ported... if I'm wrong please correct me! It's certainly a better use of hardware than, say, realistic horse testicles in RDR2? I mean, I could be wro...

Re: Anthem
The vague and generically titled Anthem didn't stir people into a buying frenzy? Has the world gone mad? I'm kinda curious, but has Bioware traditionally been the sort of company that made games that, sales-wise, sold numbers in the Call of Duty territory? I've gotta lot of love for KOTOR, and Mass ...

I have a lot of love for Muchi Muchi! The art-style is exaggerated to the point of absurdity, and if you're going to go weird, go all out or don't bother. Not to everyone's taste, but then, what is?
Definitely a lighter and more accessible shooter.

Re: Shmups
speaking of the 360, I've got a HRAP EX-SE on that console that served me well my brief time with the system, but I need recommendations on a good shmup-friendly stick for the PS4. not into modding/customization, though, so something right of the shelf is what I'm lookin' for. anyone? Speaking for ...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I saw Grizzly Man on DVD a few years ago, courtesy of my uni's library, in between semesters when it wasn't in reserve, and yeah... not one that is forgotten. My recent Good/Bad/Ugly: Good: Alita: Battle Angel - I won't lie... this is not a good movie. This is a genuinely great movie (so this is kin...

Re: Videogame News
The already small to non-existent gaming industry in Australia is now roughly around 10% small, thanks to another round of EA layoffs.
I understand: sometimes it's hard for CEO's on $20 million+ a year to scrape by.

Re: Shmups
Guwange is pretty damn fantastic! Speaking of multiple digital accounts, I have the far more affordable Japanese PSN versions of Einhander and Harmful Park, which is definitely a huge difference in price! It's a bit of a pain that there are so many hurdles to accessing games, whether because of regi...

Re: Shmups
It's a shame that the XBone doesn't support those titles... Microsoft are sitting on a goldmine of great games, and it goes to waste! I assume the licensing is too complicated to sort for them to bother with? But I've very much hung onto my 360 for precisely those games. It is currently plugged into...
