Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

We finally got around to Legion's second season, just in time for Season 3 to arrive next month. This show is certainly my favourite superhero TV show, and pretty high up there in my estimation of TV shows in general. Fiction which plays with unreliable and/or shifting perception is something I tend...

Re: Avengers: Endgame (Spoiler Thread)

I'm not going to pretend I have answers to all (or even any) of these questions. Partly, I think it is just an issue with stories about time travel. However, I think the most important rule in all this is that it is not possible to change the past to impact the present that we see in the film. Initi...

Re: Avengers: Endgame (Spoiler Thread)

Hmm. I didn't have much of an issue with any of your points, strangely. The rat seems like such a fluke, but this is a 1 in 14 million chance of success, so I feel like a random act such as that fits okay. Tony doesn't want to be involved, I think, in part because he's still angry, and in part becau...

Avengers: Endgame (Spoiler Thread)

We're off to watch Avengers: Endgame tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Figured it'd be good to have a place for anyone who's seen the film to chat about it, without having to hold back on story/spoiler stuff. No spoiler tags necessary, because I put "spoiler" in the thread title. *Fair warning* -...

Re: Anthem

That sounds wretched, Magical_Isopod. Glad you managed to get yourself into a better place, both employment-wise and emotionally/mentally. I can't imagine unionisation would be a magic wand that solves such problems, but the fear of unions these companies/industries have is a strong argument in favo...

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

I've not been getting as much Sekiro time as I'd like, but am planning to crack on this weekend. I'm continually bowled over by how many areas there are to explore from the castle; I keep finding new paths and being drawn to explore rather than climbing the castle itself.

Re: Dark Souls III

In fact the early game becomes a horrible grinding chore unless you pick a melee class, with many suggesting that you select this class first then switch to a sorcerer later in the game. Regarding starting class, I only ever pick based on what I want to be doing for the first hour or two of the gam...

Re: Dark Souls III

However, I do think as an actual endpoint for the game, and overall “antagonist”, it doesn’t really work very well. It’s a great boss fight, and the callbacks to Gwyn make sense, but it doesn’t really come across like an actual character with an agenda. I think that's exactly my issue with this fig...

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

I'm slowly, but surely improving. It's been a long time since I learned how to play Demon's Souls, and no Souls game since, nor Bloodborne has had such a long learning period as Sekiro has for me. Precise timing and quick reactions are not my strong suit, so the other night I spent an hour or so in ...

Yeah, it's also a hard disagree from me, unsurprisingly. Having a podcast is political. Where it’s hosted is political. Having a Patreon or PayPal tip jar is political. Playing video games is political. Making video games is political. Which games you play is political. What hardware you play them o...

Yep, there were a bunch of media/influencers invited out to NetherRealm the week before last. Good call, Flabyo.

Really enjoying the Kombat Kasts. They're helping stoke my excitement on a weekly basis. :D

Re: Apex Legends

Yeah, the flat HP doesn't make a great deal of sense given the bigger characters (Gibraltar and Caustic) are supposed to be defensive. Though base movement is also equal across all Legends, characters like Bloodhound, Wraith, Pathfinder and Bangalore all have abilities that increase effective moveme...

Re: Mortal Kombat 11

Everything about Johnny looks great to me. The Fatality is the icing on the cake, and wonderfully reflects the character's goofiness. The leak is unfortunate, but it's not like the MK11 roll out has been a watertight affair. Like Glen, I won't spoil anything here. A couple of YT thumbnails already g...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Also, can't really recommend the Vita version of Mortal Kombat (9). It's fine, but the teeny, tiny controls are way too easy for my large fingers to fumble over when in a panic.

Re: Apex Legends

I can definitely see some tweaks to these. For example, I get that being able to place an exit portal anywhere you can see might be really OP, but if it were a grenade toss, like Gibraltar and Bangalore's air strikes, it'd at least allow for recon and taking risks a bit more. Likewise, Bangalore's s...

Re: Apex Legends

I haven't seen much use of Pathfinder, to be honest. Would be interested to see its abilities used effectively, because they seem limited to me, on paper at least.
