Re: Shenmue II - Cane & Rinse 65

I was wondering if there was a technical problem with timing too. Also I think I can shed some light on to the Xbox update thing. If you erase your cache on your 360 you are forced to download all the patches for all your games again the next time you boot them up. So sometimes you can put in a game...

Re: Times I've held my breath for real whilst playing games.

I don't get this feeling anywhere near as much as I used to when I was a lot younger. I can think of countless times when I felt like that in my earlier days. Fighting bosses in Majora's Mask; weaving through traffic in the original Burnout games; fighting intense battles with monsters in God of War...

Re: THQ auction

I think Double Fine has always owned all it's own IPs since Brutal Legend, regardless of who has published them. None of them were up for sale at the auction. EDIT: I've heard that Double Fine were bidding for the IPs for some of there most recent games, but only the console rights. Don't know if th...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

Watched Tron Legacy yesterday. I saw it in the cinema when it first came out but recently I had the urge to watch it again so I got the DVD. It's audio-visual ecstasy, but that's about it. I love the visual design and the world it's set in, and the soundtrack compliments it so well, but there's virt...

I actually forgot about this thread. Might as well post a song I've been listening to recently.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

For the first time in ages I played a bit of Ocarina of Time today. That game has always been my mark of shame in my backlog as a Zelda fan. I had gotten stuck on the Spirit Temple and just left it and got distracted by other stuff a long time ago. That's happened a lot of times in this game for me....

Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

I didn't even know there was a thread for this game. If I knew I would have posted sooner. I've actually talked about it on these forums before in the thread for DMC, so I'll just quote myself from there. But that's not my last word on the topic. I've also played another demo that relates to these g...

Re: THQ auction

I'm so sad Vigil and Darksiders didn't get picked up. Such a great studio and such a great series, both cut short when they were only gathering momentum. It was one of my favourite series of this generation, and I can hardly believe it's over. How can no one have bid for them? They should all be ash...

Re: Devil May Cry 1-4 & DmC

I know. It's more a desire to know what came before for informational or cultural purposes, rather than narrative. Like watching the Bond films to get a feel for the history of the character before watching Casino Royale. My patience may dictate how far I'll get with this anyway; I'm up to Mission ...

Re: Alan Wake - Cane & Rinse 64

I didn't expect there to be a big negative response to this game. I thought it was generally pretty well regarded. I used to have a friend who was a big Stephen King fan so he really loved it. From what I saw watching him play it it looked pretty interesting and unique. I never knew the story was su...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

My low expectations of the day come from Enslaved, a game I just couldn't bring myself around to starting due to a disagreement by my eyes with it's variable framerate and my passive insistence to focus on shortcomings of the Unreal engine. I'm just starting chapter 7 and have been blown away by al...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

More DMC 3 today. I just beat Vergil's first encounter. He was actually fairly easy. Only took two tries, and with DMC the first try is almost always just a corpse run to see how bosses act, anyway. But I found him easier than just the group of generic enemies you have to fight right before him. I w...

Re: Devil May Cry 1-4 & DmC

I agree. I always tend to prefer bladed weapons in most games, so I've stuck with the Arbiter and only use Eryx when I have to.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

What I was trying to say is that I don't get how Chinese police were even allowed to raid the place, since it wasn't technically under Chinese jurisdiction. It would have been like France sending police to raid a drug den in Belgium, wouldn't it? Then again, I guess China has shown on many occasions...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Police raids on the Kowloon Walled City? I thought that place was a hive of illicit activity because it wasn't technically under the rule of China, or anyone for that matter. That's the whole reason it existed at all.

Re: Devil May Cry 1-4 & DmC

That Devil Trigger Explosion does sound really useful. I'll have to try it out next time I'm playing DMC 3. I'm sure if I used it before then I would have gotten past the boss I'm currently stuck on with much more ease. So far I haven't even used Devil Trigger at all. Same with DmC. I keep forgettin...

Solid review scores coming for DmC.: http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2013/01/14/dmc-review-round-up---high-scores-abound As I have no money right now, and I'm about to get a new PC, I shall wait, pay less and play it in 60fps on that format. 8-) Haha! I like how they took the obviously su...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Been playing DMC 3 today because of the new game and the podcast. Managed to get past Cerberus with actually not much trouble. Took me a few tries but I went at it smarter this time and it wasn't so much of a problem. Played up until Agni & Rudra, the two headless bosses who fight with swords. Had a...
