Re: Cyberpunk 2077

New Night City Wire went up yesterday showcasing a console version of the game for the first time. You see it running on Xbox One X and Xbox Series X, although it's not the actual 'next gen' version on Series X which apparently won't be out until next year, rather just the Xbox One version boosted t...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

No worries! I've used headsets of one form or another for years, and I think a good headset can be quite transformative to the experience in terms of immersing you in the world. I can also have it cranked up quite load without my wife complaining ;) With 3D audio becoming more of a thing this gen as...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

Next gen headset recommendation if anyone's looking for one compatible with everything - the SteelSeries Arctis 7X. I've been using a SteelSeries Arctis Pro + Game DAC on PS4 and Xbox One and it was great, but with the new consoles lacking optical ports it was not going to be fully compatible anymor...

Re: What's your first next gen game

Wow he's taken some really nice shots hasn't he! I've been really impressed by the visuals all-round but there's so much detail going on there that you just don't see when you're screaming round the track. I think it was Ryan McCaffrey at IGN that in his Dirt 5 preview said he wasn't very impressed ...

Re: What's your first next gen game

I'm having a blast with Dirt 5 on Series X! Over-the-top rally racing that looks gorgeous, with a handling model that's all about sliding around corners, blasting over jumps and generally just razzing about like a lunatic! The dynamic weather and day/night systems that change mid-race are also a rea...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

I guess it's subjective as I'm sure some people swear by their 4K monitors, but it stands to reason that the smaller the display the less obvious/visible pure pixel count is going to be. At the very least you can get away with lower resolutions on smaller screens without them starting to look soft. ...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

I picked up a Series S and a 32" 1080p HDR for my newly created man cave. Funnily enough, what I'm most impressed with so far is the TV. A smaller screen just feels right for me. I played through The Last of Us Part II on my 27" 4K work monitor and it was a revelation and I'm feeling that...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

Initial impressions of the Series X are really positive! For starters they put some real effort into the unboxing experience. Just a really nicely thought out and put together way of presenting you with the machine for the first time, and it all just felt a bit special. The console itself is actuall...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

Each console launch feels a little less exciting than the last, partly due to age and partly due to diminishing returns, however... I am still excited! I didn’t make any effort to secure pre-orders but have managed to buy a PS5 pre-order from a friend, and am looking forward to BluePoint Demon’s So...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

I desperately want an LG OLED. Definitely a reason to be excited! Have a good mid-range 4K HDR Samsung but that will be something I'm eyeing up for next year! Xbox does have console/timed exclusives on some interesting third party and indie games on or not far from launch that interest me (e.g. Med...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

Very much so. New hardware always excites me, and it’s a light in this otherwise dismal year for me. It has indeed been a shitter of a year! Hope you're doing alright! I'm not sure viruses have an understanding or appreciation of the Gregorian calendar, so I'm not expecting a miraculous turnaround ...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

You both make really fair points I think. Alex I wish I had your pragmatism! I think you'll be impressed with the Xbox ecosystem nowadays when you do jump onboard eventually. Simon interesting that you've gone for a Series S with All Access + a full-fat PS5. Really sensible "best of both worlds...

Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

Now that we’re just a month or so away from release, who is genuinely excited for the next generation of consoles? I ask this as to me there seems to be a fair amount of apathy floating around, not just on these forums specifically, but in the online ether in general. In the past most new consoles s...

Re: Videogame News

Isn't there usually an increase at the start of a new generation and prices fall slowly over the course of the generation. I think new boxed games were €70 (some maybe even €75) in shops at the start of the gen and now its €60-65. I agree it is a bit of a bump to €80 (see Demon's Souls) this time t...

Re: Is there such thing as a perfect game?

As a developer you always strive for it, but I don’t think ‘perfection’ is possible. Every game ever made has things in it that the developer hates about it they’d love to do differently. That’s as true for games as it is for movies, books, high art, everything. You're absolutely right of course. I...

Not 'news' as such, but there's a really interesting article on Eurogamer about the impending price hike for next gen games and it's potential impact on the market and gamers, particularly on PS5 where there isn't a genuine Game Pass equivalent. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-10-01-we-need-...

Not even Lost Vikings or Rock n’ Roll Racing?
