Re: Features you want from the PS5 and Xbox Series X
Of course they have made many games available digitally, but having to buy them again isn't great for customers, especially when you own the originals. Out of interest Darren, have you used your Xbox One for any backwards compatible stuff? How well did the games run? Just a correction in case I'm r...

Re: Save The National Videogame Museum
Hi all! This is Conor from the NVM. Sorry, I'm a lapsed forum user! Thank you all SO MUCH for the support. It was a pretty bleak time back in March, but we're super excited to reopen now. Thanks for coming on to the forum with the update Conor! Delighted that the NVM is managing to weather the stor...

Re: Exclusives of the generation?
Out of interest, what changes have you seen playing Xbox One games on the X compared to the original Xbox One and S models (if you have those at all)? I owned a launch Xbox One originally and the bump in resolution alone has been a huge step up. If you think the standard Xbox One (including the One...

Re: Black Myth: Wu Kong
Saw this doing the rounds on Twitter and it looks great - will definitely be keeping an eye on it! Will be really interesting to see how the Chinese game dev scene develops over the coming years. It's huge already and there are studios popping up all over the place, but while some are working as sup...

Re: Save The National Videogame Museum
Positive news from the NVM - they are reopening this Saturday 22nd August! It's pre-booking only and in limited time slots with mask-wearing mandatory, but great news considering things weren't looking good a few months back. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-08-19-national-video-game-museum-r...

Re: Favourites that have waned
Aged like a fine wine for me whereas Shenmue has aged like a fine steak... Well apparently the world's most expensive steak, considered an exquisite delicacy, was aged for 15 years, and this article is from 5 years ago, meaning the steak was from the year 2000 - right between the release of the She...

Re: Exclusives of the generation?
I agree with a lot of what you're saying here. My One X is also my third party games machine of choice, and as a piece of hardware it is my favourite of the three this gen. I guess I like some of those other exclusives a little more, but to each their own! Do agree that they are behind in terms of o...

In no particular order... PS4 - God of War, The Last of Us: Part 2, Spider-Man. Switch - TLOZ: Breath Of The Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Xbox One - Forza Horizon 3, Gears 5, Sunset Overdrive Must say I think people are maybe a little mean spirited towards the poor Xbox on exclusiv...

Re: Retro gaming
Have to decide what game gear games to go look for now. Heard good things about it’s two Shinobi games, and it has some weird RPG based on golden axe that might be fun. Anyone else got any game gear recommendations? Game Gear was my first 100% my-own gaming system (i.e. not having to share it with ...

Recent pick-ups from the last couple of weeks. No showstoppers but some new things I'm really excited to try and some old favourites I'm looking forward to revisiting. https://i.imgur.com/AiNM0Pv.jpg?1 Mechwarrior 2 - Saturn - This was a game I always wanted to pick up at the time as I remember it g...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
I think it’s not so much that Sony have never done it before that is the issue, it’s that the xbox series x *does* work with all the XBO pads. Admittedly the only new function on the XSX pad over the XBO one is a dedicated share button. (Also, I’m kind annoyed that my PS4 fight stick will need yet ...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread
Agree with most of what Stanshall says there (although you didn't like Spider-Man?? Dude...). Especially agree that we're going to get absolutely none of the things on that Nintendo wishlist! Also agree with Angry K's point and it's something I've felt for a while. The quality of what Sony's first p...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread
The most striking thing for me was how grimdark a lot of it was. There’s great stuff in there, but so *much* overlap of theme and general aesthetic vibe. The sony presentation mixed it up a lot more I felt, there was a lot less of the ‘dudes with guns’ in their one. Also, very little gameplay was s...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread
I agree that they did have a wide variety of games and at lot I was interested in, but I think I was expecting more gameplay to be shown. For example with Hellblade 2, all they pretty much said was that the game is set in Iceland, all the footage they showed was from the previous trailer. From what...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread
To be honest I've been really surprised that people are so negative/apathetic about that show. For me that was a diverse line-up of 25 really interesting looking games. Halo, Forza, Fable, Hellblade, Avowed, Everwild, State of Decay, Psychonauts.....from some of the reaction online so many people se...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread
This is probably the most I've looked forward to a conference/briefing/showcase (whatever we call these things now!) for a long time. There's just so much riding on it for Microsoft that it adds an extra layer of intrigue beyond just gawping at new video games. They've ended up having a good but uns...

Re: Video game tie-in media
The whole lore over plot thing isn't something I'm a fan of personally, although I admit it can have its place in certain types of game. For example I can see how for multiplayer games designed for high volume repetitive play like Overwatch and Apex, it's very difficult to deliver much in the way of...

Re: Games Completed 2020
Reach is an interesting one in that it sits firmly in the period where they were assuming that people were not just playing the games but also reading all the novels and watching all the web series. Most of it’s stronger story beats rely on you knowing a little more about the overall plot and chara...
