Favorite Video Game Movie

Considering we've had a few new ones the past few months, I was just wondering if any of the recent video games movies are anyone's favorite now. Not that there are a TON of quality ones to pick from, but I feel like we've seen a couple of "yeah, that was fine" films. I mean, my favorite m...

EDIT: US only. FFS :(
Sorry to hear that, it's a great service, even when it's not free. Am I right in thinking you don't have access to Comixology or DC Infinite either?

Re: Games Completed 2022

Finally finished The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. Besides being super long and moving at it's own pace, story-wise, I might just be bad at these games? I don't think, after two of these monsters, I still fully understand how to make a killer party setup. Or maybe I do and the game is alwa...

Re: Books completed (and general book talk)

I started reading The Three-Body Problem - a science fiction novel written by the Chinese writer Liu Cixin. From the first sentences, from the first chapters, I understand that this is a masterpiece. Yeah, it's a good read. A dense read at times, but a good one. I haven't finished the trilogy yet.

Re: The News (formally the Covid thread)

Something Don posted on Twitter earlier made me realise that everyone is probably thinking about it, but nobody seems to be talking about it. Obviously the situation in Ukraine is desperately awful, and I can't be the only one genuinely anxious about the threat of nuclear war. Putin is deranged, an...

Re: Books completed (and general book talk)

Same at Alex. Gaiman was going for a style with Stardust, trying to replicate fantasy books from the pre-Tolkien age. Neverwhere is always my go-to recommendation for someone who hasn't read his stuff.

Re: Games Completed 2022

And here I thought I was the only one who thought the first Uncharted was a genuinely broken, needlessly frustrating game. I couldn't believe it when I first played it. Thankfully the second game is an improvement on it in every way- aiming's better, enemies are better, there's lots more variety to...

Re: Your soothing gaming fix

Honestly, I think a lot of games I choose to play are soothing laid back games to unwind to, so I don't quite feel the need to go back to the classics as much. I think this is a major reason I play so many JRPGs. I once wrote a blog about how I think JRPGs are "cozy games". The music, the...

Re: Games Completed 2022

I also finished the first Uncharted game, which was a rather unpleasant experience. I had to keep forgiving the game, since it's 15 years old... but they knew how to make third-person shooters/action games back then too, so that excuse doesn't fly. The production levels are still very impressive bu...

Re: Games Completed 2022

Sigh, my video-game-playing life is super limited these days. I'd need a drastic life change to go back to playing regularly. But, here's what I've got in the first 2 months of the year. I won a game of Civ VI of Deity via Domination, which was cool. I was all shaky the last few turns, afraid someth...

Last Book Finished: Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie. This is the third and final book in Joe Abercrombies First Law trilogy. Your soothing gaming fix

For me, when I need to not just escape but be calmed, it's a sim game. I don't want something like Age of Empires, it's more like Civilization or Rollercoaster Tycoon. Civ, even if I'm in conflict with other civs, moves at my pace, which I appreciate. I think one of my favorite gaming memories where...

Re: Let's remember stuff from about 20 years ago...

2002 is the year - -I quit my lifelong Nintendo solidarity and bought a PS2 (with Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Dynasty Warriors 3, and Final Fantasy X). -Spider-Man came out. The first movie I ever bought advance tickets for. Which was good because our showing was sold out. I saw some kid...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Started both Hades and Breath of the Wild over the past week. I haven't played Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword yet, but I guess I didn't feel like waiting anymore. Anyway, liking them both. I had a sweet run in Hades on my 6th go, and that loss really knocked the wind of me. But I'm digging it fo...

Re: Comic Book Chatter

I've been reading through the post- House of X/Powers of X stuff. The Hickman era! What a time to be reading X-Men comics. Just wish I liked it! I can see a lot of the appeal but it doesn't click for me. Some of the books, like Hellions and Marauders , win me over but the rest haven't done it for me...
