Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

So, not new, but the wife and I just rewatched the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings films. I got both trilogies on bluray for Christmas and it felt like a good time to do it. The extended editions of the Hobbit films are sort of a mixed bag. The first is a lateral move, I don't think it makes anything bette...

Re: Shameless Self Promotion

Sorry KSub! We're bi-weekly and we had a J.M. DeMettias interview scheduled first!

Thanks Alex! My teenage self would have a hard time believing he would get to do that interview! I know because I had a hard time believing it!

Not sure what everyone’s situation is, but here’s a link to Amazon’s job portal. They’re hiring a lot of work-from-home jobs. A few in the UK, as well. https://www.amazon.jobs/en/location/virtual-locations?offset=30&result_limit=10&sort=relevant&job_type=Full-Time&distanceType=Mi&...

Re: 413: Florence

I love the visual metaphors for relationships in Florence. The speech bubbles needing less pieces as the relationships strengthens and more common ground is found, the speech bubble's pieces getting sharper during fights, the need to decide what to keep and get rid of as the couple moves in together...

Re: Gaming firsts /most influential games

This could go on for a while so I'll try to limit myself... Super Mario Bros. First video game I ever played as kid. I doubt I could read by the time I had that NES controller in my hand. Age of Empires Cemented my love for RTS and sim/god games. I play Civ and all that because of the first AoE game...

Glad to hear it all went OK. Time to de-stress at least a tiny bit! You all sorted for WiFi and stuff? Doesn't sound so important, but I'd feel lost without it! Internet comes tomorrow (hopefully!) Luckily, I never stopped getting movies that I love physically over the years, so were not hurting fo...

Re: Let's have a thread about the virus, then. We might as well.

We got finished our move. Our friend who was going to drive our truck cancels two days before his flight over understandably fear of getting sick and losing work. We had my wife’s uncle fly up the next day. He said the plane had a passenger for every six rows. I drove 11 hours with three dogs in the...

I Think You Should Leave on Netflix. The best sketch comedy I've seen in years. It's another level. Please check it out! 7xS9Y_mjTjc I watched it when it came out and have been showing friends non-stop. It's so funny. I want more. More Netflix laugh? Frankenstein's Monster's Monster, Frankenstein. ...

Re: Games Completed 2020

I decided to load up DOOM 2016 for another go. I don't replay games often these days, but I knew when I first beat the game that I would be back for more. Played it on Ultra-Violence mode this time. I want to go into Nightmare mode but I'm going to give myself some room to not get burnt out on it. B...

Re: Let's have a thread about the virus, then. We might as well.

I feel incredibly selfish about it all right now. My wife and I have been trying to find new work and move for a the last few years and she finally did last month. So, we both get our notices and have been preparing to move house for the last month, as all of this has gotten worse. Now, we'll have a...

Re: Books completed

This year so far I've finished: A Memory Called Empire , by Arkady Martine. Really loved it, as a foreigner living in a strange culture the novel's exploration of culture shock (as well as the dynamics of weaker cultures being absorbed into and around larger more dominant cultures) was super intere...

Has anyone on here kept up with Batman..? I finished the Batman New 52 run a couple of years ago and loved it, one of my all time favorite runs. I'm now looking at starting Rebirth. I've been slowly collecting the Bat-Family books over the last couple of years and am not really that interested in c...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I started Sleeping Dogs a few nights ago. I think I forgot it was an open world game? I might have not picked it had I remembered but I'm glad I did. It's a lot of fun so far and I find myself doing all the different side quests, including karaoke. It's very pretty, the setting feels incredibly fre...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Yeah, I wonder if they'll ever release numbers of cost/benefits of it all for them. It seems like everyone I know always says they'll just play "insert game title" it on gamepass. But, if current games are being played on gamepass, that means people have the sub each month, has to be doing...

Re: Your first four PS2 games

I never had a PS2 when it was new, I got one much later (but still before PS3/360 time). As such there were already loads of games out. Memory is hazy, but I'm fairly sure I actually got these games first: Final Fantasy X Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec Metal Gear Solid 2 I'm wracking my brains for the four...

Your first four PS2 games

The PS2 turned twenty today! Instead of your favorite PS2 game, what were your first four games for the console? (you can say your favorite if you really want to) Mine were all bought with my PS2 on the same day (there was some kind of sale a Blockbuster the summer of 2002). Final Fantasy X Metal Ge...
