Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Have been playing around with the PCEngine / Turbo Grafx 16 mini a bit over the holidays. It's a console I never had any experience with before as a child, so there's not a big nostalgia factor or anything with it (except for bomberman, which I'm pretty sure I played on the Mega Drive back in the da...

Re: Games Completed 2022

Fair play Alex, I also really enjoyed Halo 5, it gets a bit of a hard time but there's some cool stuff in there.
It's wild you never played them before now, great to hear you enjoyed it so much!

Welcome, always glad to see new members. I agree, I appreciate how C&R isn't just chasing headlines or the newest hotness.

Re: Board/Card Games - The obligatory "analogue" gaming thread

I've been getting sucked into an RPG called Dungeon Crawl Classics lately, reading all their material is so fun, it's all very evocative and inspiring, all based on old-school fantasy fiction, "pre-genre" fantasy is what they describe it as, as it's all stuff that was written before all th...

Re: Books completed (and general book talk)

Started reading Piranesi last night as a friend bought me it as a gift over the holidays. Very mysterious, the world is slowly unfolding in a very disjointed puzzle-piece kind of way as the narrator seems to have some form of amnesia or something. Very interesting and I'm really enjoying it so far, ...

Re: Merry Christmas everyone

Happy Christmas and New Year's to all the c&r forum gang! I've been off work for about a week and a half and I've been doing nothing but reading RPG books and watchings loads of random films. It's been bliss

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Played and finished Exo One the other night.
That was a lovely way to spend 2.5 hours... flying and controlling the wee orb thing feels really cool, and the environments are all gorgeous to look at.

Re: Halo Infinite

Yes, plasma carbine and plasma pistol do the job! but a surprising amount of weapons bounce right off them, which is pretty cool haha, provides a little complication to fights with them. I'm playing it and have sunk about an hour or two into the open-worldy section of the game, and I have to say, I'...

Re: Halo Infinite

I like that you can specifically choose "gamepad" playlist for Ranked. That is something that the matchmaking got right, imo. Yeah I'm loving 4v4. It's just perfectly balanced and paced, something about it and the maps are so well designed for it, even for the different game modes, it's al...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Just loaded Viewtiful Joe on to my Series S via Retroarch, and fuck me it looks incredible at 4 x the resolution (can push it higher, but usually get frame rate issues in most games, but I might try it out later). Man alive, absolutely amazing! I've been asking for a remaster for years, well here i...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

They have some absolute classics that's for sure. I know they get lots of hype but some of their stuff really is timeless. I have to agree.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I loved the first Wolfenstein game but I think it was Wolfenstein II I played recently and yeah, I had a lot of the same issues as you Scrustle. I couldn't figure out what was going on, the game just felt really annoying to play. At a certain part I was just pushing through it to get to the next sto...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

Watched Dune twice now. I was lukewarm on it first time, but I fell in love with it the second time round. Understanding it a bit more, catching some things I'd missed and enjoying that huge expansive world was a fantastic experience. It was a lot of set up, but it still felt like a worthwhile story...

Re: Halo Infinite

It's bloody brilliant, isn't it? Funny you say that Slayer was a bit boring, I have been playing just the 4v4 playlist so far (I'll play the BTB stuff soon, but I'm just having so much fun in 4v4 that I keep playing it), and it just hit me after a Team Slayer game that we lost 49:50 on Recharge (lov...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm absolutely loving Halo Infinite multiplayer. It's really amazing. It's classic halo but with new twists, and the new guns are all super cool and weird, which I'm loving. The heatwave is surprisingly good vs. vehicles!

Re: 500 - Outer Wilds

I played Outer Wilds back in 2019. I can't remember how I found it, I think I'd heard some rumblings here and there on twitter and other sites about how good it was. I checked it out and it looked right up my alley - I love stargazing and reading about planets, black holes, solar systems, and ponder...
