Re: 2023 Top Ten
Great year for games where I managed to miss a lot of heavy hitters like Armored Core, Rogue Trader and Jedi Survivor which I will play eventually, but Baldur's Gate 3 and Wrath of the Righteous sucked up a lot of my time. 10. Super Mario Wonder 9. Horizon Call of the Mountain 8. Street Fighter 6 7....

Re: 600: Demon's Souls (2020)
Demon's Souls was half the reason I bought a PS5 and it didn't disappoint. Blue Point really knows how to make a pretty remaster and Demons Souls is certainly no exception, it's still of the best looking games on the system. They did such a great job utilizing lighting in a way that really emphasiz...

Re: Videogames to look forward to in 2024
My most anticipated games next year are Dragon's Dogma 2 and Shadow of Erdtree (Elden Ring DLC). Also really looking foward to Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Persona 3 Reloaded, and Avowed.

Unfortunately I do think it goes a bit overboard with the jumpscares.Indiana747 wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 1:23 am I didnt find it scary, its grusome in parts, sound design sets up a lot of the tension & the main bad guy is quite malevolent. Id say its more sinister than scary.

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Just saw Priscilla and it was fantastic, it flew by for me and I thought they was another half of the movie left when it ended (which was dumb in retrospect).

Re: Games Completed 2023
I plan to pick it up as I really enjoyed the first game, however I didn't click with Control. Mainly due to how obtuse the story was. Would you say AW2 is just as obtuse or more straightforward story telling like the first Alan Wake? [/quote] It can definitely be obtuse and features more meta stuff...

Re: Games Completed 2023
I finished Alan Wake 2 and it's my game of the year. To start off it looks incredible, the lighting and general area design is just on another level, I'm playing it on PS5, and it's crazy that it can look even better on a high end PC. It's got really satisfying combat that doesn't get old. Going a m...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I watched Killers of the Flower Moon and it's an extremely well made bleak tragedy where you're constantly hoping something will change while things just continually get worse. It also seemed to forgo a lot of the flourishes and exaggerations you see in most biopics/historical titles which did add m...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I started playing Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous after Baldur's Gate 3 after getting a taste for some classic CRPGs, and it's fantastic. The interesting thing I realized after reading up on it a little is that almost all the big modern CRPGs aside from the ones made by Larian have been crowdfunde...

Not a game, but I'm desperate to see that Elden Ring DLC, since From's DLC tends to be some of their best work.

Re: Games Completed 2023
If you guys want some really solid side material Baldur's Gate 3 is perfect, none of the optional quest feel low effort or copy paste, they all feel really unique and they're really well presented.

Re: Videogame News
On the Baldur's Gate 3 news cycle, I think it's a bit of a misleading narrative. It's a very successful game for a non AAA studio, but it's unlikely to match the sales of other big hitters like Zelda, Diablo, Jedi Survivor, and Spiderman. Baldur's Gate 3 is a great game and having no micro transacti...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I started playing Baldur's Gate 3, buying it via GOG because I almost expected to bounce off it despite the very positive reception. For reference the only Isometric RPG I really got into was Disco Elysium, not really getting on with the other ones I tried, but Baldur's Gate 3 is really working for ...

Re: Games Completed 2023
I just finished FF12 and really enjoyed it. It had a lot of elements in common with FF16, but often with a different focus. It had a similar open zone approach to world design with more variety and rewarding exploration. The villian basically had the same goal as Clive but he was a violent maniac an...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
After being a little disappointing with FF16, I decided to finally go back to what some consider to be the peak of the series with FF6 and I'm loving it. As expected it's got great atmosphere with an incredible score and impressive pixel art. But the biggest suprise for me is how much I'm enjoying t...

Re: Games Completed 2023
I finished FF16 and wished I liked the story as much as everyone else did, but it just didn't connect, especially the characters. I liked Gav, Cid, and Dion but everyone else felt pretty one note even though most of the voice acting was good. I liked the idea of the story, but the inclusion of an ov...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I played a lot of FF16 (30 hours) and while I'm enjoying it mostly for the combat and spectacle the story and characters just get blander as they go on. Initially I liked where it was going especially your main goal, (mid game spoilers ahead) but then everything becones about Ultima which is just bl...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've slowly been making my way through Dusk. It's an old school shooter that takes a lot of inspiration from Blood and Quake and it scares the shit out of me. It uses the low poly visuals incredibly well and maintains a very effective atmosphere. It's one of the scariest games I've played, the creep...
