Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Origins did have a few scripted sailing missions when you played as Aya, later in the story. In Odyssey it’s back fully, once you’ve completed Kephallonia. Hope you enjoy it! I beat the Torment of Hades DLC episode last night. I thought the side quests were surprisingly great. Really well written. T...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

How would you rate Odyssey next to the rest of the series? I began a really slow playthrough of the entire series about four years ago and slowly made my way through every game up to Origins when it came to Gamepass earlier in the year. I initially really enjoyed it, but bailed when I realised I co...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey - Legacy of the First Blade done. Decided to put the Torment of Hades DLC on hold and go back to complete this. Quite short, just a couple of evenings to bash through it. The story does sit awkwardly with the rest of Kassandra’s journey and I almost consider it a “what if” ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I watched The Northman , which made me feel like trying Assassin’s Creed Valhalla , which reminded me I never did the paid DLC packs for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey . The free quest pack, Lost Tales of Greece, was a highlight of the game, getting closer to the lofty heights of The Witcher 3 than anythi...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Interesting to see these takes on Deathloop . For the longest time I thought I was in a real minority over the game. As somebody dedicated to the Dishonored series, and I mean besotted with it, I found Deathloop a bit of a letdown. The feel of the combat and the guns - all amazing, and the powers ar...

Streets of Rage 4 - HUGE fun! Got it on sale on Switch. The music is amazing and the stages are so fun to pummel through.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Have now played through the new map for Hitman III three times. Ambrose Island it’s called, set in the Andaman Ocean. It’s a lot like a Hitman 2 map, really sprawling with lots of sub zones to discover and cause trouble in. Love it for that reason and really good to finally have another one of these...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Citizen Sleeper - extremely excellent writing and some cool character art. The VN/ choices matter story trees of this game are the main strength and are keeping me pretty gripped. The actual gameplay of waiting out clocks and rolling dice to try and reduce others based on RNG is far from thrilling t...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm all the way back in with Into the Breach. I play it on and off all the time anyway, but the Advanced Edition has just added five new squads, about 40 new weapons and abilities, some new pilots and mechanics (like a damage boost you can get in various ways) plus a bunch of new Vek enemies. It all...

Re: Shameless Self Promotion

Been having a lot of fun with the podcast, and through my social accounts for it have found a lovely corner of Twitter with likeminded folks where we just chat SK cinema and telly all the time. Recent episodes: Park Chan-wook’s Vengeance Trilogy (incl. Oldboy) Mr. Sunshine The Pirates (and its recen...

Re: Our next podcast recording (19.6.22) - 524: Pyre

This is one of the best games I will very possibly never want to play again. Not because there was any aspect of it I did not enjoy, but because the story the game handcrafted just for me based on both my decisions and the outcomes of the rites feels so finished and perfect. I fell in love with this...

Re: Disco Elysium

Thanks :) Did you bother with the thought cabinet stuff much? I did the first three I got but haven't considered it since because it seems like a waste of an upgrade point to 'forget' one thought to make room for another. Not completely sure what all these thoughts do! I didn’t use points on forget...

Re: Disco Elysium

I'm currently playing this, I'm about 15 hours in and on day two. I've not read the rest of this thread to avoid spoilers, but just wondered if anyone knows - does the game have a time limit? I'm enjoying the game but can't shake the feeling I might run out of time or something. I've looked online ...

Re: Elden Ring

I got the platinum for this back on the 8th of May. What I love about it is the variety you have even within one build to have lots of different approaches and loadouts. So my first endgame character was built around the Blasphemous Blade and using a lot of Black Flame and Dragon Communion incants, ...

Re: Our next podcast recording (21.5.22) - 520: Control

Everybody talks about the Ashtray Maze. Rightly so, it's great. But what about the moment when you step off an industrial platform and are suddenly floating through a surreal forest while a Finnish waltz plays? It's an incredible moment. This game does X-files vibes and journeys into the surreal as ...
