Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I managed to bag The Hayao Miyazaki Collection on Blu-Ray for only 30 quid. I got it off Wish and I expected there to be some issue, but it's in perfect condition and works fine on my PS4. It still feels like it's too good to be true, I'm expecting it to randomly burst into flames at some point. I w...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been on Streets of Rage 4 for the last month or so. I'm not too keen on the new art style, doesn't bother me either though. The option for retro soundtrack is a huge plus, I'm a nostalgia whore so I want all of that. I've decided to go for the platinum trophy, I don't normally bother with them,...

Re: Favourites that have waned
Rascal is an easy choice, bit different from the others here in that I was one of the only people who liked it in the first place. I didn't know any better, it was one of the first games I ever owned (still have that same disc). Me and my mum would take it in turns playing it, it'd take use ages to ...

Re: Rolling Stone's Top 40 Sci-Fi Movies of the 21st Century
Amazing. I’m really looking forward to hearing what you thought. Well I took my time but I've finally watched it. I think that, having seen a few time loop films/series in the past year, I've got a good idea of how things will play out and it wasn't until about halfway that it threw me any curve-ba...

Re: Comfort Gaming
I like to chuck on one of those retro games collections e.g Sega Genesis Collection. Then I can just play for a quick 10-30 minutes on a few different games, easy to jump in and out. Dynasty Warriors 3 can be a nice relaxing way to kill a couple of hours (and a couple thousand soldiers) but not a ne...

Re: Rolling Stone's Top 40 Sci-Fi Movies of the 21st Century
So this thread reminded me I had been meaning to get around to a low-budget Spanish sci-fi called Time Crimes. Ignore the name, I know it sounds like an 80s B movie but it's pretty great lol. It's no where near as convuluted but if you've seen stuff like Dark or Primer you'll have some idea what yo...

Re: Rolling Stone's Top 40 Sci-Fi Movies of the 21st Century
Wow, there have been some great Sci-Fi films this century! I've seen the majority of these, somehow I still haven't gotten to Gravity (I know).
I never take issue with what ends up on these lists but just going to take this opportunity to shout out Coherence, it'd probably be in my top 10.

Re: Let's have a thread about the virus, then. We might as well.
For anyone who has been struggling with it all, I would strongly recommend turning off news notifications on your phone, try to unplug from the wider world and tune back in every now and then when you're up for it. I know this advice has been shared a lot but it's worth repeating. I'm still working ...

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake
Whether you're coming to it for the first time or have played the original game a thousand times you're obviously going to have negative or positive opinions on this one. Criticism is as valid as it is with any game. Being "bothered" by it like actually angry about it's existence, feeling ...

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake
I'm still not sure where I'm at with this remake. I think I'm fine with just ignoring it's existence for now, I'm not sure I need a remake of this game like I used to and I haven't really bothered with any FF game past 10 anyway. At the same time I almost feel like I'm obliged to give it a go, there...

I haven't seen the others to compare but you're the first person I've seen say this so I'm a little curious to know which ones you think are better? The 1933 version for a start. Directed by George Cukor and starring Katherine Hepburn. Just a different pedigree of director and actress as far as I'm...

Little Joe A psychological Sci-Fi Thriller about a plant breeder (Emily Beecham) who has genetically engineered a plant that requires careful attention and in return it makes you happy. I was so up for this, ended up pretty disappointed but it isn't bad. My main issue is that for the majority of th...

First Love Latest Takashi Miike film about a boxer and a prostitute who get caught in the middle of a gang war. This film is full of completely incompetent homicidal criminals, everybody is double crossing everybody else. It's bonkers, super violent and a ton of fun, one of the funniest films I've ...

There are other, better versions of this story I haven't seen the others to compare but you're the first person I've seen say this so I'm a little curious to know which ones you think are better? I loved it and I thought she definitely deserved the nomination over Todd Phillips, it did seem odd tha...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I bloody loved Uncut Gems, such a thrilling experience to see it in the cinema. I was buzzing for a few hours after I left.
What impressed me most was the way it managed to tap into the pure adrenaline rush and excitement of high stakes gambling without ever making it seem attractive.

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Which younger actors are missing out on these huge chances because of that effect? Very good point... plenty of actors out there looking for a chance to work with someone like Scorsese! It is a shame for them (and to a lesser extent us) to miss out. This film was kind of a passion project for Scors...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I had no issue with the effect, I thought it worked pretty well except in a few scenes early on.
