Re: Games Completed 2022

I finished Song of the Deep yesterday as I wanted a light exploration game to see me through the next few. I don't remember buying it, so it must have been a bundle thingy, but I would recommend it for a few quid for sure. Before playing I thought this was made by some low budget indie studio, but s...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Two: Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Inscryption . I'm playing Tactics on my Vita, so it's an easy one to dip in and out of, but I think I've already bollocksed it up. I didn't realise it had permadeath and I sent some characters on a mission and can't get them back yet, meaning I ha...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

Yeah, I saw it last night too and it blew away my expectations. Not in the way that I thought it would be bad and it turned out to be the best film ever, but because I went in expecting a smart and fun timey weirdo film and not something that would make me have actual feelings and emotions. Even the...

Re: 524: Pyre

After picking Pyre up in a bundle recently, I decided to give it a go in time for the show and because Supergiant Games haven't disappointed me yet. While I wasn't let down and I enjoyed my playthrough, I would probably place this at the bottom of their releases so far. I felt like the gameplay was ...

Re: 522: What Remains of Edith Finch

After the success of Gone Home it seemed like every indie developers and their mothers were keen to get a slice of that sweet walking simulator pie due to the promise of providing a full narrative experience without the need for testing and perfecting gameplay features. Unfortunately, other than Fir...

After bouncing off Quantum Break for its pretentious multi-media presentation and for telling me off for exploring too much, it was great too see that Remedy learned from these mistakes with that game that blends live action and in-game graphics seamlessly and actively encourages you to discover thi...

Three episodes in to the final run of Better Call Saul and I'm thinking this might just be better than Breaking Bad.

Re: Ghosts N Goblins - One Credit Clear Live

Great work Ben. It's typical that the stream I miss is the one it finally happened in. The ladder level was always being a piss take every time I tuned in. It was a great journey and it even inspired me to try drawing the game art.

Re: 538: Resident Evil Village

It's fitting how this great series had to pretty much die before bursting back to life to chew off the faces of its competition. While not hitting the heights of its predecessor, Resident Evil Village still ranks as one of the best games in the series and one of the most fun things I've played in re...

Re: 526: Sine Mora

I can't say what compelled me to pick this up, but I think it was something to do with hearing about the story elements and how utilised the increasingly popular multi-playthrough to get the full story mechanic. So, I'll start there. While Sine Mora attempts to tell an intriguing story that borrows ...

Re: Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

The first 2 hours threw a LOT of tutorial stuff at me and, frankly, I've forgotten most of it. Ha! I'll get around to this game one day, but this doesn't instill confidence in me. I hate this type of things in games. There should always be the option to skip it and, I don't know, print actual manua...

Re: 516: Mario Kart 8 / Deluxe

What else is there to say about this game, other than it is possibly the most fun and exciting multiplayer racer on the market? The Mario Kart series started on an incredible high and, while each game hasn't always been better than the last, it feels like this is the culmination of the series high p...

I tried with Kentucky Route Zero, I really did. I think I finished three episodes before throwing the towel in. Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

I saw The Batman last night. I have some thoughts, I'll try to keep it vague enough. Years ago, before the third Nolan film, one of my mates had an idea that they should do the Riddler next and have him as some sort of Zodiac Killer/John Doe from Se7en type, and we never know who he is (possibly in ...

I first experienced Virtua Racing during a trip the Wirral Show in the early '90s. This was during the Sega Bus days, and being a massive Sega fanboy I remember excitedly queuing up to go inside and try out whatever games they had inside. I think was expecting some Sonic 2 type competition, but inst...

If definition for the idiom "living up to expectations" needs to be rewritten in every reference book. It should now simply read: see Hades . Everything about this game is polished to perfection. The art looks incredible, the gameplay is fast and snappy, the characters are fully formed and...

I'm not sure when I'll get to play this as I won't have full access to my PS4 again until about July and my PC won't be able to run it. Re: Our next podcast recording (20.2.22) - 507: Kingdom Hearts / Kingdom Hearts HD I.5 ReMIX

I can't remember when and where I first heard of the original Kingdom Hearts, but I think my immediate reaction was that it must a joke. Mixing Final Fantasy and Disney characters in one world sounded like the biggest load of fan fiction nonsense, but when it dawned on me that it was real I slowly c...
