Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

The Pokemon one will probably be a lot of little things.
- Details on Pokemon Home
- Detective Pikachu 2 reveal
- Major patch or DLC as damage control for Sword/Shield
- Maybe another spin-off or something in the pipeline.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I literally couldn't get past the first two guards in the dungeon in the first Dishonored. It felt like nothing I did worked and I'd get caught every time. Haven't given it a second attempt since, though it's in the 3 for $10 section at the local Microplay.

Re: Retro gaming

Honestly, I have a ton of nostalgia for Tomba, but it's def not $120 good. That's what I sold my complete copy for. Better just to have the PSN version IMHO.

Re: Videogame Deals

No, Mega Man Legends is another series entirely, released on the PS1. It's also on PS3 via PSN, and on PSP (but only in Japan). It's similar to 3D Zelda, though the first Mega Man Legends pre-dates Ocarina of Time by almost a year.

Re: Videogame Deals

Yeah, but I strongly prefer the X games to the classic ones. Legends 1 and 2 are phenomenal, but there's only two of them. There are at least 6 MMX games I'd happily play through on a whim. The classic ones are... Fine? But with the exception of 7, 8 and 11, they're all NES style, which I don't real...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I am admittedly pretty socially isolated, and have been most of my life, so I don't exactly have a tremendous talent for nuance. However, I would say that I can only speak from my subjective interpretation of the world around me - my natural inclination is to speak authoritatively, in an objective t...

Re: Videogame Deals

If I had to pick the best overall Mega Man series, I'd say X for sure - but only because it has more games than Legends. X1 is basically perfect, and X2 is a damned good follow-up. X3 has some problems - probably a rushed release. X4 is... Fine. X5 is good, but really janky and the ending you get is...

Re: Yoshi's Crafted World

Woolly World is one of my favourite WiiU games. Probably the best Yoshi game, if I'm being frank. Still need to try Craft World.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

If it looks cool, yeah. At least for action games. Give it some variety, but games that are just hard for the sake of hard are a total waste of time in my opinion.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I don't really understand people's issues with the combat in Witcher 3. You mash the sword button until the thing fighting you dies. You find better sword and better armour to kill the thing fighting you faster. It's great. What I DON'T like is games like Bloodborne and Bayonetta where you MUST, no ...

I may or may not have it on my PS Classic.

Re: 420: Gradius series

I'll contribute to this one eventually, but I wanted to drop a footnote... In the podcast, they mentioned that this podcast doesn't include the Parodius or Salamander games. Just in case anyone was wanting to add those on their play-along backlog. Just the main series and related spin-offs, I presume.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

So I meant to play and beat Sparkster (the SNES one). And man... That is one flawed game. I can't beat it. There's a boss near the end of the game that is basically impossible. Not because it's hard in a fair way, but because it's complete RNG nonsense. It can basically melt your health at complete ...

Re: Games Completed 2020

#3 Rocket Knight Adventures: This game is great, but a frustrating play. Without the Retron 5's cheat features (infinite lives in particular), this game is legit just not playable. I do not miss the arbitrary difficulty of these older games. That being said, if you have infinite lives and lean on th...

AC Odyssey is a great 20 hour game trapped in an 80 hour game. I'll have much more to say about that on the podcast. :P

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

RE: Witcher game discussion. I'd legit suggest skipping The Witcher 1 completely, unless you have a high tolerance for archaic PC RPG game design. Expect tons of menuing, middling presentation values, tons of jank, and a very monotonous pace. Witcher 2 has some of these problems as well, but it's a ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Presently working on a double-header of Rocket Knight Adventures (Genesis) and Sparkster (SNES). After those, I'll probably try and finish Yakuza 0 for the sake of the podcast - I think I'm on Chapter 12 or 13, of 16. And I wanna get back to No More Heroes 2 soon as well.

Re: All 92+ Commercially Released Consoles, Ranked

I’ve always found it odd that handhelds are often considered separately from tv consoles. They are games consoles, they just have integrated screens. I think it's largely because handheld consoles are often a generation or two behind contemporary TV console technology, and they don't tend to fit in...
